Very true. But I think we can agree the Robusto stock is not soft. :)

The reason it's so confusing is not only this, but they insist that Master" stock (paper) has Master from bush, etc. They tie the two completely different things together with that idea to start with. You can't get Master finish with Rubusto (nor Damask) paper.

Did anyone else order the Superior Brand Classic Back Readers from CARC? Just opened a deck and I'm not really digging the Damask finish. I can see the finish on the cards. And although it feels okay, I don't like how it looks. I don't know how to explain it other than it's not OCD friendly. (Not that I consider myself OCD but symmetry and details are important to me.)

Was wondering what everyone else thought of the finish.

I ordered a few, and opened one deck. I haven't played with it too much; it fans perfectly and feels excellent. The lighting in the room where I opened them isn't the brightest room in the house; I should probably take a look at the cards there and see if I notice anything about the finish, but it looked fine to me at first glance. Are you seeing the finish on both sides, or just one or the other?

I see it on both sides (a crosshatch pattern). I'll see if I can capture it on video tonight. I checked 2 of my 3 decks and saw on both.

And agreed on the feel. They fan wonderfully.

Okay, so if you're seeing tiny, tightly-packed vertical and horizontal lines, I see that, too. But, I see that on every Bicycle deck. That's the "linen" finish that creates the air pockets that make the cards slide better. What is it about the Damask version that you dislike more than any standard Linen (or Cambric, etc.) pattern?

Based on the pictures they've posted the secret is not very well concealed nor clever. I'll be getting mine today, but I wish I had paid more attention. I only bought two, but might've only bought one if I'd noticed how easily marked they are.

Yeah, when I riffled the deck, I laughed at the marking system.

AH! I figured it would be, as standard as the faces are. Who's got a 'decoder ring' for these?

It's a 2 letter code with the pip value and the suit. So AH for ace of hearts, 9C for 9 of clubs, etc. No dots or swirls or anything. Literally, "9C" on the back of the card.

I suppose I should have looked at the open deck I have, eh?

Is it only 150 or all of them? Surprised they haven't sold out again yet.

I think the $25 price tag has something to do with that.

I finally decided to get the Robusto Classic/Superior deck. I put it off because I'm getting increasingly tired of the ridiculous claims Bill Kalush is putting out there about LPCC decks, but curiosity finally got the better of me. First, here is a quote from Kalush:

"simply put, it’s the thickest, strongest, most elegant stock ever used for playing cards."

That is a bold statement, and in order to make such a statement, you better back it up with thorough research so you don't end up sounding like a clown. As I have mentioned before, the thickest, strongest, stiffest stock I've ever used was Modiano's Triplex stock. With decks made of Triplex stock, I literally cannot bend an entire deck into a U shape, in fact, its hard to bend an entire deck even a little bit. Simply put, Robusto doesn't even come close. I should've have been surprised in this age of over-hype. . .

Having said that, I do like the stock. Kalush's silly nonsense aside, it is a very stiff stock. Although its too early to tell, I have confidence in the long term durability of this stock. As much as I like Modiano Triplex stock, its basically only suited for playing poker or other card games since its actually too stiff for cardistry purposes. But the Robusto stock is flexible enough to manipulate. I also picked up a couple of Robusto Classic Reserves and the foiling on the backs of the cards are exquisite. The fully foiled backs of the Classic reserves are as beautiful and well-executed as Bicycle's MetaLuxe Rider Backs and T11's Gold Monarchs, two other fully foiled decks. So at the end of the day, I didn't regret the purchase.

If these are classic finish decks, that's a tough price to beat for a brick of decks.

Wonder if there is going to be a mixed brick, which I would like to get...though at those prices, might as well as get all three bricks

I hope they are available individually as well. Would not make sense to just sell them by the brick, not everyone wants a brick.

If anyone plans on buying at least 1 brick , let me know and maybe with 3 people we all can have 1 brick with 4 decks of each color. I have done that before with members and it works great. We all send each other 4 decks of other color. Please PM me if you are interested

Anyone know how the new red deck is different than the Superior Brand - Classic Back - Readers that was released a while ago?

I saw this in the description

Also, the cards closely match our Superior Classic Readers: the few, subtle differences in the tuck cases will allow you to tell them apart!
