X Deck: Pandrea Signature Deck

Unread post by hsbc »

Image
The X Deck is FINALLY released after 2 years of everyone asking for it. Initially released for Pandrea's Birthday in a "sample" 100 deck run, the unlucky few who couldn't grab one are now the lucky few. These WILL sell out just like the others. The X Deck is now Alex's go-to-deck for all magic performances. Simple enough to fit his minimal style, yet stylized enough to give it a vibe. Why X's? Well, Pandrea was born on Oct. 10th, at 10:00, hence 10.10.10 - with the paint-like X designs on the back - this deck really encompasses Alex.

$15
"Moving X" Gaff Card Included
Arrco Face for Vintage Feel
Printed to perfection by The United States Playing Cards Company
Duplicate Queen of Hearts in every deck
Thick and sturdy tuck box (highest quality)

I like this more than I should. This is the epitome of low effort. But something about it hits the right notes for me. Wish it was two way. Would like to see the faces. Has a KArnival Dose vibe to me

Feel pretty much the same. I feel like I shouldn't like it, but I actually like it quite a lot.

This is yet another example of trying to create hype over what is a mediocre (at best) deck. There is nothing there that would require two years of efforts and statements like “this will sell out” is a major turn off.

Then why aren't people liking the Nihilism deck then (I don't)

I assume everything is about the vibe of the promo shots; if it ain't for Alex Pandrea's entrepreneur vibe and the well-executed atmosphere, I'm not convinced this would be a deck folks would pick up if it were in Walgreen. Besides, talk about infinite borrowing ideas of other very recent projects: this deck did it, the Nihilism did it.

Lol "after two years of everyone [who is related to me] asking for it." Really hard to believe this is the same company who first published the work of Emmanuel Jose.

I like Pandrea and all, but no. NO. I mean even if this was done by JR, Lotrek or even Lorenzo I would say No. I am with others on this. Two year's effort? Really?

I guess Alex must be a really simple boring dude. This doesn't surprise me though, this guy has made a fortune selling colored rectangle designs and hype. Hats off I guess for making something out of literally nothing.

I wouldn't have it even for free... I wouldn't have it even if I got 10 € as an extra if it meant that I had to keep it. I am currently running out of room in my old Ikea drawer and I wouldn't waste any of that limited space with this kind of BS.

Not really, but that was funny. I had an idea it wasn't nice because I am starting to get an idea that not much good comes from "paskaa". Pasta it is not.

I'd rather have a Jerry's Nugget in my collection that that abomination, and that is setting the bar really low.

Ooh, Brad but you will be missing on the product of two years’ labour... [emoji23] That paskaa was clearly the result of a mother of all constipations.

Just to clarify, since it seems to get confused a lot in here. The deck was created 2 years ago as a private deck. Now he is releasing it. Or at least this is his story. There was never mentioned it was 2 years in the making.

This deck has detail where it matters - the uneven border on the back subtly completes the look of the pseudo-hand-drawn Xs on the Pandrea deck, while the Nihilism deck is just a single blocky X - and the opposite with the tucks: the Nihilism tuck has the white border, while the Pandrea deck works better without the borders on the tuck

I rather like the Nihilism deck, I just don't care for the name.

If designers are going to continue making 'cardistry' decks as an excuse to pump out low effort designs and misuse the term 'minimalism' at least these white x decks look cool to me. I couldn't be more sick of 'lines and shapes' style that is seemingly endlessly popular for Cardistry decks (read: near worthlessly boring 100 level graphic design coming out of a community college design class taught by the teacher that also has to teach English because the school is underfunded) The Virts started it with, for my money, the most overrated deck design to date (and I am considering Fontaines when I say that).

To me, white X's on a black deck aren't better designed, but I think they look cooler.

To be fair, if The Virts started it, popularized it, and created a neverending trend, then they're not overrated. Blame the successors of this trend who can't come up with better cardistry ideas.

Nihilism and this X deck? Still falls into the "lines and shapes" that you said: it's just a cross/crosses slapped onto nothingness.

I think they are X's, not crosses. Though even crosses would also work. They both at least evoke some sense of symbolism. I think the Virts decks are definitely overrated. I don't think showing scores of talentless hacks they too can get thousands of people to spend $15 a deck by being terrible designers is really a merit.

The only symbolism I see with the three Xs is Amsterdam (Holland), which is where I would need to be and under heavy influence to be able to appreciate this deck in anyway

Makes zero difference, still a low effort terrible deck. He is the one using "two years of demand" to hype a shit deck.

Yeah, I did notice that. That would probably be a new all time low for any designer if he did claim it took 2 years to DESIGN 3 x's.
