I'll take my camcorder as well. Just recently purchased a decent tripod.

Lets see..

"•Currently, iOS, Android 4.0+ and Chromecast devices are live-capable." Not sure if this refers to capable of viewing live events or streaming live events.

But if someone is bringing a laptop and the hotel has decent wifi, perhaps google hangouts might be possible, and that can be streamed live to youtube

Might be possible. I'll definitely have my laptop.

@Mike - Things are getting serious. YOu are hosting a game? I would like to help in any way with your game...I guess we need to set a date and time. How about the night of the 15th? Crap! are the wifes invited also. I guess so... Maybe they can play bridge. :D

Then everyone can bring all their unwanted bridge size decks for them to use. Two birds with one stone

I'll be there but I may not get there till the 16th. What's the $10 buying?

Edit: WTH. I don't play poker much but for $10 I'm in as long as I'm there. Have you decided the 15th or 16th. I may not make it till the 16th but gonna do my best to be there for the 15th.

I wish my wife and I didn't burn up all our vacation time for the year. Sounds like a lot of fun! I used to be the best Texas holdem player around (well among me, my wife and few others).

I am getting pretty excited about this little trip, should be a great time. Though I handle cards on a constant basis I have not had a group of pals to play poker with in years, so that will be one of those things that is simultaneously fun and cringe-inducing. :D

Guys & Gals:

I wanted to wait until I was certain exactly what was going on: I have been sick with the flu and bronchitis since (last) Sunday. Donna has it now, and the club is sponsoring a poker night Thursday evening from 8-10PM in the same area where CARC's "Cocktail reception" is being held, along with Jackson showing and offering his "52+Joker 2014 Deck". I'm going to be commuting instead of staying at the hotel, my wife is simply too ill for me to not do so or expect her to be there either. I have a 500-chip "professional" poker chip set in the car along with several decks of classic cards, like "Tally-Ho!" Split Spades and others and Randy is also bringing several decks for the games. Tom and I will have things there for whoever wants to get in on the game(s), but I'm going to be a no-show for that part, headed home to care for the wife.

Thursday & Friday I will be there around 9:30 for the main sessions and f she's feeling up to it, Donna will be with me Saturday night at the banquet, otherwise I will be there for the UC/Discourse get-together and play things by ear.

Well, I'm not gonna get there till late tonight or early in the morning.

Hope Donna gets to feeling better soon.

Me, too, buddy. She wants to come to the reception tomorrow night, and unless she is feeling better I won't let her because it will tie me in knots. Great timing - I haven't been sick sick in years, and I am barely over it myself.

I know just what you mean, sprouts. When I joined 52+J back in 1997. I was 39 years old, and had only been seriously collecting playing cards for a year or two. I went to their convention that year and quickly learned that there were many people there who had been collecting playing cards longer than I had been alive!

Of course, many/most of them are more than willing to share their knowledge about cards with others, so they, and the club as a whole, are an invaluable resource for other people in the hobby ("newbies" in particular).

Have a great time!

Sprouts took some pix tonight, specifically at Jackson's new deck reveal. Hopefully he will post them here soon!

Now, don't get me wrong, but here's the deal on the deck: unless you are a member, and at the convention - you can't buy one. Even if you are, the first one is $20, and you can buy one more - for $45, or a total of three for $100 (the math doesn't work - I hadn't thought about it, that should be $110).

Now, it is a really good deck, totally different from anything he has done since the original Fed52. Beautiful partly silvered backs, like 10× what was on Exquisite Bold, new courts, awesome throwback telescoping tuck box, which is foiled "six ways to Sunday" inside and out. Limited edition of 500, and a similar less pricey version with a side-load tuck to be sold by CARC, and the decks inside will basically be the same, although gold-toned tuck as opposed to silvered. The Jokers are the 52+Joker logo, AoS carries over the overall 52 theme, which is carried out through and through. Handling is flawless, using the new finish, stock, cut & feel. Even the USPCC rep bought some.

Bill Kalush truly pulled a rabbit out of his hat on this one!

I think that pix CBJ posted of Steve's is post-trouble, but... A good time was had by all, and Sprouts showed them how to play Texas Hold 'em! Winding down at this point, I will post a recap tomorrow.

There were so many people taking pix I didn't do any crappy ones of my own. You all know me and cameras - it's like oil and water. Just can't be mixed well...

Good pix Sprouts.
All - we had a great time and are now in the post-partem [make that Convention!] blues period suffering from withdrawal. Thanks to all who helped - especially our man on the spot Mike R. Also thanks to all who supported the Convention with their attendance. We had a great mix of long-time collectors, newbies and some of the very best current designers. Next year figures to be even bigger and better! Will post as soon as we finalize location and hotel details so you can put it in your schedules.

Hopefully late tomorrow {the 21st] we'll have an order form up on the 52 Plus Joker website for member orders for the sensational 2014 Club Deck. If you have not yet seen pictures visit this link over at the Playing Card Forum - http://www.playingcardforum.com/index.php?topic=7288.0

Hope to see lots of you next year!

Thanks for the photos sprouts. What's with all the decks numbered with post it notes? Is #23 the Vanity Fair deck? Some neat decks and cool to see they had the Brussels Euro Joker Club 1998 which would have been one of 400 from the looks of it.

@ecNate - The numbers are for the auctions. #23 was Coney Island - Elaine Lewis transformation - 1994 #17/50 - 52 + J + 2XC - Mint condition. Do I hear a ding. You're a member of the 52+ Joker now. Would like to meet you next year. I know you think you know your cards. I've seen your post. These ppl will make you feel like a baby in dippers. No joke.
