He doesn't shy away from any criticism (constructive or otherwise) when it would be quite easy to go radio-silent and just launch the campaign. Regardless of whether you plan to back this campaign or not, I think he deserves and immense amount of respect (if he somehow hasn't already earned that) for his approach to these discussions.
i couldn't agree more. Omar is beyond professional and engaging. Top notch in his interactivity here. all respect is due.

This isn’t a universal sentiment. This is an opinion. There are plenty of people paying top dollar for apple computers, teslas, and more. And a lot of people who think very highly of the quality of those products as well. Some hold them to be the pinnacle and standard by which all others are measured. If the TGW brand is one day regarded in the same way then I would be extremely proud.
oh for sure, definitely an opinion that is not universal. i would argue that many, if not most, if not the vast majority, of ''luxury brands'' are not superior quality. just image and hype that people like because other people like them. off topic and not really applicable to you though.

I happen to like limited decks. I like large production numbers as well. I'm not entirely sure where my collector dopamine hit is going to come from next, but I know that it happens and it's not always predictable.

There are elements of this campaign I love. A couple I love. A few I don't care for.

What I do absolutely LOVE is how engaged with this community TGW is. Probably more patient and understanding than I would be about discussions that in my opinion have dragged on ad nauseum. I didn't get Parlor. I went all in on Tempest. I'm on the fence on this one. All three are and will be a success and what I am convinced of is he will continue to learn and improve.

Overall my feeling is that TGW has been a positive contributor to UC and the wider playing card community. For me and my hobby/obsession that can only be a good thing.

Thanks! This means a lot. All of you who have mentioned your appreciation of my continued presence here on UC; THANK YOU. Hoping you will end up on the 'backer' side of the fence! :)

Shifting back to the cards rather than the campaign... Can we see the improvements to the black deck?

Completely agree with everything said here.

Let me join the chorus: we all sometimes disagree, and there is VERY LITTLE that *everyone* here can agree upon (other than, like, we enjoy playing cards for whatever reason), but I absolutely love, love, love that we get to engage in talking about our bizarre hobby with other enthusiasts here, including designers, producers, retailers, brokers, commentators, uncommon taters, and enthusiasts such as myself.

I love that Omar continues the discussion with us, and that other designers and producers are chiming in (like Jackson and Lorenzo and Randy, et al). And, I will note like others have mentioned above, I was intending to sit this campaign out, but through the discussion here (along with the images Omar has shared) I've decided that I *will* be adding these to my collection. While I will not be pursuing the Prism (as much as I very much want to have it in my hands), I've come to a peaceful place where I am okay with letting it go.

(Although, Omar, if you are ever feeling generous with any, er, production overruns, I wouldn't mind if you considered me worthy of adding to your short list of people you might be willing to make an arrangement with. Ahem. ;-))

But, cereally, folks. I love this community. Even those who are perhaps a bit more, well, abrupt at expressing your disagreements than is absolutely necessary.

Looking forward to these, as well, although I know we're in good hands. :-)

Bunch of improvements to the KS page have been made (new images, clarification, a reward tier section, etc.). Please check it out.

i noticed on the campaign that the white edition will have custom seal at 250%. of course i would rather not have a seal at all but will this seal be a bottom tuck seal like the parlor or is it going to be the traditional seal that will rip off the 4 layers of foil it is put on? put all this work into a gorgeous 4 foil tuck and cover it with a sticker.

I want to go in for the five deck set, which at $199 would be my biggest KS pledge ever - I wish I could justify the box and Prism deck but I can't :(

The red, blue and black decks can be bought separately means they have their own tier. Next tuesday is arriving soon.

It is almost Tuesday and I am excited. Hoping I can attend the launch on Youtube.

I know it has been said multiple times but I wanted to echo the sentiment that it is really great to have Omar engaging with the community whether it is praise or criticism. Most types of feedback are good and helps the designer see opinions of members of the community and lets us as members of the community have insight into the design decisions. I appreciate your transparency Omar and am looking forward to seeing the Successor and your future campaigns.

See you Tuesday!

Yeah I can’t believe it’s finally here. So much left to do. I have to finish the campaign video. Do my preview for YouTube. Then launch stream. Then I’m gonna be in 100% promo mode. Need to release a deck review a week during the campaign.

I have already begun to practice scrolling to bottom of reward tiers.... praying and hoping to be in first 29, hate when resellers get the goodies like eoto codex key.🙏 Way more excited for this then any other KS campaign this year. Already got a spot in my display case front and center for that gorgeous sarcophagus.

It's hilarious to me when people say they practice scrolling the tier list to get to the one they want, I do it too! When a campaign launch, I quickly go the the Reward tiers, pledge, then make any add-ons or adjustments and finally I read the Campaign information.

Of course we mostly shoot for the EBs pledges but I don't mind at times when they're gone because that's a little more money for campaigns to fund.

i used to try and get the EBs too years ago until i realized i generally was only saving about $2 so i dont sweat it anymore. rarely is the EB saving one an appreciable amount.

I really appreciate the input. Helps me to understand things clearly and make better choices and decisions. I will be unveiling all of the decks from the beginning so there will be no mystery there. Ultimately the LAST thing i want my backers to feel is disrespected. BELIEVE me. I owe every backer a huge thank you for the amazing support you've all shown me!
[/quote]

I find this comment particularly funny because you definitely intended to disrespect me with the reply to the message I sent asking if my Wylenti deck was one of the Wylenti decks that was going to ship late.

Not sure what you are referring to. But I would never be intentionally disrespectful. Most likely I apologized for any inconvenience and then asked for more info or proceeded to say that I would look into it. Feel free to send me a follow up message you can imagine that I’ve had a lot going on in the last few weeks (on top of the flu which I recently recovered from). Regardless despite printing over 30k decks for the tempest making sure each and every one finds its home is important to me. Please reach out to me again and we will do our best to get to the root of the problem. Thanks.

You fixed the issue. I was happy with the extra decks you sent along with the late Wylenti decks. I didn't mind the delay. Your wording and tone suggested to me you were frustrated with something when you replied to my message. I assumed it was me.

I don't want to take up any more of your time. I know you are super busy. I should not have bothered you with this after so much time had passed. You have my apologies.

There's a finite number available and they won't be made again. I think collectors in general are the type of people who value and take pride in pieces that are hard to come by or unique in that way.

(2)The one issue Successor faces is that funding a campaign with the items I am planning on making means setting some boundaries on manufacturing. These deluxe boxes are not cheap to cast/make/ship. So a limitation of 400 makes the project manageable. Not that selling 3400 wouldn't be a great problem to have--but it would be a problem. lol.

(3)I think bud there is one thing you are overlooking... and collectors/consumers/fans/backers will always look at it your way... but those exorbitant prices on the secondary market for old releases--even though they translate in no monetary or financial benefit to the original project creator--genuinely produce more desire, anticipation and in turn revenue on future projects. Nothing creates fervor like it. In fact you can argue that your entire post is a direct response to the FEELINGS that those practices bring up. Frustration? Desperation? FOMO? It sounds counterproductive but it sells products.
1. scarcity does for some increase desirability, i certainly cannot disagree. however, i also don't think that number has to be so small. as someone else said, one for each backer is fine. future collectors will still see it as hard to get but you aren't screwing over the people that are already paying for your campaign.

2. this is why i tried to limit what i was saying do decks of cards. as card collectors that is the main thing we are there for and some also like those other items. i in no way mean that you should have 3400 ebony wood, gold plated, 3 pound casting covered collectors boxes on the ready.

3. so if the hype you are trying to build by making it a purposefully limited supply is to increase future sales, why not just increase future sales by actually selling more? i would argue that actually selling more accomplishes the same goal without pissing off a segment of your consumer base. yes my whole post was directed by the FEELINGS that those practices bring up. you know what those feelings also do? stop me from buying products from creators/companies/brands that make me FEEL irritated, frustrated and pissed off. there are only so many times someone is going to get shafted by only being able to buy 4 out of 6, for this example, in a set and still buy your product at all. oh well, you build up enough hype to get enough new customers to cancel out the loss from old ones? (not saying you in particular are purposely doing this) i think that is a pretty disrespectful way to treat a consumer base that was there from the beginning.

the ONLY brick i have EVER bought was The Parlour. plus add ons during the campaign. i was caught up in the hype because i love your videos and your ''brand". hundreds of dollars. after that campaign and others like it, and this on the tempest "Some other yet-to-be-unlocked stretch goals may contain some limited items. These items will have a specific count (i.e. 1000 or 777 etc.). These items will only be made available as part of new tiers. Backers wanting to add these new rare and limited items will need to move into the newly available limited tiers.", you want to know how much i spent on your second campaign? a $49 trio. why? because it is all too much. I'm not going to sit there and babysit a campaign again. I'm not going to keep switching tiers or adding add ons. if all of those decks were available at the beginning i would have bought them all.

but hey, you got some hype, you sold out of your artificially limited decks. you got to bump up resale value for the aftermarket. you'll likely get to sell all of your limited items again. so its all good right? so i guess we will see how this campaign goes. what and if ill pledge for anything. at the end of the day, these are all my opinions, which it seems many may agree on. its your call ultimately. do you do what you can to please current and former backers who are true collectors or do what you need to do to build hype by limiting decks to build up aftermarket value knowing that some of your backers wont be able to get =some of your decks. it sounds like you are tryin to mitigate some of that which is good. some just dgaf.
I just saw this since i'm fairly new to collecting. But this seems like the marketing technique of the Darkside - INFERNO cards campaign?!?! Correct me if i'm wrong, I feel so woke after reading this...

Creating demand/hype with scarcity is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Older than custom playing cards. Many have used it before, inside and out of the realm of playing cards.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.
