Is it me, or are the Spades in the wrong direction when compared to the Clubs/Hearts on in the banners going around the globes?

I think you're right. What a disappointment.

Correct me if I'm missing something, but so far I can see a single colour, heavily designed, back with custom aces and jokers in a very nice looking box.

So.... almost a stereotypical T11 new release then?

Forgive me if I haven't passed out in anticipation.

Oh that's good. I see these on eBay (oddly enough before they go on sale) for $12.95.

I wouldn't have gotten these, but I have points from past purchases and their wheel contest so free plus shipping is worth it for the tuck. Courts are meh for my purposes though.

I totally agree. I love such gadgets, but not at that price :? :?
Overall the deck is just what you expect from t11, more of the same, when is working why change it...

No discounts anymore when buying 3 or more decks...uh?
Dont get me wrong, $7.95 is a top price nowadays!
The courts are okay...for Theory11 a step in the right direction.

I like the book lamp too! ;)
It´s a bit overpriced - $99.95 would have been a more realistic price. You can get the necessary electronic parts plus Edison lamp for about $25.

Just picked up 4 decks, ya I would have bought the book light but with the Canadian dollar so low it will cost over $200(Canadian), not worth it, but its really nice, wish it was $100

That's why they named it contraband b/c it should be illegal to make them all one-eyed. :ugdance:

Man, I gotta say I feel let down by that back design, its so busy. I wish they used the design in the inside of the tuck as the back design instead. I picked up a few anyway because the tuck looks that good. Its also nice to see T11 finally putting out custom courts, even if they are all one-eyed. ;)

Ill probably pick one up locally when it comes, those courts are wayyy too similar, and the KoH looks like a jack without a beard. Ah well..

I almost ordered some, then I stopped. I may order one still. The tuck and the aces are nice. I'm not a huge fan of all the Latin on the card back but the one thing that's getting to me more than anything else... those courts. I get it, the courts are looking the other way so to speak. I just don't dig on them, I wish I did. I'm not in the habit of a tuck box collection. :|

To be completely honest, I think the teasers all slow rolled for so long had built this deck up so much in my mind. The anticipation so great, those courts and card back have sapped it. The coolest thing to me now, is that book do hickey haha. That's pretty slick really.

feel the same, will prolly wait till it comes locally get a few decks.
There aren't any 'offers' as well so no point to buy it off T11... unless for their points :)

I think this is the first time they put images up showing every court and every ace. Brings a tear to my eye.

USPCC really needs to step up their game (at least concerning printing recognition) if they want to stay serious competition for EPCC / LPCC.

Umm, I don't think USPCC is much concerned with being serious competition for EPCC/LPCC, its the other way around. I'm gussing that the value of the USPCC's contract with just one major casino (and they have several of these, in addition to all the other custom contract work they do) dwarfs the total amount of money the Asian manufacturer's make combined in one year. This is the problem when you're so big, you don't care about, or notice, the little ants scurrying about underfoot. EPCC can be more efficient than the USPCC because they're so much smaller.

I'm also going to guess that the USPCC prints out more cards in a week than the Asian manufacturers do in a year. Given this mass quantitiy, its inevitable that you'll have the occasional quality control issues. Having said this, I've yet to have a misaligned EPCC/LPCC deck, so maybe the USPCC should look into improving their registration because we've now seen it can be done better.

Despite some of the issues that T11 has, providing refunds for defective decks isn't one of them. I'm certain if you shoot T11 a message with a picture of the misalignment, they'll be more than happy to issue you a replacement deck.

I tend to agree, USPCC is consistently and constantly popping out decks. They're still pretty deep in it, and the backlog of work isn't exactly getting smaller. The alignment issues most of us are bothered by aren't going to be addressed from competition which very likely isn't hurting but helping take the load off. Complaints may do something. Possibly add their numbers to your dial directory and ask them what's going on and if they have some means to keep this to a minimum in the future. The best way to see some fixes happening is to do it with a smile.

General public user complaints do matter to companies.

I just read through all 5 pages of this thread to try to see what symbology of "contraband" I was missing in these cards, but it appears that there really isn't any or very much. There is Latin, Italian, and a bunch of everything else insofar as designs go, but I guess it was misnamed just a tad. Still, the tuck is beautiful (the black version) and looks and feels premium to me. (Yes, I know I'm late to this party, but I still wanted to offer my two cents' worth.)

I just realized looking at the Contraband deck the meaning of the courts. There aren't 4 Kings, 4 Jacks, and 4 Queens on this deck. There are actually 1 of each. It's the same person, at different age of their life. So the hearts are young, then come diamonds, then clubs and finally spades. Look at the courts, queens in particular. It's the same face, different age. Same with jacks and kings.

Also I have been thinking the aces a bit. Ace of hearts has clear biblical symbols. The snake eating a heart, gates of paradise, an apple, two people at the bottom, so perhaps it The Beginning.

Ace of diamonds has swords, clashing swords, crowns etc. Symbols of power and war. Present day?

Ace of clubs has clear death symbols with the clock, hourglass, scythe etc. So perhaps The Apocalypse.

No idea what the Ace of Spades means. A new world? I haven't read even a half a page of the Bible, so I have no idea if there are any biblical symbols there referring to the new world.

Joker, all seeing eye, and fills the entire card. All-mighty God.

That's just my interpretation though.

But I'm right about the courts, of that I am sure.
