Thanks guys! Haha theres is always room fro improvement, and i can definitely do better with the right props, i love having stuff related to the cards to work with, always adds a further dimension to the pictures.

On a different note, im in imperial heaven !

Might re-do this one in the future if given the correct scenerio, as much as i think maroon fits the deck, i can imagine this being in a more gritty maybe gravelly environment.

Nice! I think that the deck standing on end would work better if it weren't straight on, but at more of an oblique angle, like everything else in the shot.

As for props, you should spring for, say, an even dozen Faberge eggs, placed in a Styrofoam egg carton.

Of course, you might have to create a Kiskstarter campaign to fund that photo! :D

I considered that option as well ! I think i actually have a couple of shots that i did with that deck at a very slight angle, but didnt look quite as good. Perhaps i needed to have it at a larger angle, I think i was having difficulty with the reflection at that time.

Rob would you be my first backer if i do that ?

Drat the luck, I promised my wife just yesterday that I would not spend any more money on playing cards for a while.

...of course, we did not define how long "a while" is...

:D :D :D :D :D

Haha I dont think your wife has to worry. My funding goal would have to be at least 50 Million to obtain the eggs, maybe after the shoot ill pluck out the jewels as backer rewards.

On a more serious note, sometimes i wish creators would include an extra little something for backers instead of just the cards so I can add a little more dimension to the photos i take.

Just invite us all to an egg hunt in your back yard.

Tell you what: when I get around to creating my "Celebrate!" deck, if you are one of its KS backers, I'll throw in a handful of multi-colored metallic confetti with each of your reward decks.

And maybe a party hat, if you're good.

Nearly thirty years old (1985), IIRC...
volantangel wrote:The oldest deck in my collection, deserves more than one photo =)
The oldest deck in my collection is from the 1880s, but I have a collector friend whose oldest deck is a round German deck with flower suits (roses, carnations, etcetera) from the late 1400s!!!

Here are images from that deck, in an archive.org copy of a page from the 52 Plus Joker web site:

Thanks guys, not totally into antique decks simply due to them being too expensive, the last pinochle deck was something i picked up along the way for a decently cheap price =)

Oh, come on now!

First you balk at using a paltry fifty million dollars worth of Faberge' eggs, and now you whine about antique decks being "too expensive"" after I post a link to images of one which is only what - six hundred years old?

What are you, a pauper?

(...says the man who is waiting for his disability check to come tomorrow before he spends around $60 on a handful of modern decks)

Tried something new in the afternoon, discovered shaky hands do not go well with balancing cards. My method is clear as day

Oh and the reason for these pictures are to show how far Paul has pushed the limits of the thin borders!!
