I would think that the white overlooks are the “Maze back” and the green ones are the “Carpet back”, since the pattern on the back of the cards is the same as the carpet in The Shining.

Not jumping in on the mystery deck train this year. Only a couple I'm interested in and a whole bunch I either don't want or already have.

Has anyone posted pics of the Yosegi deck? I'm curious if they are custom courts and what they look like.

Re: Art of Play Mystery Decks 2022, 2023
Well, the Yosegi deck turned out to be a disappointment. Don't think any of the Mystery Decks this year are worth going for (same as last year). Even the new Overlook deck seems like a worse version of the first one, and quite drab in its colouring. Looks like I can keep hold of my money until the new Odd Fellows deck comes out. And then it will all disappear.

Re: Art of Play Mystery Decks 2022, 2023
I always enjoy the AoP mystery decks, they're obviously not for everyone but I think they're good fun.
Here's what I got. Overall I'm happy—I got a few I already had, but plenty that I wanted as well.

I guess I'm the former since I don't see any fun in helping a company to get rid of trash decks nobody wants.

If you think they’re trash then yeah, they’re definitely not for you. Different people like different thingsHarvonsgard wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:00 pm I guess I'm the former since I don't see any fun in helping a company to get rid of trash decks nobody wants.

Re: Art of Play Mystery Decks 2022, 2023
They wouldn't hide them in a wrapper and discount them if they could sell stuff like Fulton Streets for full price. I didn't say all the decks are trash. But the mystery sale is their marketing strategy of getting rid of theirs.

Re: Art of Play Mystery Decks 2022, 2023
Well yes, I think the marketing strategy is clear. Personally I still find the mystery fun because I generally like all of their decks, and the duplicates make good gifts.

Re: Art of Play Mystery Decks 2022, 2023
I like Mystery decks are cool if you are just starting out and/or are willing to spend the time to sell off what you don't really want. However they are usually not great value if you have a decent size collection or are particular about the cards you collect.

Someone on reddit got a deck I haven't seen before:
I only see a few mentions of this deck here on UC, one post says D&D released these?

Re: Art of Play Mystery Decks 2022, 2023
I bought those way back in the day part of a lot of D&D playing cards, I can't remember much now, but since I described it as being by D&D I'm quite sure they were produced by them (those days I invested quite some time figuring things out, now, not so much)..
