I've been toying around with the trigrams theme for a while. This is my latest design and concept.

It looks like a traditional type of design, but am I right in thinking you have come up with this yourself? I think well done for creating a classic vibe. I remember you posted something here before (I guess it was you) along similar lines, but with ordinary shaped cards, and maybe less of a unified feel. Some questions / thoughts:

What is the significance of these shapes / symbols in korean culture if that is where they are from?
What would you call the suits? Do they have names, or would you call them the colours? They look perhaps difficult to distinguish if you are not used to them. Perhaps you would get used to them if you played with these cards a lot.
What are you thinking for picture cards?

Yes, I've posted a similar design before, but have made changes. The deck will have an information sheet that explains the suit names, etc. Trigrams are significant in Chinese and Korean cultures as part of Feng Shui. Examples of the face cards are attached as well.

I would back these, but I feel like design-wise, there could be a better way to present the western indices so they don't feel jammed up against the trigram indices.

Here are some possible alternative versions of the traditional markers. Purple color is to highlight the locations, not the final color. Original locations are on the bottom for comparison.

I'm not sure if any of those placements strike me as better. I envisioned putting the original indices in a narrow box and moving it a smidge down from the trigrams.

Something along these lines?

Along those lines, yes. Not sure if it improves or not. Don't let me derail you too much...

Slow progress due to other demands. I created a survey for various elements if anyone is interested. No personal information is collected unless you provide it at the end.
