Yeah, no. Courts like these were "cute" the first 10 times. Now it's just lazy and boring.

Not often I wish for just standard court cards, but that is the case with this deck. I abhor those court cards. I like the back design and the Ace of Spades. A little lazy on the rose extra card. Joker?
Easy pass.

It's a shame when you run out of lady friends before you get through the courts.

the back design is awesome. I saw the creator put the option for someone to have their face on1 of 3 the court cards. I think that's pretty cool.

"A breath of the past century meets modern minimalism."
Wrong on both ideas. Pass.

I agree that the back is truly done well.

Such a damn shame. I LOVE ~everything about this deck, the tuck, the back, the ace, but holy shit are those courts awful. What the hell were they thinking? Are they that desperate to put their faces on it? The custom heads are not even in the same style or proportion as the bodies they sit on. Amateur decision and execution.
If they went standard courts I'd probably buy like 3, as is, I won't even buy 1.
Black Roses Playing Cards - Live now on Kickstarter

Hey guys, I just launched my first Kickstarter project ever for my
Black Roses Playing Cards deck.
Having been a huge fan of all kinds of playing cards from the last century, it’s been a goal of mine to create a deck of cards that combines my love of minimalist art and detailed designs from the past.
The Black Roses Playing Cards were born from that idea.
As a very
special reward I'll give you the chance to be a part of this deck.
I will draw your face on the Queen of Diamonds / King of Clubs.
Every court card in the Black Roses deck is personalized.
Only these two cards are still waiting to get their unique touch.

I hope you like the deck and you are interested to bring it to life.
Let me know what you think. I'm curious to hear what you say.

Right; I forgot about all the time it takes for all the attention to detail on the customized, standard courts.

Well what do you expect from a Madison minion? Creativity? At least though he delivers on his decks, unlike most of the others.

Wow, very impressive to be funded in 2 min. Dan's got his fanbase for sure. It is a good deal at $11 per deck for a marked deck and he throws in a free magic tutorial.

More surprised than anything, that he's managed to raise so much, 28k euros in such a short time. Also, it says about the state KS projects, where it's mostly JAB jobs and Dan's actually customized his courts even more!

Oh yeah, his fully custom courts are gorgeous. Saw someone on reddit calling him the best card designer ever. I can only bow down infront of such greateness. /s

well, he has the full support of the fart sniffing DM cult behind him so the funding doesn't surprise me. hideous courts as always.

Sadly, this only makes my theory of the cardistry fans' idea of creativity and customized design even more valid.
One would hope with T11's licensed decks, it would expose even more people to what a fully customized deck should look like. At $10 it's an excellent gateway deck to just what customized decks look like. Looks like they have to get a licensed brand that fits the current cardistry/millennial age group.
I would say a Pokemon deck would be 1 such deck, looking at what my kids are into right now. Fontaine's already got the Spongebob deck.
Not trying to sound like an elitist snob of a collector, but more of exposing fans to what's out there in the wider market so that they will demand more from these brands and to get their $ worth in terms of design. Not cut and paste clip art or JAB job effort.
Say what you will about OPC, but at least they make the effort to package their decks to fit the theme 100%. All the way from the brick box, tuck, to the color and customization on the courts to ensure everything fits the theme. They even bother to use metallic inks to jazz up their newer editions. Their launch price for these decks make it worth the $ if you're into the design. Zach's slowly getting there, designwise from his recent releases, but still so much missed opportunity.

However, I really like that sleeve for the white deck. The relief in the metal is incredible. The outrageous cost of the decks is something I don't enjoy. Only a near $500 investment will get you all 6, leaving you with just one deck more than the $199 5 deck tier. I mean, I realise the benefits of obtaining all the extras, but does it make spending close to $300 on a single deck of gilded cards justified?
