Alex added singles, but had to take away some of the packages. He just has to balance the decks so he doesn't over sell decks.

They will be cello'd so honestly if you're not opening them you won't be able to see the frieze. If you are opening them the whole point was sacrificing condition and forcing you to cut through a giant seal. If I'm going to be honest though the engraving needs a decently thick stock so if you're careful you could probably pull it up without cutting through. I will say though I would recommend a carat case for singles. Based on the flap structure you can actually feature the warning locks, the riot panel, or the covid/health panel to face your display depending on your preference which I thought was quite nice (especially if you like displaying mixes of vertical and horizontal).
portcullis wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2020 6:18 pm Wait, this year’s deck wasn’t what was initially planned? I’m intrigued. Hope these secret designs see the light of day and are not just shelved.
Long story short my car got broken into and my laptop was stolen which had this year's artwork. It's not a hard deck but it is a bit tedious in execution and I just didn't want to rush it so I did this deck instead. The deck will definitely show up next year, just didn't have the time to execute in the current time frame this year given the circumstances.
sinjin7 wrote: Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:52 pm I wonder why the Queen of Hearts is a one-way design while all the other courts look to be 2-way designs?
I made it as a violator card (a design that breaks consistency). The queen of hearts is Hope. In the original story all of the evil spirits were released and by the time Pandora put the lid back on the box all of the spirits escaped, except Hope. For this deck most of my emotional process of dealing with this year was through the frieze art admittedly, but I did want Hope to be one of the courts. She felt like a very strong allegory for quarantine this year, isolated from the world which I resonated with a lot. Her setting and lighting are based on the tuck box itself. I may have her be the top card on opening to greet you.

I am unsure tbh.
I was in a rush for the set that i forgot to addin one gilded for enjoying :ugthink: Is there any chance i could adjust my placed order to add one more single now?

I went for two full sets. One to keep nice and sealed and one to open.

I had a hard time going for two sets, but I was tempted. I did go for one full set and two extras to open. You can probably get a very good price for that 7th deck if you want to help defray the cost of that second set.

Well only the 5 deck sets are left. No singles, pairs, or triples. :(

There are about 40 full sets left at the bottom of the page. The 5 deck set comes automatically with the sixth Hope deck in the first 48 hours. Apologies if there was any confusion.

Err, sorry about that 7th deck reference. I was confusing with last year. If you by the complete set, then you can always sell the SIXTH deck at a premium...sigh. When is 2020 going to be over already.... :?

When approximately will the decks ship?

An estimate of late Jan would be my guess. I'm not sure how fast it will be to receive the cards but I'm predicting a couple months. Once the cards come in, they'll be loaded, cellophaned, and shipped out fairly quickly. It's not a perfect schedule but given this year's situation with factories I'm happy this deck managed to see the light of day.

This is correct, well certainly true of NPCCD. If you're really lucky Pablo, you might even get a handwritten message on the inside of the shipping box.

Obviously, Alex is one of the most talented men in the business, but the NPCCD decks have easily been his worst work IMO. They are the only works of his that I couldn't care less about.

Sorry, Alex!

There are 2 sides to every coin. I consider every other series that Alex has designed and produced absolute gems. Maybe it's the amount of variants? Whatever it is, I just haven't been attracted to any of the NPCCD decks. *shrug*

The squirrel is twitching his tail in anticipation of getting this series.

I do agree though with theCapraAegagrus about too many variants. The same can be said for most creators. The increase in variants issued seems to keep increasing. It isn't just color swaps, but it does lead to collecting fatigue. However, I'll still make an exception for Alex and the NPCCD decks because he really does bring "custom" to this series. Alex obviously put a lot of thought into the deck this year to fit the mood and circumstances for the year.

As theCapraAegagrus said, Alex is one of the most talented men in the business. I agree. However, just because you recognize someone's talent doesn't mean you will purchase everything they produce. As for this set for me, I want the full set, plus a couple to open and admire.

And, the sale helps fund the operation of Portfolio52, which now houses a record of 11,445 unique decks and 301,000 decks recorded in user's collections. It is amazing to see the database grow so much in such a short time.

Might have nice to have been able to grab some. I’m honestly getting tired of creators making things so limited you aren’t able to get them.

Sorry bud that ain't gonna fly here. You had ample time to make the necessary arrangements to procure some. It's not as though Alex changes the dates for his release. It's never been anything other than October 17.

We're looking at end of February. I had wrote that in the original site description then got a little ambitious with the Jan suggestion here lol. I'll be paying a significant premium to fly these in rather than by sea most to try to keep that initial Feb estimate. Cards were already printed and gilded I believe so once I get confirmation of final shipment we'll be able to begin planning the finishing process.

Ah well, so far the only NPCCD set/deck I won't have.

I'm still in love with 2018 since, chess and I really love the tucks but I'd say NPCCD2020 is the best in the series so far. I can't wait to see how the tucks turn out.
