Pinocchio Playing Cards by Passione (ill. Elettra Deganello)

Unread post by Conturbia »

Hey dear friends, I want to open a thread for Pinocchio Playing Cards (the name could change): a project dedicated to Collodi, an Italian writer, the author of the known novel Disney used for his movie.

The author of the deck, on the other hand, is Elettra Deganello, that joined me and Maurizio Toccafondi in Passione Playing Cards.

Here you can find a preview of the AoS.

Not a bad AoS or theme. I'm anxious to see the courts- I feel like you could have a field day with them.

Thank you! You can see most of the images here: https://www.instagram.com/elettra_illustration/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

some of the old ones are of course early stages.

I saw this on instagram a few weeks ago and was excited.
The art is similar to Giovanni's decks which i like a lot.
Looking forward to support this project. :)

This looks like a really fun deck. I love the artwork so far. My only suggestion would be to boost up the colors, they look a little muted for this playful style of deck. I'm really looking forward to this one.

+1 on the colors. Right now it's strongly reminding me of an Alice in Wonderland deck because of the color palette.

Shouldn't this be in the Custom Deck Drafting Board section?

IDK. I almost used this section for our upcoming projects, but of course I can change that :)

The moment I saw these designs, I thought the exact same thing; the combination of the color palette and design style are really reminiscent of the Alice in Wonderland deck for me as well. Don't get me wrong, I much prefer this deck over that one, but the fact that that one had just came out only like 6 months ago, it just keeps coming to mind when I see these cards and I'd much rather have something different than something that, for me, feels very similar to another deck...

I have been following the progress on these cards since we first got a glimpse of the designs on Elettra's IG; the deck has definitely got my attention and piqued my interest, so without a doubt, I'll be there when they launch on KS, but I can't say that I'm completely sold just yet, but we'll see ;)

There are a lot of great things to love going on and I do think the inclusion of metallic inks will make this deck feel a bit more sophisticated and elegant compared to the AiW deck; but, in combination of the limited color palette, the feel of the deck might also lose some of the playful whimsy of the Pinocchio theme... it's a tough balance to strike and hopefully the tuck will be able to pull it all together :) I most certainly haven't written this deck off completely; on the contrary, I very much look forward to seeing more and wish you the best of luck and support in progressing with the design and preparing to launch :D

I have to be honest, I like the back but I don't love it. I don't know if it's the clashing circle and rectangle aspects or the lack or colors or both. Again, it's not horrible enough for me to pass on it but I think it's just so close to being excellent.

Agreeing with vasta. There's something just slightly off about the back. Is the hue too soft? As was said, it's only minor thing and definitely not an egregious enough fault to put me off.

The back looks nice, not the best I've ever seen but works just fine. Don't have to be changed IMO.

That color would look great in metallic ink.

I haven't commented on the faces yet so I'll just say that I love them.

I like this a lot.

The courts are a very nice balance of theme-specific art along with a strong unmistakable flavour of traditional courts.

I also agree with the comments on the back. Very nice, but possibly within striking distance of excellent.

*exhales heavily*

Why are all the decks I'm really liking being released at once? Between this, Pizza, VANDA's Planets series, Alex Chin's new deck and a few KS decks I have bought privately; my poor wallet needs a breather.

I like the back design. There may be a little too much there but it works for Me. The color on the other hand seems too diluted. I think it needs to be brightened up a little.

It has been an awful / beautiful summer for my wallet and my collection too :-/ However, don't worry Pinocchio won't be ready before October.
