Most don't even know that Aristocrat and Bee are the exact same paper stock and finish the only difference is the embossing pressure so it makes little difference. I also had never made a deck with Aristocrat stock before and wanted to try it out as the Feds are all Bee.
Seriously, Jackson? So the requirement to have 5000 decks and pay an extra $0.08 per deck is simply to apply a different amount of pressure to the "crusher" or dimpler, whatever it's called? Darn, that's certainly not what they lead you to believe. I'm absolutely certain that you know, but that's not what we've been told. "It's a different stock" supposedly, just like the old / obsolete UV-500 "ultraviolet" / black light active paper stock - so we all thought.

Go figure...

Well, you know how it is..... You find something new, then get excited and you realize you're a million miles behind everybody else so you spend a small fortune just to get a little bit closer so you can join the conversation and not sound like a complete dildo. Then you realize that there is shelter and food that needs to be paid for.....

That's how I started out in the past with other hobbies so this time I've been trying complete self-control. Although it's not easy when things like JR's Independence and Uusi's Hotcakes show up. If I heard that someone was spending over $100 on playing cards I'd tell them to seek professional help. :ugking:

And now look what happens..... Just spend around $150 on each of those series mentioned earlier. :ugdance:

Depressing. I paid $40 each for my Gold Certificate and Federal 52 decks and would have paid $45-$50 for the Holmes LE, but over $100? I'm kicking myself for not borrowing the money last Saturday. It was mid pay weeks and a friend offered to loan it to me but I just hate borrowing. I should have swallowed my foolish pride. Here's to hoping some of these end up at playingcardsdotnet or richiescards for more reasonable prices.

How did the wooden case arrived? I know Jackson took a lot of extra pre-caution to ensure that the box is least likely to be damaged at all.
Perfect. The packaging was fit for a Faberge egg. And the decks fit snug as a bug. I'm sure whoever snagged it off the King's Wild site will be very happy.

Ok, I got to say this: the eBay pricing for the LE Baker Street decks is stupid money. Somebody paid $140 for a deck. An auction ending soon over at over $100? This is not the LE Federal 52 Part 2 deck with the unique black backs. These cards are exactly the same as the standard deck. The only difference is the tuck, and it's not really better than the standard deck -- just different. This is a deck where there is No reason to actually open the tuck.

If you missed out just wait for Jackson's next project, get whatever LE deck is released at KS price and trade with somebody who's got an extra Baker Street LE deck.

I often watch eBay auctions for popular decks. It's interesting to see the trend in prices. I wonder if this LE will follow the same trend as the Unbranded Black Reserve Note... Seems to be going that way, even if it's just a tuck swap and not a different deck like the Unbranded Black Reserves.

I pledged the 6 deck wood box during the KickStarter and got it delivered this week. It IS beautiful.
If you subtract what 10 decks and coin cost NOW, I ended up getting it for -$5 :D maybe that's why Jackson is asking for more for the The Independence wood case?

Hand-made in Oregon by Sean Kerry of 'Bark up a Tree Woodworks.

I sort of cheated and glued in a Gold Certificate coin, as I'll probably end up putting all the Kings Wild LE decks in it. 8-)

 i am so regret that I didnt back up this project on Kickstarter, cuz i thought it is just a Sherlock comic deck, I didnt expect they will be that much fabulous ! good job, bro. you make me jealous. Now I am hoping he continue release that handmade displayed box on the other Kickstarter project, so that i can get it for a great price. lol

I too am massively regretting not backing this project on KS.
I am now in the position where i'm trying to obtain a full set.
Does anyone know of any shops or re sellers who are going to be offering these decks? I've found a couple on eBay playingcarddeals and playingcardsdotnet. They both list all the decks but don't clarify whether the Moriarty is v1 or v2. I have asked them both but had no reply. They also don't list the ltd edition Baker Street deck which I would really like, to make the set complete.

If anyone knows of any re-sellers or shops that will be offering the complete set, please feel free to PM me.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure the Moriarty is V1 because V2 hasn't been sent out yet. Aside from the Moriarty and LTD Bakerstreet, it's probably cheaper to buy directly from the king's wild website.

Thanks Sher.
Your probably right. It would be cheaper to pick up the decks ( - ltd ed Baker & moriarty v1) from kingswild. I'm just trying to get them all from the same place to save me a bit on shipping. Being an international collector from the UK I always try and buy from the same source. Even if the decks are a $ or 2 more it can still work out cheaper.

Thanks Maddest Hammer. I have been in contact with Paul. The way these seem to be going though, i'm just trying to have a few options. I don't want to miss out like I did on Saturday. I appreciate your advice.

I suppose I could drop $199.99 on the ltd ed Baker Street from eBay!!! Jesus. I thought we were all collectors here. I understand we all like decks to make money etc. Its what makes our collections what they are but to add such a mark up onto decks that haven't even been received by some people?

I realize this is just me being bitter but, I only want 1.... To collect. It does make me a bit mad that were all collectors, and we love saying what a great place the card collecting community is. Then we try and stitch each other up by buying rare decks in bulk (or at least a few more that we want for personal) to sell to our peers at an incredible markup.

@ Wilko

Speaking as one collector to another, I'd say your best bet to aim and hope to grab those decks that you want, but not to be too disappointed if you can't get them. I love collecting and it's a fun hobby, but it's not one that I want to negatively affect me. If I can grab something cool at a great price, good for me. If I can't and have to pay more for it, than it's up to me to decide is it worth it.

I, too, came into the playing card collecting world late (started early last year/last 2012) and there's been a few deck that I had to pay quite a bit to pick up and there are still a few decks I want, but refuse to pay that crazy aftermarket price for them. I can't fault resellers for charging them they do. Some use it to fund their collectors and they have their own risk. For every one of those guys that got a brick of original Federal 52 or Uusi (original) Blood Blue there are also those that are sitting with bricks of decks that no one wants.

As for the Moriarty decks available from Gambler's Warehouse, they should be the V1. I can't speak with 100% certainty, but I can't imagine it being the V2 yet as they are in the USPCC cue to be printed unless they've got a time machine ... if that that's the case, I want that time machine instead.

I do get frustrated sometimes at the incredibly high prices LTD decks go for in the after market, but then i think, "Hey, if that person manages to sell it at that price, good for him/her." Card collecting can get expensive, so it's pretty smart to buy LTD decks and sell them later to make a profit in order to offset the amount spent on cards... Although, I admit, it may not be seen favorably.

I'm not going to attribute the quote, but: "A deck of cards is worth whatever someone will pay you for it", and that's a fact. Doesn't matter how rare, what serial number, which artist, could be a bunch of things or simply that the serial number is the year the person was born. I've gotten a lot of odd requests, and nothing surprises me any more.

Considering that Shane contributed a card to JR's Sherlock deck, this looks to me to be very bad form.

Which at this point does not surprise me one bit.

I would think that as long as they stick to the pre 19?? that is in public domain they are fine. JR Has the exclusive right to be an authorized deck by the Doyle estate, so this will not be an authorized deck, might be a neat marketing to tag it as unauthorized.

On a positive note, who's got the lowest serial numbers?
I'll start, but my numbers aren't very low:

Limited: 102
Bakerstreet: 260
Holmes: 322
Moriarty: 834
Hound: 224

In general, I think that the rewards that ship earliest get the lowest numbers, as a general rule.
