This is not a new deck by any means, but it is hell of a cool one so I thought it deserves it's own thread. Besides, I lost my job today so might as well open this thread as I haven't got anything better to do right now.

This Circus themed full transformation deck was designed by the American artist Frank Robert Schick (1924-1988) and published in 1988 by his wife after his passing. The deck is 52 card deck, cards being slightly bigger than normal poker sized cards. The deck is gilded and comes in a wooden box. Full set also includes a booklet (which also has gilded edges) and a coin. The deck is limited edition of a 1000 decks, printed by Cartamundi in 1988.

Personally I find this deck as an absolute masterpiece. Everything about it is just gorgeous - including the fact that you can still find for sale, usually for not that expensive of a price. I do know that TwoPiece should have the artists one of a kind personal reserve deck, I think everyone here would appreciate some pictures :D

Yes! Instead of having that 'card' painted on the lid of the PR box, it has a gold metal 'card' adhered, and a little handle to pull it aside rather than the indent (to remove the lid).

It also came with his original artwork for, I think, every card. Around 200 little pieces of sketch paper. I'll try to dig them out and post some pics. :D :D

A :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar: deck for sure.

FULL SET ON EBAY for 39,50 British pounds. Shipping from the UK.

There is also an another listing from an another seller for a full set, also shipping from the UK... for 75 British pounds.

But yeah, awesome deck with a quite cheap listing price. The seller also has other decks with rather good prices, like Randy's Rome Toga pair 19,95 British pounds.

Hmm makes me wonder what are these decks then? Reproductions? No box, booklet or gilding. Not even the number on the deck but sold at USD 40 and USD 50 for the gilded, with a coin.

I would guess that they are overrun decks.

I tried to get it, but until I transfered some funds between my accounts it was sold... Next time.
Thank you for the tip, Roope!

AN UNOPENED SET with a starting bid of 50 £.

The seller doesn't seem to ship outside of UK however as I know that Romeril tried to ask him/her about the shipping options to the States without any luck. This is an excellent listing for our UK members however.

Hi. I help at a charity shop on the Isle and we have just been donated a set of Frank Robert Schick Circus cards with coin exactly as yours.
We are a little unsure what to do with them and if they are worth anything. I’m hoping you might be able to help or point me in the right direction.
Thanking you in advance
Sharon

Hi Sharon,

You can point that deck in my direction, as I'd happily purchase it.

Thank you!

Here's what I found regarding recent sales on eBay via Worthpoint.

"Unfortunately, this item cannot be shipped to United States. But don't give up just yet — Opens in new window or tab. find similar items offered by other sellers. (5010)" I would've happily purchased it outright! I messaged them to let them know about the issue.

Seller responded that they'd be happy to post to the US but I asked them if they can change the listing to add US postage. Otherwise it doesn't allow for a bid to be placed.

I bid and it sat at £ 10 for ten days until someone tried to snipe it in the last minute. I won it for £ 50. Get smurfed, mothersmurfer*.

* - yeah, I typed it like that.

Wasn't me! Couldn't bid on it unfortunately. The entire US was out of the game on this one.

Congratulations!

Thanks.

To be clear, as it probably doesn't read like it, but I bid £ 50 at the beginning and just left it at that (which is what I always do); they bid up a few times, stopping at £ 50, too, but eBay gave it to me.
