Happens all the time. I wasn't able to get the "exclusive" NPCCD deck from a few years ago because I didn't attend the 52+J convention in person. Stuff happens. We can't get everything for the price we want. Not even Harvonsgard.

You've mispelled *especially, haha. Inflation smurfs smurf.
Good news that we'll get a real NPCCD set.

Yes I'm not some kid I understand that, I was just saying people are allowed to speak up and say how they feel about it lol I'm sure at some point you voiced your disappointment in that scenario and no one gave you shit for it lol

Yes there will be a NPCCD set this year and continue the line. There were a lot of things floating around with the acquisition and this idea of a new P52 deck I had sort of assumed it would take its place (incorrectly so). The demand for NPCCD is there and at this point it is it's own line. I will ensure that one does come out this year but would give Lorenzo the forefront to introduce the first P52 deck on National Playing Card Collection Day in the meantime as I play a bit of catch up. (Chalk it up to growing pains).

Regarding variations outside of the program, I sort of inherited this project but admittedly I have no qualms with an artist wanting to create another variation for his followers. I myself don't have the patreon exclusive and I'm producing the project lol. If you are a completionist I do understand the pain though.

I don't want to get too off topic but given that Odd Fellows is the first pre-production deck listed on the database I figured it couldn't hurt to add it to this thread.
Image
I've been wanting to integrate the pre-production journey into P52 for a while now and the idea of having artists list their deck on site with their high quality graphics and details they control made a lot of sense to me to ensure deck pages were more robust and accurate. I've only mentioned this in passing on a story a couple hours ago but consensus feedback was to somehow differentiate the KS/pre-order decks from readily produced ones. I whipped up 4 variations quick to get initial opinions. I'm going to guess that the last one will be the most controversial. It incorporates part of the P52 logo design and still keeps the full deck image in tact but becomes a sort of border. Again these graphic violators would eventually disappear once a project was deemed complete and first person received a deck. But it's a way to visually convey information to others while browsing.

Oh! So there is an NPCCD set coming this year. Wonderful. If I've got this right, it's still coming at a date to be fixed and won't be launched on Sunday? With everything going on I wouldn't have minded if you took a fallow year Alex and my wallet certainly wouldn't have minded!!

My only issue is that the plague doctor is an amazing theme and I love it. Not being part of lorenzoโ€™s crowd automatically makes it a lot harder to get. Other then that still an amazing set of decks.

Haha yeah it'll take some time to cram it in but I'll make it happen. I appreciate the patience and yes with all the October stuff it's an opportunity this one time to step back and let the P52 debut deck shine. I think in the future obviously NPCCD will still be in October, but if a P52 line continues (which I do hope) that it will be scheduled opposite the event maybe around April so as not to compete with NPCCD.

Unfortunate that the Patreon version looks more UC than the other two. I know this changed from the UC deck to P52 deck, but would have been nice to have a version in UC green (that nonPatreon UC members could get) as a cobranding tie-in.

Like the merger set from last year... ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. That would've been a dope idea.
One version in the UC colours and one with P52 colours.
One the last UC deck and one the first P52.

I am so Frustrated with with Kickstarter. I was checking from the second it was supposed to drop with nothing showing up. Finally 6 minutes in, I get an email noticing the launch with a link. Only with the direct link can I then find the campaign! Seriously? I am glad at least there were no super limited tiers I would have missed. Backer #241, I could say a lot about Kickstarter, but I am seriously not a fan.

I had the same problem. Backer #171.

Similar here - didnโ€™t see it popping up - did a quick search by name and it came up, managed to get in before the first minute was up - backer #54

Email notification came after the fun was over

Just to clarify for future releases.
- Were you logged in to the KS site waiting for a notification or were you waiting for an email from KS to notify you of the project?
- Did anyone with the pre-launch link have any problems with the redirect?
- If P52 were to create an immediate notification for projects/artists you followed you while logged in on the site, would that be a bonus for you, or does it not matter because you'd already be camping out with a direct link?

I entered the preview link and just refreshed around the launch time. Starting with two minutes early. Even this way I was only backer 24.

I was logged onto Kickstarter and constantly refreshing for a new playing card project, which didn't show up until after I backed the project over 6 minutes after the start date. If there was a pre-launch link, I either didn't have it or forgot it was an option. Either way, Kickstarter should be able to have a project show up as soon as it is posted, which does not appear to be the case all the time. I think that is a problem in their program. It shouldn't make a difference how you get to a project.

Am Backer #55

And also, does it REALLY matters what backer number you are? Itโ€™s not like there is an event where your backer number would match the deck series number youโ€™re having

Yea I was refreshing as well and it never showed until I got the "it launched notification" and even then it didn't show so I had to just click that to get it

A little off topic, but since Lorenzo is also doing the 52+J deck, anyone able to help us int'l and non-members get a deck when it finally releases?

I am impressed that so far there are 207 backers of the Oddest Fellow tier ($250). Especially considering many details are unknown at this tier. I guess it goes to the credibility and respect P52 and Lorenzo have in the community. I am in at this tier and after Lorenzo's patron post, it seems this tier could end up being a real bargain at only $250.

Never forget FOMO not to mention the chance they might lock oddest fellow up later based on the comments on Kickstarter!
But yes there is also faith

so... latest update on the campaign. it appears there will be another deck, octopus theme creature. im sure it will be awesome but can we stop doing this shit? just show us up front. at least say there is a stretch goal for another deck. i am really getting turned off by these campaigns doing this. seems to almost be the norm these days.

i get it but it is just frustrating. i want to know up front what i am pledging for and not pledging for. extras like coins and stickers, whatever. its a playing card campaign and what most of the people are pledging for, show all the decks in the beginning please.

Called it, haha. Little devil's advocat: he teased the octopus back and ace of spades a while ago and since Lorenzo apperantly doesn't like to throw away drafts it was kind of a given.

I would have loved to go for the crazy 200+Eur reward, like I went for the tarot decks campaign, but this time there is no EU friendly shipping so the added customs is something I cannot afford.

you did call it, even if there was some insider info hehe. i dont know what it is but this one just rubbed me the wrong way. i love octopus and nautical themed and i am sure this will not disappoint design wise. it is just becoming to feel more disingenuous than it is secrety and fun. almost like instead of showing 3 versions before the campaign opens them up to "there are too many versions" criticism, they hook you in and then spring it on you after pledging knowing that many(most?) will just dig in their wallets and pop for the extra deck anyway. i feel like many(most?) would have gone in for a 3 deck bundle anyway if it were shown in the beginning. for me, it feels more like "dammit, i didnt expect to have to pay for another deck" and less like " woohoo, i only expected 2 decks. this is awesome."

i don't usually buy the coin in campaigns, but i thought this is only 2 decks and i like the coin so why not? now there is a third deck. well 3 decks, only 2 sides on a coin, so i guess what, another coin too? 2 more coins so each deck has a coin? well, you probably got another deck sale out of me, but probably lost a coin sale.

Would have wished for a less boring colour combo for the tuck box of ๐Ÿฆ‘.
