Yeah I think this is going to be one of those times where the math is going to thwart me. It's a shame, I GENUINELY like those. I gotta let it slide, even if it means paying Australian retail down the track ... *crosses fingers*. At least I'll get free postage ....

I've spoke to three card enthusiasts based in Australia and all of them weren't amused by the crazy shipping cost and therefore giving up this project. "Just ain't worth it" was the general quote.

Yeah pushing $400 - all told, $120 of it just the shipping - for 3 decks is ludicrous.

I am helping a friend in Australia by having him send his order to me, and then I will ship it on to Australia using USPS. I am not sure the cost, but it has to be cheaper than that. Just a thought if that is the deciding factor. If that is something you want to do, just PM me.

I would be surprised if it costs >$40.

Were all 500 for sale for this round or is he saving some for the next release? Also, did he ever say how many of the gold editions were made?

Only 300 were put on sale. So they sold 213 rather than 413.. Mostly on the first day though

If you can’t fit the package in a padded priority envelope @38US, then it will have to go via medium priority box @82

If/when they release a box with six decks included, I might have to jump on that
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
I can always just sell the extra decks

I just received my box and decks. This box is massive and heavy. I think it could get run over by a car and the decks would be safe inside. It is actually a bit bigger than my brick boxes. Aside from the size, it is a gorgeous box for the set. It is a nice display piece. I haven’t opened any of the decks yet, but I plan on opening a black deck soon.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I particularly liked that there are two different hues of metallic gold ink on the faces: the shiny gold that's used on the backs, and a second, more muted metallic gold (almost a brassy color) that's used for contrast.
The tuck earns some early consideration for best of the year, I think.

I opened one of the decks and really like it. It has a more antiquated vibe from the Tavern on the Green’s Art Deco vibe. I really would have liked the back in metalLux, but still good. $12 with the discount I think still makes this a good buy, if just for the regular decks.

Yes the black deck is quite nice!
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
Excellent embossing as I expected, and the inside of the tuck is worth taking a look at

In terms of the tuck I love the Ace (lion) side, the other side, however, doesn't stand out to me, it's nice and detailed, but doesn't have the wow effect. Not a huge fan of the courts, they kinds just look like the Tavern ones to me but the pips are probably the nicest pips I've seen in a long time. (Spades are the favorite) It's hieroglyphic nature make each of them seem like its own art. An art within an art. The aces are solid but felt like they could have done more with the Jokers and ad cards. The box is great and I'm really glad they used leather instead of felt. Just looks and feels a tad bit cleaner. Great purchase, I don't think the box is overpriced (esp. with the discount) surprised that there are still 44 left/300 sold. I feel like if this was a Kingswild/ Alex Chin kickstarter project they would all be gone in a few min.

The box is overpriced by at least $50 - even with the discount.
If JR or AC was selling it I'd pass all the same.
JR/AC wouldn't leave 3 slots open, either. If the box was full of 6 decks it would be at least an 'okay' deal.

Can't agree more. What if they release the rest three decks and asking for $150? what if they release the rest three decks two years later?
I may buy one just because I like the art so that I'm willing to pay at a big premium

I have been comparing the Standards deck with Kevin Cantrell’s Tavern on the Green deck. I like both decks. Standards definitely has a strong Victorian design compared with the 1920s design for Tavern on the Green.
I give a slight nod to Tavern on the Green because I think the 1920’s design better fits Kevin Cantrell’s style of art. The court outfits are just great. Honestly though, both are great decks in their own right and have great attention to detail.
Also like the Tavern’s green tuck, but maybe that is because I’m Irish.

Let's not forget that without the discount code the Tavern on the Green was under $10 and Standards was over $5 more than that. D$D sure have an ego..

Not to disagree here, but on another note, it's Art of Play facing off with Theory 11, a lopsided battle since the latter offers the cheapest custom decks in the business. And aftermarket retailers are now asking over $20 for a deck of Tavern; JPGames asks for £24.99 GBP

I know Art of Play still has some box sets not included in this release. However, just to let those know that still want one of these sets, only 17 remain on their website, so best order it now or hope you get one later.
