Re: Stripy Deck Luxury Edition
I have and really like the original pastel version and this keeps all the good bits of that (including Cartamundi printing) and adds gold foil to both sides of the cards! How could I possibly say no?
Cartamundi must be offering super competitive rates to get foil on decks because this isn’t the first Cartamundi double sided foil deck I’ve seen at a very reasonable price. I’ve never seen double foiled uspcc decks on Kickstarter period, and those with it on the backs tend to be notably increased in cost (or funding goal) or the result of a very ambitious stretch goal.

Re: Stripy Deck Luxury Edition
I don't usually buy cardist decks (have a few) but for some reason I really liked these when I checked out the campaign. Then I saw the pastel deck and really liked those as well. I am in for a pair of both decks. The foil on the new edition decks is just a bonus for me at this point since I liked the design up front.
Thanks for posting the link.

Re: Stripy Deck Luxury Edition
The original was printed by USPCC (with a traditional cut). If you don't have them yet I would recommend picking some up (which you can do in this campaign).
But with the change to Cartamundi I won't be supporting the luxury version.

I have the pastel edition, I like the design but USPCC's printing is pretty bad (see below). Hopefully you guys will get properly aligned deck with cartamundi.
$30 for the new one to Canada is also
think I'll skip out this new one

Have you gotten one of the “new” Cartamundi decks? The b9 linen stock this campaign is using to print is actually amazing. I think I prefer it to uspcc. For me Cartamundi printing is a big plus.hikeeba wrote:The original was printed by USPCC (with a traditional cut). Re: Stripy Deck Luxury Edition
The only thing luxurious about this deck is the price...
It's not bad, but I am not interested.

"Printed on Cartamundi's famed B9 stock for durability, these outlast any deck we've ever put it head-to-head against."
May have to try a deck to see, but not this, maybe on the cheap, like the $3.50 tuckless green keepers....

Re: Stripy Deck Luxury Edition
The Copag 310 used the b9 as well and are pretty cheap. Not much to look at but just a few bucks a deck on most sites. Or for a bit more the Copag Neo even look pretty nice! (Just make sure you are getting the newer b9 ones as they share a name with some older bridge size decks...)

Re: Stripy Deck Luxury Edition
I just got my Stripy decks in today and I have to say, I'm very impressed with these. The tuck design isn't revolutionary, but it is a thick matte black stock. The simple white and gold foil lines really pop against that matte back background. As with the double cellophane wrapped Shin Lim's Regalia decks, the Stripy deck has cellophane wrap on the outside of the tuck and the cards within are also wrapped in cellophane. The best thing about this deck is the cold foil on both the front and backs of the cards. The EB deck was 13 euros, or about $15.25 shipped, and even the standard price was 15 euros, or $17.60 shipped. You got a better quantity discount if you bought multiple decks, so this is really a great value. I have to give Carta Mundi much credit for keeping the price point very reasonable for cards cold foiled on both the front and backs.
For cardistry purposes, the finish is great, especially considering the cards are foiled on both sides. The back pattern looks great in spins with the gold foil circle in the center, and fans are nice with the gold stripe on the corners. The courts are simplified standard courts similar to the Smoke & Mirror decks, but the gold foil takes them to another level despite their simplicity. I really like the circular pip layout, which is great for card spins like the back design. The Stripy deck did have some negatives. Carta Mundi stock is definitely on the soft side for me, and the print registration was slightly off with the left border on the back being thinner than the right border. While the cards faro easily, they have a modern cut instead of a traditional cut, so they naturally faro back to front. But given the foiling and the value of the deck, I can easily overlook these few minor issues. I'm definitely happy I got these, and frankly, I wish I got more.
