Damn, I really love the Aristocrat 727 bank notes. The Back No. 2 are so hard to find, I really wish the USPCC would reprint those like they reprinted Back No. 1 deck.

These are the ones I want the most of all the decks that have been shown. I hope these won't be limited in their release. I hope they make as many as ordered... And more.

Considering that sticker says 0001/1000 I wouldn't count on it.

I want these the most out of the current line up of decks. I wonder if there's a limit to how much we can order during launch.

Really digging these!

Just one question, seems like the sticker /1000 is on top of the plastic in the first picture, or is it just my perspective?

If that's the case, they'd need to have some pretty strong adhesive to avoid... shenanigans.

Jackson has been doing that with all the holographic seals, no? If they make a kickass sticker that's hard to replicate I think it's ok. Plus it would be crazy labor intensive to have the tucks shipped unwrapped, install the sticker and cellophane it.

At any rate I'm not much for all these extra stickers and what not. I never know what to do with them. Sometimes I out them on the tuck, under the cellophane. Other times under the flap, etc.

I carefully peel off custom seals, stick them on a piece of the cellophane and slide them into the tuck with the cards, so this is good for me - they've already done that part.

This is a good looking deck, though it looks a bit like children's cards with that joker. I like the subdued colours, and the boxes are beautiful with that inside printing. Definitely a deck to be opened and used so it is a shame it's so limited.

My comment was based on the wishful thinking that there'll be a less limited version of these without those stickers. Not that I have any basis for that, but it would be nice :)

There will be 1000 red and 1000 blue Hive decks for a total of 2000 decks though there will be less than that number for sale as we'll be keeping some aside for ourselves. For a lot of those that have wanted Jackson to steer away from crowdfunding, The Hive is completely funded by us. It's been bought and paid for. Unfortunately, since we funded it ourselves, it means that we could not do a large run as we spare no expense to make the best deck that lived up to our vision of it (foil, emboss, printed inside and outside the tuck, and perforated seals on the tucks). I have faith that the deck will sale, but equally it's a lot of money to put out front to expect a return later on; it's a balancing act. The advantage of the crowdfunding is that more decks can be produced as there's less a financial risk on the creator so that the buyers can end up saving. There's pros and cons for every financial choice in how a project is funded.

Posted up on kings wild blog today. I'm on my ipad, but there are a lot of pics at the following link with all the courts.

http://kings-wild-project.myshopify.com ... -card-deck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The HIVE playing card set will be available for purchase on Saturday August 2nd, 12:00pm Central. Quantities are limited.

The Limited Edition Hive Playing Card Deck, designed and illustrated by Brendan Hong and produced by Kings Wild Project is now available for purchase. It is a beautifully designed deck inspired by classic playing card art. This is a fully customized 54 card deck that comes with its own unique court cards to custom Jokers, Ace of Spades and back design. They've been printed to exquisite standard in Taipei in collaboration with EPCC (Expert Playing Card Company). These decks are very limited and only 1000 of each color (Red and Blue) were produced. Each deck comes individually numbered out of 1000.

The two deck sets will come with matching seal numbers for the Red and Blue deck while the Mix Brick will include matching seal numbers for the Red and Blue decks in the set.

I'll probably be in for a set.

By the way, it's $18 a deck. Yeah, it's EPCC and it's still pricey, but I've come to accept that most decks outside of crowd funding are going to cost somewhere between $15-$25. Let's pretend there was a KS campaign where this was $11 a deck and this is the post campaign price. If it's really too expensive, the market will correct itself. Anyway, compared to the rest of the King's Wild Decks being sold outside of crowd funding, this is currently the cheapest (the Tally-Ho's at $12 will be the cheapest once they are made available).

I'm starting to question the economic know-how of Kings Wild. They seriously think they can out-price the entire market ? Granted these might sell since it's 1000 of each, but would you make more than selling 2500 of these priced at 12 a pop ? Don't think so.

Honestly it's a pity, I wish it was T11 or E who picked up Brendan instead of Kings wild, then these decks would truly be available to the public.

Now is that $18 a deck or $18 a matched set? If it's $36 plus shipping for a matched set of a deck made by a company that provides a lower price point than USPCC I'm gonna fly off my rocker here a bit. I like the deck, but don't like them that much. Kings Wild will not be getting my money this time around if it is $18 / deck.

Volant has it right too, it's too bad that one of the big companies didn't get their hands on this design so it could be released in greater numbers and subsequently, greater profit.

This is the problem. Its comments and attitudes like this that enable people like King$ Wild to jack prices. We DO NOT have to accept these prices. It is preposterous that a Taiwanese made deck in a 2000 print run should cost this much and I hope people will vote with their wallets to shut this kind of BS down. If this price doesn't include shipping, then we're giving King$ Wild $22.00 per deck shipped ($20.50 per pair) if they follow the same shipping model as Jack$on's Tally Ho's.

I like the Hive deck, but I don't think it's better than, say, Fed52 or any of Uusi's decks that are at almost half the price for decks printed by the USPCC. I'm equating King$ Wild with D$D now. This is a blatant cash grab, which they're entitled to do if they want, but I'm not participating.

The wording says "two deck set", so from that I assume that it's $18 for each pair. So, with $4-$5 for shipping, $22-3 shipped is a pretty fair price. Heretic went for $11 each, and Lorenzo sold somewhere north of 7000 decks. Not comparing Brendon to Lorenzo, but with the tuck embellishments, it seems a fair price. I mention again, Zenith sold for $20 each, and several people were almost begging to get more than four decks.

That's just total crap, folks. I know everybody has been hooting on me for 'down-trodding' on Jackson, but the fact of the matter is that these decks cost about $5 or $6 each to produce. Jackson has become quite good at turning our "fancy paper" into currency, and the more we keep paying for these outrageous priced decks, the worse it will get. It has to end somewhere, and I for one won't support this ridiculous pricing for decks, it's absolutely absurd, bordering on taking our money because he has our undivided attention. I suppose the argument can be made that we are all victims of his success, but we certainly don't have to keep pumping his wallet full of OUR money.

I am not encouraging anyone to boycott Jackson's products, far from it - I just ordered myself a brick of his "staple" Tally Ho decks - for what I consider an outrageous sum of money. I"m just as guilty as the next person for 'gilding the lily' in this case. Everybody votes with THEIR wallets in this industry, it's not what I do, it's what everybody does that matters. As always, your mileage WILL vary, bound to happen. The decks are as always quite nice, that's not the point nor is it the problem. The problem is that we keep pushing these prices up by buying them no matter where the prices go. Jackson is not alone in that - not at all, there are quite a few people that have chosen as others have pointed out to keep pushing prices towards the sky rather than passing the savings along to their customers. It's part of doing business, but we don't have to support it. Like I said, we vote with our wallets.

(and no, Eoghann -this time there will be nothing to find if you happen to get by the vault security) Not very likely since you can't get within a mile of my house my land, sea or air without me knowing.

Seriously? Damn... I'll just let everybody else speak up. I really like these, too. Go figure. We get all this hype and build-up about just how great they are going to be and it's all just misdirection so nobody asked "how much?".

What happened to bricks for $100? (or $80 or $60?)

That's not strange at all. They were apparently lowered before, after demand went down following the initial release. Now they're expecting an influx of customers buying the Hive deck, and wants to capitalize on those who feel like picking up a few Fed 52's in the same order.

Again, it's something they're free to do of course, but it reveals that their biggest motivation is not just to make money (as any business) but to make as much money as possible. Price consistency be damned
