I just saw TheGentelemanwake/Wyrmwood go through that with their "groundskeeper" deck when Cartamundi decided to move production after they had already started the campaign and announced the printer.

The mob is fickle as was said in gladiator. BUT

I think your reason is good, and I doubt most people have a positive tie to shuffle ink the way they did to Cartamundi. In the end it didnt make much difference, some people did drop, but again this was a MUCH larger campaign with both a known card maker and a known brand on KS, neither of which you get the benefit of the doubt for.

Its all in how you frame it, I think more people would probably be angrier if you switch post-kickstarter once you have their money. And if you have good reason, first that you have evaluated the cards. And second if you actually have WJPC decks in hand to compare against. "Chinese printer" is likely to have a TERRIBLE reaction to some people, but WJPC is becoming more common in brands people respect (Third way, Stockholm 17). Moving to a known quantity like USPCC or EPCC should be safe. (yes I know EPCC is Taiwanese).

Also remember that changing printers will change your card thickness and therefore the dimensions of the tuck.

I honestly wish I could have Legends or USPCC do the cards, but I'm doing 4 decks with print runs of less than 1000 each, so that really limits who I can work with.

I have emailed EPCC, so hopefully they can give me comparable quotes.

No idea, I googled it to confirm it before I posted that and got Taiwan. Their page doesnt say one way or the other.
Printed in a china just depends on the letters in front of the C.

Dude, switch to WJPC if you can, they are worlds better. They've improved leaps and bounds over the last couple years.

Is the original printer out of the window already? Maybe some adjustments can be made with the files in order to fit their printers correctly? Someone also warned about the too thin borders. This is what prototyping is for until you get it right.

at this point, with the improvements WJPC has been making, i think most would take that as an upgrade over Shuffled Ink. personally, idgas.

I have been working on a syrup based ink for many years. Problem is that it costs more than gold and I can’t stop eating it.

When is the last time you handled a WJPC deck? They've improved a great deal over the past little while

Even the recent ones created by Charmie Dreams the Cat and Hyuga & Mijiko (EYE OF KUKULKAN, SUSHI CAT) are stiff.Maybe it is the foil, but only these seem to be paper differences as the stock says Premium 310gsm-330gsm.
As far as I know, NO.7 and Notorious Gambling Frog are made of 300gsm German paper, and EYE OF KUKULKAN seems stiffer than the other 310gsm ones.

I wish WJPC would give us more information on paper stock and finish...

Companies press cards as well, which makes them less stiff - but I don’t think they press Charmie’s

EYE OF KKULKAN and NOTORIOUS GAMBLING FROG are completely different handling in my opinion, and it is very difficult to judge the printers alone. (Oh, NPCC products can be judged )
Well, SPIRITS Playing Cards has no problem with either. But my preference is the thinner one.

Why didn't you go for Cartamundi? Cartamundi has a minimum print requirement of 1,000 decks, I believe.

Why didn't you go for Cartamundi? Cartamundi has a minimum print requirement of 1,000 decks, I believe.

he has 5 decks, the largest print run of which is 750, 2 of them are only 50.

Also no one knows when Cartamundi is going to start printing custom decks again(moving the entire process to Spain I believe it is), the line for "when will I get my decks" is growing longer every day and no one, even people who had decks in process know when to expect things.

The sheets in the pic are full bleed. I cut a few out to the same size as a regular playing card and my design goes past the edge.

Not sure why you didn't even tried to adjust the files and do proper prototyping with your first printer. But WJPC is an upgrade I think everyone welcomes anyway.

No, the way they do proofs is by sending Uncut sheets.

It just wasn't up to my standard.

That was my experience with Butterfly Holographic which was a recently fulfilled campaign, but that was black card stock so I'm not sure if that played a role. I know Lorenzo's decks through WJPC have been better handling.

THAT'S what I thought. EPCC had a streak of Taiwan projects until their Chinese hookups started consistently delivering features that the Taiwanese plants couldn't. Just 'higher-tech' factory. Likely because of the whole Taiwan situation, they just moved to working exclusively with China unless, as specified, a client REALLY wanted Taiwan.

He's serious about this part. I changed my pledge earlier today to add on items and my Afterlife and Resurrection decks disappeared. That was a rollercoaster of emotions to get them back.
