Secret Santa 2020

1st of November means it's time to start up this year's UC Secret Santa Deck Exchange.

This year will be similar to last year.

To take part you can either just comment "I'm in" or make a request for 2 decks you would like from your wish list.

Once you have posted here please send me a PM with your name & shipping address.

This confirms that you are willing to take part and to ship a deck as a gift to another UC member.

Like last year I will do my best to match you up with someone close by to reduce shipping costs.

Here's where it get's interesting:

If you are able to fulfil a wish from the decks listed send me a PM to confirm this.
I will match you up with that UC member and you will be allowed to make a public request for another 2 decks from your wishlist.

1st December I will confirm by PM whom each participant is shipping to and which deck if applicable.

Hope this all makes sense, any question feel free to ask.
(I will repost this at the start of the thread and I will start the ball rolling with the first entry)

Those of you that have been around a while may remember Kai (Volantangel) organised a Christmas deck exchange a few years back. I had only just joined UC at that point so didn't participate but I recently came across the old thread and thought it would be a great idea to resurrect this.

Simply put this is a "Secret Santa" style gift exchange. Anyone can take part in 3 easy steps:

A) Be prepared to ship a deck (or more) as a gift anywhere in the world at your own expense.
B) Comment below that you'd like to take part.
C) Send me (jacksandjokers) a private message with your Name & Shipping Address.

You can be as generous as you'd like with your gifts (Anyone who wants to ship me a Blue Damask feel free ) but the minimum value should be a $10-$15 deck. No standard Bicycle decks please.

On the 1st December names will be chosen at random and I will send a private message to those participating letting them know where to send their gifts.

Hopefully this will be a fun experience for all involved and a nice lead up to the holidays.

This is kinda awesome, because I'm participating in a similar event on a comics forum, and considered bringing it up here.

Due to my generosity in other events, among other things, I won't be participating in this (this year).

In theory, I really do like the idea behind this "secret santa" exchange, but I'm not sure it's very practical in carrying out considering the costs of shipping just one single deck (especially internationally) - a deck you're not even sure the other person really wants and/or doesn't already have...

With that said though, I'm all for dusting off the 'ol cobwebs from my cold, dead heart - momentarily casting aside my nihilistic hedonist ways, and abandoning the utter disgust I have for the gluttonous, over-consumerism of mindless and wasteful mass consumption that capitalism has exploited to the fullest extent, all under the thinly-veiled guise of "religion" stolen from pagan traditions - in the name of spreading some holiday cheer to the UC fam

So, count me in (just fyi, I won't be gifting anyone a Blue Damask deck as I don't even have one - still bitter about that btw )

But, cereally, folks, there's a drop down list in the lower right-hand side of the topic page that only Moderators can see, and that drop down includes "make this topic sticky." All you have to do is choose that and then click "Go."

Yes, Last year this is pretty much how it worked.

I'm going to change it slightly this year to (hopefully) make it more interesting.

That's right - I was trying to think of the name. It worked really well last year and they make sure to pair you up with someone who is in the same region. I shared my P52 wishlist and my Secret Santa knew I like to open decks from my previous Reddit posts (#freethepip!) so he sent me several opened decks along with some brand new ones and some Xmas decorations to boot! It was a blast and I look forward to the Reddit exchange this year. I would be down for a UC exchange, for sure and Elfster seemed to run pretty smoothly.
