Art of Play Mystery Decks

I was wondering if anyone picked up any mystery decks from AOP this year, and if so, what did you get? Last year I lucked out and hit a private reserve. Just ordered a dozen so anxiously awaiting the chance for a white glove edition Peau Doux...

Agreed. They look great except I don't like the Balance deck. I hate that fleshy peach color. I'm getting mine tomorrow so I will post. Everytime I want to take a picture and post it on UC it says my file is too large and I cant post though. I put the canera on the lowest res...any help woul be much appreciated.

You could try throwing it onto any social media app like Messenger or WhatsApp, then download the photo; the file size should reduce.

I just upload photos to imgur and insert them into the post. Large photos will be resized for the post but will still link to full resolution.

I seem to remember getting a few Bruce Lee's last year. If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all
I still went in for another 6 this year though. It's a bit of fun at the end of the day.

5 out of 6 are winners imo. Only the dick and balls deck is a loss, imo. I maybe might be in for some if there’re still some left. Gotta run the numbers though.

Got my decks today. Weird that it was on a Sunday. My pics wont upload but here is the score:

Toms Town
Ultimate Deck
Lady Moon
Peau Doux White Glove
Peau Doux Silver
Seekers
Fontaine Guess Sticker
Odd Bods x 2
Camp Cards Red x 3

Overall worth it to me as I was after the White Peau Doux and I will keep the Lady Moon as it looks excellent. The rest are up for trade. Good luck everybody!

I think they were more "the big hits" you could get from this years round of mystery decks. Quite a few people have posted their hauls on reddit. Generally people have been getting some really good hauls, plenty of Gold Standards and Ace Fulton LE's amonst them etc. Theres even been a few Fontaines, but hey, you can't always be a winner

If I'm unhappy with the decks I receive, I'll be returning them!

I didn't take a closer look therefore, I had the same impression  . Shame on me, ArtofPlay always cleans out their sh** decks via mystery decks, I should have been more suspicious. I still think there are some really good decks in there. But I will definetly stay away after knowing now that a lot of rubbish will be there as well.

A few years ago I bought 2 and got my money's worth (IMO). Last year I bought 2 and they were duds. This year I elected not to buy. So I guess I'm even! But if you take my small sample size as a base then you could say 50% of the decks are "good."

I guess for the price you can't go wrong if you like most of AoP decks. I dislike more than 70% of their decks though therefore, it ain't worth the gamble for me.

So today as part of their Christmas promo they are doing a Curiousity Box, containing a "clever assortment of playing cards, puzzles, and amusements from around the world."

Here's the mystery to me, who does the math for them? I quote: "Valued at $95, this limited edition box set is available for nearly half the price. " Been a while since I was in school but pretty sure $65 is not "nearly half the price" of $95.

Well, 65 is just a little more than 50, which is half of 100, which is only slightly more than 95. Makes total sense, right??

Just wanted to share my results as a cautionary tale of why mystery deck sales are not the best idea for collectors with specific tastes. Like many of you, I collect fully-custom decks and, for some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to order six mystery decks from a company that produces mostly (very pretty) standard decks. I also thought this would be a good opportunity to snag a deck for my collection that I would otherwise have to sell a child for. The decks:

- Into the Weird
- Ultimate Deck
- Ace Fulton (Green)
- Ace Fulton (Green)
- Papercuts
- Flora

It was a wash as far as value is concerned, with the exception of the Ultimate deck which would be closer to $20. I don't know what I was thinking but I am just going to buy the decks I want from here on out (with the exception of the Seasons mystery sale. Any of those will be a win for my collection) :D

I guess when it comes to marketing and selling nearly becomes where open for interpretation.

You dogged a bullet there my friend. After reading the detailed list of which decks are included you could have ended up with fontaines (a faith you suffered in the past, if I remember correctly :) ) or even an A1 deck :D !

At least fontaines or A1 could be sold to some fanboy for a decent amount. Although that would be offset by the purchase of gloves, respirator and face shield to touch them for picture taking and shipping.

Update, art of play shipped my order out as FedEx smartpost home delivery.... To my business address. My mystery decks have been in town since Sunday, but apparently FedEx decided yet again to deliver outside of business hours... I'll let you know when (if) they ever get here...

Dont take any risks! Hazmat for the win.

I don't know what I love more about my Anyone and fontaine decks. The cards themself or their ability to piss some folks up that much. I guess it is 70% to 30% .
