A Motley Pack-Transformation Playing Cards (+ AR app)

Unread post by guru »

Live now

------------
It is already there in the custom deck draft section and thought of creating a thread here too.

KS Launch: 12 Jan - 7:00 AM AEDT
AMP- Royal Edition.jpg
AMP-Heritage Edition.png
(Heritage edition might be produced by another printer and not USPCC)

Based on one of the rarest & forgotten books (or a Pantomime) - "On the Cards; Or; A Motley Pack" authored by Garnet Walch in 1875 in Melbourne, these 2 transformation decks took 1 year in making but these are almost ready now to be shared with the world. Got the original book in my possession from State Library Melbourne's Rare books section while seeking permission to reproduce the work took time but the staff at State Library was very helpful.

The book consisted of a dramatic fiction or a pantomime based on 40 transformed cards, and each card has been redrawn from the book while I took liberty in making the deck complete, and so additional 14 cards have been created as well.

The illustrations in the Original book were never drawn into a separate deck and this is the first time, you will get to see those cards in the form of a deck & apart from the two decks, I plan to re-publish the book as well, currently working on the quotes from book printers.

This looks pretty cool. Is there a company that will print them on thicker card instead of uspcc stock that's quality?

Royal edition will be on Bee Premium stock which is different to their retail stock. The other deck will also be printed on thicker card stock and I am still waiting to hear from printers.

Uncuts are always a challenge to get as last time both printers forgot to keep a few uncut sheets. Think I need to keep a tab on them this time and continue to do a follow up regularly during production (if this KS is funded successfully).

Looks really good Sunish! Like the way you're taking your business lately, first Kalevala and now this. Congratulations!

Count me in!

those uncuts look SOOOO nice. I can't really afford to collect uncuts and have yet to actually even own one, but for those that do, this would definitely make a super worthy addition to any collection and one that should be framed and hung on the wall to be admired - just beautiful.

That bottom uncut sheet does look undeniably beautiful.

I really like both decks. Not sure on the heritage edition tuck case though.

I like both. That said, on the uncuts at least (as displayed above), I love the way the colors pop.

Not a big fan of Transformation Decks. I am in for this one though. I like the colorized version, but both look good. Great job on this Sunish.

I also like both uncuts.
I'll try to get them.

I like transformation decks. I've arrived late into playing card collecting and I missed Emmanuel Jose decks, I won't miss these :)

Thanks all....

It is going to be a simple campaign.

2 decks & a book - One deck & the book will be Kickstarter exclusive edition. Every printer has a min quantity requirement, hope both exclusive editions reach their moq. I 'm thinking to get the second deck's print run as 1875, which is still lower run compared to a number of others out there.

Pricing is also going to be similar to last campaign like Kalevala, I am just waiting to confirm shipping quote for the book.

Going to back this for sure. Buying a new transformation deck is a no-brainer.

I am definitely interested.

I don't have many transformation decks, but I love when one is done extraordinarily well (as I expect this one to be).

For well over a month, I've had *zero* open/active pledges on KS. Suddenly, I've backed two. (Yours and Montenzi's "Hello Tiki V2.")

I'm in for a pair of each. Looking forward to these!

F^&*, I missed Day 1. :( :(

Sunish - These look f^&*ing amazing. I need clarification, though. The "Royal Edition" card back is the 2-way building, and the "Heritage Edition" has the full-bleed poker back, correct?

Edit: I'm in for 2 of each either way. And a book. This project is awesome.

Yes, that's correct.

I'd taken a quote from Expert Playing Cards to make that full bleed poker back in hot foil (red foil) for a possible stretch goal but given how the campaign is progressing, it looks unlikely we will ever reach that goal.

I've seen so many s^&*ty decks get funded. This one better cross the threshold.

It's 64 % funded with 5 weeks to go. Surely it will get funded... Right?
