I have a small box with things I need to grab if the house is burning down. This deck is in it. Enjoy.

Please keep posting such ebay posts about this deck. It's my white whale . Really tough to find one around that price range.

Sometimes lighting strikes twice. I rarely wander around eBay hunting. Rarely even go on eBay these days. However, recently I came across a framed set of several of the cards for $20 buy it now. That was an easy purchase. It is an old frame, which is not surprising. I have no idea what cards I have for the cards showing the backs, but what a great way to display some of these cards. I note that the Ace of Clubs has the tax stamp on it.

What would be a sensible price considering the (apparent) good condition? I was the high bidder.

So, I bid on this after a few gin and bitter lemons; I don't regret doing so, but I probably wouldn't have gone so high sober! :ugdance:

Anyway, it's mine for the bargain price of €406 which I'm okay with.

I know it may seem that you overpaid for the deck. However, I think you will be happy when you have it in hand. It is really a magnificent deck. Congrats on getting it.

I'm okay with the price. It looks to be in really good condition for a deck that's so old.

I already have the reproduction so it'll be interesting to see them side by side.

Will do.

The seller contacted me saying that, due to the cost of the item, eBay required them to add insurance to the postage and so asked for en extra €13; my reply was along the lines of: "I just paid you a huge amount; can you not cover it?" The next message I got was a despatch notice.

I received the deck yesterday and it is in superb condition; I am thrilled with how good it looks. I took a few quick photos as I was checking and counting the cards - all present and correct.

One of the better boxes I've seen. Seriously gorgeous cards. This is one of those decks I just love to admire - the craftsmanship is so good. Congratulations. Thanks for sharing photos.

How does the reproduction compare with the old one? Curious to know. May wanna save me some $ if the reproductions are as good.

I have two of the reproductions, so I can tell you the reproductions are really nice. The originals have gilding around the corners only, which was done to protect the corners from wear during use (gasp). The reproductions have full gilding (if that is your thing). Overall, I really like how they reprinted them and did a very good job. It was definitely not a cheap reproduction effort in my opinion. Of course, my original decks are a lot more beat up that Timmargh, so he may be justifiably biased to the original.

I've seen originals with no gilding (if it wore off, it wore off with no visible trace), gilded corners, and gilded on four sides (on a previous post I outline on which decks). I've never seen reproductions w/o gilding on four sides. (noting this just for the record)

Eric: If you go back a few months on this thread you'll see a photo comparing an original with a reproduction - front and back. Here are a few more at high resolution (hopefully they're saved that way - not sure what UC servers do with them) - hope this helps.

Photo with both cards: Original on the left. Reproduction on the right.

Wow, thanks for the closeups. The reproductions are pretty good themselves. At this point, ANY CI deck I can find will be a great score.

first time posting. (not even sure i am posting this correctly 🤷‍♀️) i found these at an estate sale. I'm not a card collector but i always pick up cheap cards and sell them in a lot. the ones that look a little special i research just in case. after reading almost the entire thread, i am pretty sure these are legit but not 100%. anyone want to confirm either way for me? thanks so much 😊💜

I am by no means an authority on these, but at first glance they look pretty legitimate. Are all the cards there and in the same condition?

Out of curiosity, how much would you want for them were you to sell?

Looks like the real deal indeed. Pictures of the back and court cards always help, too.

I sent you an email, so apologies for repeating myself, but I’ve been looking for this deck to go with the orange box version and I’d love to discuss a price if you’re open to dealing.

If not, please post your eBay link when you list it.

I can't even imagine the excitement I would have if I was at an estate sale and I saw a deck like this!
