Monthly Kings Wild Shorts Subscription

Jackson Robinson has just announced launching a monthly membership subscription (called 'Kings Wild Shorts') directly through his site.

The subscription will only be available to 144 members and include 1 exclusive deck per month - Each print run will be limited to 144 decks and, according to his comments on IG, will most likely be produced by MPC. Date & time in which slots for subscription memberships open have not yet been announced but will be within the next few weeks.

I can only assume the reason is because these decks will be limited and MPC can do small print runs. But it's still an odd choice. Either way I'm sure these decks will skyrocket in value in the aftermarket.

CBJ is likely correct. That said, having his "Prototypes" might be very nice for die-hard Jackson fans. I am wondering if he can keep up designs for 1 deck per month on top of other stuff he does, or if they will be standard Kings Wild courts with new backs only. Still, I like the backs of these decks. Not wild about MPC, but I understand that is going to be his best choice on a 144 deck run.

Any idea on the monthly fee? Edit: I see, it shows $24 with a $32 struck through, so I guess we get a huge discount at $24 per month. I am interested. My venture into the monthly subscription with Paul Carpenter was a huge fail. I am really happy with the Pip of the Month club that Will Roya is doing. So, a mixed back with monthly subscriptions so far.

I would normally have no problem passing on this, but the idea of KW seasonal decks is super intriguing. Given how die-hard his fan base is, I can see the subs selling out quickly.

A prototype deck will be in my next Pip Box Club and will be interested in feedback for who ever opens that deck.

Thanks for the picture PipChick. That does look interesting, especially for JR. I am definitely game for it.

Will, I like the Pip of the Month Club. Main thing, you give really good value. 3 decks for $30 delivered. Most are decks I would not get on my own, and they are nice additions. Some are decks I have, and I don't mind getting some extras. Oh, and you always send a ton of bonus cards. Some members are trying to build Franken Decks from the extra cards, which sounds like a fun side project. It is kind of like watching TheGentlemanWake's videos on a deck like Sub Rosa, which I wouldn't normally get, but now have an interest in getting. Oh yeah, the Sub Rosa deck was in this month's set!

Say, if anyone knows where I can get a Dead Man's Deck, I would be interested.

Subscriptions are supposed to be available September 1 (no time listed yet). I had the same reaction as Merlebird when I saw that Queen!

I can't deal with what will be an overpriced MPC deck, no matter how limited, every month. This is no Lotrek deck.

I don't think $24 for a small release project like this is too crazy. We will see. I am willing to give it a serious try. In just running the numbers, if he sells out the series (which I expect), it will generate just over $41,000/yr, less costs for printing and shipping.

It's only $24/month? That's reasonable. I mean, they're MPC decks, but they are JR's designs and I like most of what he's done. Worth a shot.

Also, I want to see that new stock and new varnishing MPC is talking about in their CHAO project. Maybe JR will use it.
Not that I have much against some of their other decks. I think their Impressions decks were fine for what they were.

again, this is just from a comment made on IG from JR himself and I haven't yet seen the specific time for when the slots open officially announced anywhere else so, stay tuned folks

yea, I agree with Bradius - it looks like you were able to snag a slot for membership early - congrats!

But am quite curious as to how JR will respond to the fact that some subscription slots (or at least this one that we know of) have been evidently claimed for well before the "official" opening... I, along with I'm sure many others, anticipate this is likely to be a highly sought after membership, so I can already imagine a few people are gunna be pretty peeved to know this was able to slide if they themselves aren't quick enough to secure their own slots for membership during the "official" launch times.... I guess we'll just have to wait and see
