It's a fair question. I have been taking a look at recent campaigns using Cartamundi and I think my pricing for Alterna is right in line with the trends and with the reality of associated costs. Consider Blue Jay, Apoteosi, Apocalisse, and Tempest - all projects that recently printed with Cartamundi. Keep in mind I am not trying to compare my project to established creators - only trying to find a fair value for the Alterna deck.

I know this project is a risk to fund because I am not doing stretch goals and this is my first project. Both editions are decks I would want with the features I would want with a premium deck. Cartamundi is especially expensive to produce cards through and I don't have the benefit of the printing scale that Gio might have to help reduce the per-deck cost. Also, the tuck boxes are feature-heavy. I don't believe I am gouging here, especially not if you are looking to purchase the mixed rewards, half-bricks, and bricks.

My goal is to get these decks out in the wild and to break-even on the costs, which include more than just the printing. I hope after you see the project page you can feel better about making a decision to support or not.

Not long now, thought hey I might get a low number (as the decks will match order number). Then realised with a mixed half brick I will be back of the queue.

Good luck, Bacon... Lets get this funded... :ugdance:

Correction. I was wrong, I will get one deck with my backer number and two random.

Bacon, sorry about your 'Hawks. But great KS page! Clean and concise. Great decks, too. I could flatter you all day with the many things you did right but instead, I'll point out 2 little things I don't like. First off, traditionally jokers should have two separate colors (usually red and black). I suggest changing the font color on one of the jokers. Not a huge deal, just something minor that sprouts always used to point out (I'm not sure how many current members here actually remember him but he used to be the absolute best playing card deck analysts that UC's ever seen... he is missed).
Secondly, I don't like how much blank space is on the courts and backs, at least on the Anatomica Ed. You did a good job adding the faded suits to the courts so they're *okay* but I wish there were some other element that could be added to the back design. I like the cell-like texture you added to the Alterna version but I'm not sure it would work on the Anatomica version. I just wish there was *something* else that made the beautiful bone & tendon design pop even more.
Either way, great job on the decks and I wish you luck on the campaign!

Thanks for the valuable insight! As bizarre as this project is, I don't mind keeping some elements conventional, so I will make the adjustment to the font color - easy stuff. Regarding the courts, there was a lot of white space, especially with the prototype. After adding a simple border, I think it helps with that space without distracting from the illustrations. I appreciate your point of view, as ever!

Best of success πŸ₯“πŸ¦Ύ.

I always like when creators do provide something different when offering two deck campaigns. And yes, the mustache is great πŸ˜ƒ.

After reading through the KS page, I must say:
Oh, I love how these decks are going to turn out. Bacon, you really take your time in deciding on what systems to be featured in each suit, and you picked the right systems - all four that you've picked are probably the most important systems in the human body. And I like how the courts also represent each ethnic.

"these characters take anatomy in an impossible direction" - before I read this passage, I was about to question about how wrong the anatomy is, despite the deck pays homage to anatomy. Notably seen in King of Spades and King of Clubs - KoS that has a weird brain shape, and KoC has an odd horns that resembles a crown. But after that, I guess it is justifiable.
SPADES = Nervous System = Arabic royals
HEARTS = Circulatory System = Asian royals
CLUBS = Skeletal System = European royals
DIAMONDS = Muscular System = African royals (Wakandan vibes?)

I love that all of the aces each has a customized pip. Speaking of it, I think there is a good idea to have a gaff card of Ace of Diamonds - imagining if the gaff card of AoD has something on the tongue that shows a card reveal. Or maybe using the Ace of Clubs, such as how a card reveal is etched on the skull.

The pips for the numbered cards is great, it shows variation - like a dissected and normal ones. It is as if the pips are organs. So Ingenious!

The jokers are amazing! Especially the one that shows the sword swallowing~ Back in those days we've seen the act of sword swallowing, and by seeing this card, we can see how it works. Piece of advice, maybe this sword swallowing joker should have the red text

Overall, oh it's great!

Thank you for the kind words, Ruben! I am glad you noticed the more subtle details and this is a great overview, my friend. I will have an updated Joker image shortly with the font color correction. Vasta was kind enough to point that out as well and I think it's a great idea. Cheers and let's hope this has some legs to get across the finish line!

For pics/gifs hosted on various sites, you often have to right click the image and select "Copy image address" to get the direct link (usually ends in .jpg etc) rather than the website where the image is hosted :)

I'm planning on making a forum guide post for all of these little things, particularly for new members who aren't used to forums like these.

Back on topic: Congrats on funding!
