Oh here’s one more piece of convincing evidence why the Dynastinae is worth what it’s worth.

"Price is what you pay, value is what you get".

I don't think anyone who shells out the big bucks for this campaign will feel it was not worth it. Nice things, especially shiny ones with bells and whistles will set you back some $$$. There are other options. Buy things that bring you value, at whatever price level you are comfortable with and you will be happy. If you're unhappy with what you get, sell or trade it. You're in the right place on UC.

I'm spread really thin right now, just debating if it's worth it to me. Either way I will be there on launch day for the regular decks!

If there is a way to get a 2nd Dynastinae I can sell it to you for a price you are happy with once they get shipped. I dont mind losing money since you were kind enough to sell me that Room 17 a while back. I look at it everyday so it would be my honor to help you out this time and repay the favor.

So the Dynastinae is $65? I was hopping to get 4 dynastinae at $200 but getting 3 and isn't too bad i guess.

I quite agree that the sarcophagus isn't worth the investment for me and I will rather choose a tier with a brick + Dynastinae + Monarch. I just wonder if there will be a single Prism card preview as was during the Tempest campaign.

I also hope for the 350% unlock to get a nice brick box!

Warning, this posts contains some negativity towards this campaign so if this bothers you please skip.

First off, I think the decks in this campaign are phenomenal. The preview pictures show that these are going to be some stunning decks and I have been so looking forward to this campaign. But, after looking over the preview I am very disappointed and now not as excited for this campaign.

I was able to get a Prism deck for the Tempest campaign but I do not think I can afford it for this one. If my math is correct to get one of each of the nonPrism decks would be $199. To get a single Prism deck I need to spend an additional $276 as I am forced to upgrade to the Sarcophagus which includes only a single deck of each. As nice as the Sarcophagus is I am sure, I collect playing cards not accessories. I completely understand this is Omar's campaign and he can run it the way he wants and he has been incredibly helpful by providing insight which is much appreciated but at the same time these forums are meant for collectors to also provide their thoughts. To be honest, I am very disappointed that the only way to get the Prism deck I am forced to get something at such an extreme cost. It just feels a bit money grabbing like to me. Sorry, if this is not well received but to be honest the pledge levels are not well received by me.

I know I am probably in the minority here so he is probably wise to ignore my thoughts as I am sure this campaign will do great.

If JR can sell over 580 Legacy Editions at $200 a pop, Omar will sell a lot of the Sarcophagi (?). I am also not a fan of the Legacy Edition. However, the massive difference between these two campaigns is that I can get all the LotR decks without getting the wooden box, in this campaign I am not able to do so, I must get the Sarcophagus. I will also say that I have great positivity towards the LotR campaign and I very much appreciate JR constructing the pledges like he has. It feels like the LotR campaign considers all playing card colllectors.

Other than saying it is his campaign and he can do what he wants which I respect, I still do not understand why the Prism deck is not available without the massive Sarcophagus. The Sarcophagus looks very nice and should be able to stand on its own like the Legacy Edition.

I appreciate UC and that I am allowed to make my thoughts known.

I think you mean Omar - he is the producer of this campaign. Kevin is the artist. As for why, he has answered this. Omar's vision is this is a 6-deck set, luxury box included. The Prism edition is limited. If it was sold separate from the box, it is likely not all box buyers could complete the set. As to why Prism is limited, it is meant by design to be a scarce collectable.

Not everyone may agree, but the reasoning has been explained. Im on record as not really wanting the box as well, but I understand that it is the price of entry for the Prism.

Here’s the predicament i face. Let’s say I opened up a tier where you could get the prism (limited to 400) at $110 (for arguments sake). All I need to do is sell a single 1 in this tier to make a huge problem. Because if someone comes along willing to spend $450 on the sarcophagus and now can’t get the prism then what do I do? Make less sarcophagus? Well what bout all the money we spent on r&D? Can’t protect that investment? Well then print more prisms? The insinuation made by some in this thread ls that I would sell hundreds. Well then I think there would be a massive devaluation of the prism deck. What makes it worth $110 (or so) is that combination of factors (scarcity being among them). Again I present the example of last campaign… where the prism tier was over $425 and the prism deck now fetches just about the cost of the whole tier. Why? Because of the extremely limited number.

Can't really compare to the previous campaign though. The prism tier had mostly decks, and no uber-costly box, this tier has a super costly box that you spent money developing and getting made.

Secondly you keep saying the tempest prism deck sells for as much as the tempest prism tier cost, but I'd argue that's because it's a lotrek deck, not because it's a prism deck (no offense intended). Lotrek decks have been selling for obscene amounts of money for a long time. I honestly don't know the answer to this, but have any Kevin Cantrell decks sold for over $500 like lotrek decks frequently do? You're comparing apples to oranges here. This isn't intended to get you to change you mind, but I feel like the whole sarcophagus tier and idea is based on a false premise.

Also, if you make less sarcophagus tiers, wouldn't that just make them more desirable for collectors? That's what you keep saying...

Clearly there is a lot more interest (at least in the forums here) to make a 6 deck set without a sarcophagus than with. I don't see anyone saying man I can't wait to get my hands on that sarcophagus.
This comment has been mod-approved since you are able to see it.

Looking to buy (DM me if selling please!):
-Limbo v1 decks
-2017 NPCCD Bronze, Silver, Emerald

Since this campaign will be using Backerkit, I will surely stick to my plan of: go for the first four editions and getting the Dynastinae later in Backerkit. IF I am really loose, then perhaps five decks in one go should be possible and no worry about Dynastinae will go out after the campaign. I would go for the former, since remembering that Dynastinae Tempest is still there after the Tempest campaign, and hoping the same situation happened with this one.

That’s fair. Although I didn’t bring up the tempest comparison to begin with. Perhaps a better comparison is art of play’s standards. All 500 units of their box set (inferior even by the artist himself as assessment) were sold out. I’m confident the sarcophagus has its fans and will sell out. They are less vocal. Because to the persons buying the sarcophagus there’s nothing to debate.

I feel like all these complaints come down to: "You are making me buy something I don't want to get something I REALLY want" and then they attach various motivations to TGW for doing so. It is a testament to how attractive the Prism deck is to people.
"I have no response to that."

If you offered 400 single Prism decks, I do not think you would have any problems selling out the 400 Sarcophagus. I could be wrong on that though. I totally get this is probably frustrating that this comes up but look at it this way, we love your decks and want to get them all. This is probably better than people coming on here and saying "the Sacrophagus should be sealed up with the decks in them, hard pass!"

Since nobody is saying it, I will. I’m really looking forward to getting the sarcophagus! :P I do understand what everyone is saying though, if it was some other item I didn’t want that I had to get I would be a little sad. I’m just glad I do want the sarcophagus! That said I do also think that UC isn’t very representative of the overall card collecting community. Most people on here lean the same way when it comes to issues of rarity and exclusive items, that I don’t think reflects the overall card collecting community. I think there is a lot of demand for the sarcophagus.

Man, I can't wait to get my hands on that sarcophagus!
I've spent way more than I care to admit on playing cards, but I'll still buy just about anything that Lorenzo, Jackson, or Gio make.

I think the “could be wrong” is the operative bit here - as it is easier for us to debate the options than it is for TGW, as they are the ones with the success of the campaign on their shoulders.

I know people want the Prism deck, and wish it wasn’t just in the box set - and perhaps we would have different ideas on how things might be structured and still work - but I imagine that would be a lot harder to decide if we were on the other side of the equation, and that we would be the ones having to suffer the consequences of going the wrong way with it.

Back seat driving is always easier, but in this case we are technically not even in the car - accidents do not effect us.

The sarcophagus was obviously not an afterthought to this campaign, nor is it wooden box with an silver emblem attached - having one deck only available inside it is understandable for a variety of reasons - and if it were our campaign I don’t think any of us would have an easy time laying it out, or any surety that we made the right choice in advance. I dare say that most of us would have left the idea of such grandeur on the design table as a project too large and risky to take on.

I do not desire to squelch debate - as such debate is healthy, and useful feedback for TGW to help them consider their options before the campaign launches - just wanted to add my two cents to it.

BeetleBacks will be a simpler more straightforward campaign. I need a break from the stress.

Stress is a killer - we should all seek to limit our own, and the amount we create for others.

On top of the fact that today is the first day since Tuesday that I feel like I’m improving. Been sick with a bad cold. Fever dreams only focused on the campaign being a failure.

I’m sorry, but the term “Fever Dreams” is now owned by Fontaine - now you need to send them a dollar :)
