Hi guys,
I'm kinda new to this, so I'd really appreciate your help.
I'm looking to relaunch the Southeast Asia Travel Trumps + Playing Cards deck back on Kickstarter over the coming months, and was wondering if it appeals to you guys at all? (be brutal!) The old campaign can be found here...
It's targeted more as a travellers gift (something you'd pick up at the airport etc), but I still wanted it to appeal to cardists and playing card enthusiasts, it's a colourful deck after all! I'm stuck as to whether to opt for a better board (ie B9 linen finish rather than smooth), and in consequence have to up the price per deck?
One thing's for sure, I'll be back to Kickstarter with a completed deck, real photos, a prototype and a much lower funding goal!
Any help or advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

HI, James.
Nice to see you over here. You definitely have these cards designed very well for it's intended target as "travellers gift" as you said. Yes, it's a very colourful deck, but not sure what elements are going to make this deck great for cardistry that's not already been done in the many cardistry offerings on KS.
Magic, it'll be good for a very specific trick, and then probably only for magicians from that region. Card enthusiasts are a very tricky bunch to nail down as we have such a wide range of interests. .
For gameplay, this is wrong deck for play as it's 1 way, no pips or proper courts.
IMHO, I would suggest you stick with your original intended audience. Those of us who love travel and novel decks will like this one.
You've got all the main attractions done in 1 card for each location , plus I love all the little trivia about each place that you've put in the borders.
Of course my opinion may be biased, being from Malaysia and familiar with half the places. heck I'm just excited to see a deck based on my part of the world!
My 2 cents: Focus on the minimum required to get this deck out. That will establish you as a KS designer who's delivered a product and is legit. To get the card lovers, offer stretch goals of a better printer, finish, etc. (Don't forget to factor in a 5-10% drop out rate into your costs even if you meet your goal)

I like them but its kind of a really nice souvenir deck at its core, and I only want a souvenir deck relevant to a trip I actually took. Due to them being one way with one giant artwork as all the faces they aren't good for actual play or magic. You should try to redesign the backs to be two way.
If I recall correctly the main reason I didn't back was the high price once shipping was considered. Not sure how to address that.
Its a really nice deck that I would immediately buy if I was in a store in South East Asia, great art and cool factoids on each card. But as a deck I would back on kickstarter it just didn't make the cut.
