$1375 https://socalplayingcards.com/products/ ... 9348521216

Not too far off for 2. Maybe that's the price seller was going off of. Although some other auctions went for like $500-900. $8.85 shipping is the dumbest part though. For $3000 you better ship it by fedex overnight for free dude.

I am more than a bit nuts. More than I can chew for sure. However, I was simply trying to imply that my dog is for sale too...for the right price. :ugthink:

I'm far from being in the used dog market so, you can have them @GandalfPC.

He did say “slightly used” - I figure, how ruff could it be?

(a pun too far - but I’m rolling with it)

Buyers on crack (or at least maybe too much helium). These are two antique St. Petersburg Russian decks going for WAY over what I would have thought. The seller listed both starting at $25. Not sure they knew what they had. Both look mint. The Karazin deck (top photo) is from about 1898 or so, second edition. Was published as a double deck in a single box - the auction is for a single deck, no box (hard to find in mint condition). The second deck is also from St. Petersburg, looks mint, don't see a box in the photos or the description (altho I suspect it came in a paper wrapper), one of several editions from that time period. One hour to go. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335466815022?m ... media=COPY

Update: The Karazin deck sold for $2,025 USD. The second deck sold for $787. Wow.

That beautiful swallow back seems rather modern for a deck that is 126yo - that price bracket puts them in me only being able to afford a single card or two :o

There are excellent reproductions of both - from Russia, and maybe out of print by now, but they're around. Alexander Lutkovskiy made particularly good ones. One big reason for collecting the originals is the quality of the chromolithography. The St. Petersburg deck (bottom photo) in particular has colors I don't see matched in reproductions - but Alexander's copies stand on their own imo. (and incidentally, if you're interested in that deck, check carefully before buying - there are several generations of copies and look alikes, not all the same.) I updated my post above. Both decks sold for stunning amounts of money.

Dang,

Someone is unloading some nice rare decks for cheap it seems. Wish I messaged the seller for a deal like this..

Seems to be a clearing house fire sale.

$200 as a bundle sale, wow!
There isn’t one deck in that picture where its value isn’t worth $200 alone or more imo.

Crazy to say the least..

Incorrect. I thought that too with a previous listing of his. The seller is using eBay to conduct the transaction for a collection of his friend's father who passed away. He is taking money via Zelle outside of eBay. That bundle went for much more.

I am confused. How does that work?

He didn't want to pay the 13% fees on the whole transaction and as a new seller, eBay was holding his funds, so he made a private listing on eBay after negotiating with a buyer via email. Part of it is via eBay for some buyer/seller protection on that amount, the rest being a private transaction. It's all technically against eBay policies.

I only know all this because I was nosy and asked.

Thanks for the info. What would happen if someone, not the private buyer, was to buy it through the listing?

Usually it's coordinated with both parties and named something that wouldn't come up right away. Like the listing title "Pcards Lot for devjyot_0."

The seller could always cancel in the very unlikely event someone else bought the listing.

I really hope Lorenzo sees this, and allows new Patreon members to get a crack at a copy of the hardcover. Maybe a raffle or other means if the demand outweights the supply. Otherwise, if he just announces the leftovers are on the website, this scalper will buy them all up!

Easily resolved by placing a cap on the purchase quantity.
