That would be a good start, except the leather might be more like a never before seen tuck material. That one part I really don't know, so it's just an educated guess.

Gold? Certainly!

So wait a minute- you're calling this the 'most luxurious deck ever made' and that is without knowing what the tuck case looks like!? Not for nothing but i seldom open my decks so unless the tuck case looks good, it surly won't stand out in my collection.

Nah... Zee plane, zee plain!

@vasta I have seen the tuck, but not the touch & feel of the material. Maybe closer to shark skin? I'm not sure.

Personally, I hope this is made so it can be displayed and not just the tuck.

Is it Lotrek's Byzantine? Or a different project?

Different. Let's not forget that I have the "Deck that killed Dondorf" for their 100th anniversary Jubilee (#1000 "Hundertjahrkart"), long considered by vintage & antique collectors to be the finest ever made and permission from CartaMundi to do a restoration, but that's not it, either:

What I have seen is far beyond...

Here's a question- who's printing it? EPCC? LPCC? Same place you got the Gold Vex's printed (Greece?)? Knowing you I wouldn't put my money on USPCC.

What if it were "none of the above"?

Will it be produced by CartaMundi? :)

Then I'd say we're par for the course!

Oh, hell no! Sorry, should have made that clear. Not "Fair Play's", either.

We must have crossed swords, badpete - Baptiste-Paul Grimaud? I didn't think they were still in business. Nope.

Here I was thinking it was going to be your reprint with the Chromographix process you'd been working on. So will it be a different deck printed by Chromographix?

Oh, I didn't say that project was off, it's just not this one.

250 decks of Hundertjahrkart restoration with real metallic gold vice the gold colored backs done in 1933 (and later reprinted as "Royal Gothic" by Waddington with simple backs) are in the pipeline, just not on the front burner.

There was no metallic inks back in 1933 (or the 60's when the reprint was done)...

They will likely be talked about soon enough. They fit this paradigm well, as the luxury decks will all be 250-500 units each. You don't think that someone would go to all this trouble for a single deck, do you?

Mike, this better be good, if it sucks and doesn't live up to expectations, I'm blaming you. Can you give a ballpark figure on what the most luxurious deck will cost, pray tell.

You must be new here, Vic.

Cost? Not my job, but I figure $80-100 including delivery worldwide. Start saving your quarters...

Hand inked cards along with hand foiling?

Or hand foiling on front and back of the cards?

Good to know, after seeing an example in person of what the old style process could do I've been über-psyched to see how well a more modern version could turn out.

Yep, Dondorf Hundertjahrkart, Luxeskarte & l'Hombre were the pinnacles - 80+ years ago.

Can't forget hand gilding. So, hand foiled, gilded cards with maybe some hand illustrated items and a hand made tuck as well that's sealed in wax... Melted and stamped by hand.

Luxury would be a velvet lined tuck box protecting a beautiful set of ivory cards with scrimshawed designs ;)
