Only a month or so into starting my collection. Not very many, yet, but I'm liking the decks I have so far. I try to get at least two of each so I can open and play with one.

Welcome to the UC! You are among friends here. And, oh, my, you have a great start to your collection, and a lot of great decks to look forward to.

Welcome.
Not a bad start. You might try joining the Pip Box Club subscription from
https://playingcarddecks.com/. It is a monthly subscription and for $30 per month he sends a great selection of three decks every month.
https://playingcarddecks.com/collection ... bscription It is a good value and a good way to get exposed to different decks. Just a thought. Of course, kickstarter and other sales are a great way to expand your collection.
Your journey to the dark side has begun...

Thanks. I'm excited to build my collection, but I'm not sure my wife is as enthusiastic. Haha

Yes, the wife can pose a serious complicating factor. Some choose open honesty, some choose stealth. I choose a bit of both, and a steady stream of complete denial. "I do not have a card-collecting addition problem (please do not see my posts with incontrovertible evidence that I do indeed have a problem)." Initially, just hide your playing cards in socks in your sock drawer.
I am sure she will not notice.
Other, more learned people here may be able to give you better advice....Ah, my wife is still sleeping. Time to sneak in a few decks in the house from my car (You think I am kidding?).

Welcome aboard!
Probably the most useful advise I got when I started 2 years ago, was to know what you want to buy and why. Or else, it'll quickly move from "6 Red Hellions but only 2 of others" to "a brick and I'll never open them".
Unless of course you're a magician and/or cardist. Then you've got a valid reason for all of them. (Check out Chris Ramsay's collection)
Otherwise you'll end up with a situation like this below: (No, none of those are my photos. Seriously.)
Happy collecting and may you never run out of storage space!

Nice, but ah a signed NOC? We might have to call an intervention here

I have the advantage of not being married...
Playing cards, comic books, what's next?

I had a very short NOC phase that lasted about a month. I was excited to get a few, and was thinking about getting more, but then realized they're all the same and there really isn't a need to get them all. I'm over this phase.

I'm pretty sure that every single card collector looks back to the decks they got in the first few months and think "oh my god, what was I thinking?"
I know I do, and that dark period lasted far longer than a first few months. Also your purchases seem much smarter than mine when I first started, I bought stupid shit like a Fatboyeatallday deck, Brown Quality deck (spent over 30 €, what the actual f*ck did I thought about)
Nowadays I mostly collect fully custom decks, there is a link to my TOP 150 list in my signature, it basically lists 150 custom decks, so it actually is kind of a nice tool to new collectors as with it you can look up some of the great stuff that is out there.
So nice start and welcome to UC

Actually, can't say that I do. I only had Ellusionist, Kings Wild, and Theory11 decks for awhile. I got into the Kickstarter game with Emerald Tally-Ho and Sishou Four Beasts.
I'm more OCD than you can imagine, and I'm sure that's what prevented me from making "regrettable" purchases. I'm sure that 99% of collectors do go through that phase, though.
NOCs are definitely no big deal. They don't really have collectible appeal.

I agree (about NOCs) they never appealed to me. With one exception, I have the Theory 11/NOC collaboration. There's something about that tuck I really like... but can't explain.
