@Kickstarter:
The Gilded Edition release will be a set of all three decks with a special leather bound book box I’ll be hand binding myself (book binding is a one of my passions as you might have been able to tell from all the pictures with the cast-iron book press in this project). The decks will have edges gilded with palladium leaf. Palladium leaf is more expensive than silver leaf and has one major advantage. Palladium leaf does not tarnish, or oxidize, and maintains it’s finish under the harshest of conditions. It’s so stable in fact, that it’s used for gilding in conditions where it will be exposed to outdoor elements. Personally I think it’s more beautiful too, it has a slightly warmer tone than silver leaf. There will only be 25 of these very rare and special sets made available. Because these decks will be EXTREMELY labor intensive to produce, they will be a new reward tier and will cost $500.

All I can do is laugh.

I posted a comment on KS asking who is gonna do the gilding. If it's Peter Dunham I might bite the bullet. Otherwise I don't think so. But I bet that the five backers who pledged at the $500/$1000 level will go for it.

Oh, okay. I was thinking I'd get in on the campaign if the Gilded decks are released, but nvm. Gilded decks are one of my weaknesses, and I've purchased quite a number of expensive decks in the past, but I haven't yet gotten to the point where I'm okay with spending $500 for a single deck.

Lol. You're right. But we need to find a way to make room for Lorenzo's deck as well. Haha I'm glad they didn't launch together.

I am not surprised this deck has done so well. It is just so extremely beautiful. Well done...

It's looking like this will be my most expensive Kickstarter pledge to date (out of 94 projects). Amazing artwork, great Kickstarter project, excellent marketing. He sucked me right in.

I'm sort of hoping the gilded deck doesn't get reached. My pledge is at $333 so far. I really can't afford this!

Out of curiosity, what is the breakdown of what you're ordering?

I've got just shy of 200 in the project, and this includes two prints. I don't know how into prints card people are, but some of these I feel like I need on my wall!

3 light decks, 3 dark decks, 3 expansion decks, 2 prints, 2 expansion boxes, 1 kerchief and 1 book I think.

There's no way I'd be able to justify pledging for a gilded deck, gilding is nice but it doesn't add that much for me. Normally I'm not big on add-ons but I quite like tarot / cartomancy stuff so grabbed a kerchief, I'm a sucker for art books so that was a definate and I have 2 of Chris' calaveras prints and their stunning so I wanted to add to that set.

All the above with shipping to the UK too so it gets quite pricey

I've been wanting one of Chris' prints since his first campaign. I think I might finally have to break down and get that King of Spades...

You may want to wait and see if the gilded goal is met. Chris had mentioned to me that he may bundle a few things in for the $500 each such as the book and perhaps other things. So it MAY end up being a good deal. Shhh

I'm probably gonna have to get a print from Chris's shop (if they become available) rather than from the KS project. =S

His shop still doesn't have oracle prints available yet so it might be a while.

I think Jackson was the first to make a handy pledge calculator (Sherlock Holmes). With Kickstarters becoming more complex with add-ons and fluff items, it seems this should be a vital tool just like the "How to Manage your Pledge" video they keep posting.

It saved me a good chunk of money too. Switched my pledge from 1 deck plus 2 prints to the 1 deck, 1 uncut, and 1 print and got the second print as an add-on. It makes the uncut sheet 25 dollars extra as opposed to his add-on price of 50.

From Update:

The cost will be $500, and will not only include the gilded decks and leather book case, but also everything at the current $500 level. That means a brick (12) decks of cards, mixed as you’d like, and 10 prints.

I think that the gilded deck tiers are suddenly good value now. But still too rich for my blood. Ill leave it you highrollers

It's cool and all, but I don't want ten prints or an entire brick. I'd rather keep my pledge at the high level it is and get a good variety of stuff!

So there will be 45 total sets of gilded decks available, so I think everyone that is ready to pluck down the money should be able to get one.

I thought long and hard on that one and took the plunge. I wish i could have done both that one and the Lotrek 4 deck pledge but I had to pick and went for these. I think i will start listing my 1950s hockey card gems on ebay to bring in some cash flow hehe

i made a last minute decision to get them too. Had to cancel a bunch of other pledges that I don't care about though.
