Hi from SoCal!

Hi all!

I'm Henry from Riverside, CA. I've spent a lot of time on Instagram under the socal.playing.cards name since Jan of this year and I know that some of the people that I greatly respect post here from time to time!

I've been collecting cards since March of last year and have around 850 decks at the moment. First real love were Golden Nugget decks, then Brown Wynns, then pretty much everything I could get my hands on. I sometimes take heat on IG since I don't do magic, don't do cardistry, and don't really open decks. I'm in it for the love of collecting.

Thanks for having me and I look forward to spending a great deal of time here!

Henry! Welcome to UC! Good to see you here!
We've got some things in common, I too have been collecting since about march of last year, I also do not do magic or cardistry. However you're a little further along in the collecting game than me ; I have a little less than 300 decks in my collection, and I open most all of my decks.
Anyway, glad to have you here!

Welcome SoCal to UC. I have seen you a few times on JR's moving sale auctions. I can't remember what you have picked up, but hopefully you have gotten some nice things from the sale. I think you will enjoy our community. Frankly, this is a great place to get the scoop on a lot of new projects coming out and even some new releases, sales, deals on eBay, etc. It is also a great place to share what you like and don't like about specific decks and designs. We can be rather blunt at times, but it is what it is. Hope to see you post here often.

Is it ever what it isn't?

Yeah, it can be if you try to tell someone "Hey, that is great", when in fact it is crap. You can say, "I am going to be backing this big time", when you don't. We don't do that here. If we like it or don't like it, we call it what it is. We don't all have the same tastes and design interests (even manufacturer tolerances), but we state how we as individuals feel. Some designers appreciate it, and others can't handle it. Cross us at your risk, don't deliver and face our pitchforks and torches (Natalia Silva and others). We call hype branded cards what they are. Some here will collect them and some will not, but we still call them what they are. 8-)

Like Fontaines...

I mainly called it out because my coworker constantly says that and it bugs the hell out of me. I wanna say "thanks, Captain Obvious" every time he says it.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I've always been a big fan of calling it as I see it.

Hi Henry,

I have seen you around IG, watching you play Mario Kart and trying to win auctions on JR's streams. Welcome to UC! Maybe some of us here can corrupt you enough to where you will open your decks ;) :)
