Yep, that is an attractive bundled price. I have enough EotO stuff though...seriously.

Definitely the most original and creative one when it comes to design. But it's not hard to beat the competition. Most creators that where at the forefront some years ago are either stagnant af, obsessed with features instead of pushing their design or simply disappeared.
If no surprise arises, Eye of the Ocean 2 will win the next deck of the year as well. Maybe Lotrék will beat him in 2027 when he fulfills his first year's oatreon rewards or in 2032 when Codex fulfills...

I think you are absolutely right that there is a lot of creators who are stagnant or are obsessed with things that the broader market doesn't care for. EOTO 2 should be amazing.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 10:16 am Definitely the most original and creative one when it comes to design. But it's not hard to beat the competition. One can only hope Lotrek fulfills eventually.

AUCTION: The Eye of the Ocean trio prototypes (ends 5/18/2023)
These three decks, Solis, Lunæ, and Astra Polaris, are part of a group of a dozen prototypes created for the photoshoot of the Kickstarter campaign. The tuckboxes of Solis and Lunæ were made by Lotrek, and although the graphics match the final version, the print does not. These prototypes were laser-printed, resulting in stronger colors and a shine that the final version was not supposed to have. The tuckbox of Astra Polaris matches the final version.
The cards of all three decks were printed by MPC and do not feature cold-foil application. They are wrapped in cellophane. All decks have the XVII golden sigil and can be signed upon request on the front, back, or side as per the buyer's preference

Re: The Eye Of The Ocean - Stockholm 17
I am a relative newb and it will take me a few years to have a knowledge base anything like you guys and gals. At 68yo - time may not be on my side but it is so satisfying to ditch some other hobbies and concentrate on the thing/cards that always spoke to me. Being in Oz like Portcullis does not make things easy - the price we pay for slow shipping! I am already taking Harvonsgard's signature on board "I very much want this in my collection, but at long last... I have to stop the insanity."
Anyway back to the topic. I only purchased the Intrepid, liked its red and gold best, and noticed on opening what a strange new deck order and twigged it had to be to do with the map (one of the many reasons I purchased this deck - I love the Bicycle Escape map deck). I then confirmed it when I saw in the FAQ on the kickstarter page as to why there was no uncut sheet for Intrepid. I am guessing that the early patron release of the Ltd Intrepid must have been in a different NDO or after the puzzle/quest was closed before its release - anyone know?

Re: The Eye Of The Ocean - Stockholm 17
I'm not sure what you're asking in your last sentences, but the quest itself required lunae and solis, with intrepid having a separate layout. The cards come ordered randomly and the deck needs to be rearranged to create the map. It doesn't come in the way the actual map is ordered. If you laid both Solis and Lunae out and paid close attention, you could see why you needed both.
I'll toot my own horn here, but I was the 6th individual to solve the quest. I had just started collecting not too long before and bought all the items secondhand. I then found out only Kickstarter backers were eligible for the quest. I messaged Lorenzo and he reached out to the original backer, allowing him to forfeit his chance at the rewards, and allowed me to participate. He's such a class act and so helpful! It was so fun to go through the process and I can't wait for this next one. I'm so excited.

Re: The Eye Of The Ocean - Stockholm 17
As stated, I was talking about the Intrepid edn - the new deck order does come in map order (I will post a pic if you need it). I did not realize it has a different map to lunae and solis so thank you. I thought giving away the map was possibly the reason that no uncut sheet was made for Intrepid but reading the Kickstarter FAQ's again, I see giving away the map was the reason given for only showing the backs of the uncut sheets for lunae and solis. If that was the case you would think that they had to be shuffled after cutting so as not to be in order (like Intrepid) and produce the map. Maybe they were sorted into regular NDOkevork wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 1:46 am I'm not sure what you're asking in your last sentences, but the quest itself required lunae and solis, with intrepid having a separate layout. Do you remember whether the NDO for lunae and solis appeared unusual.

Re: The Eye Of The Ocean - Stockholm 17
I wish I can tell you about the NDO's for the EotO Intrepid, but to this day, I still haven't got mine. The deck that I was "meant" to get is with my retailer, who seemed to now has diminished his reputation and integrity, had lost my deck. I shall curse him with a Kraken's curse should itd be lost forever
And regarding of NDO's of Solis and Lunae, yes they appeared unusual. You have to assemble it yourself - won't be revealing the solution to it
Toot: I am the 13th person to finish the quest

I don't recall the order, but Solis and Lunae were definitely not in map order. It would've been too easy.

Yes hes talked about that a lot, it was supposed to have gone up in the fall but didnt because of the Cartamundi move, it should be a kickstarter early in the year.

I'm happy that Lorenzo is one of the creators that does use other printers as well. Dunno why he still keeps sticking to Cartamundi with his main projects
. Keeps his decks from reaching perfection imho.

I really don’t mind the long wait - delay can also means that Lorenzo gets to prep the campaign even better.

Re: The Eye Of The Ocean - Stockholm 17
You've mentioned many times that you have a wealth of experience in the printing industry, so I'm curious what you consider tops at the moment. As far as I'm concerned, Cartamundi is still king, owning less to their strengths and mostly to the shortcomings of the other major players.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 6:20 am I'm happy that Lorenzo is one of the creators that does use other printers as well. Re: The Eye Of The Ocean - Stockholm 17
Nobody really is king in regards to product quality imho. Everyone has its flaws. From a market perspective Cartamundi obviously is king because they own Fournier and USPCC. But their C9 finished decks had big longevity issues and are gone anyways and B9 finished decks have a bad surface. Dunno how people can look at those canyons and say this is the best we have in the industry but I guess tastes differ. This is the main reason I see everyone in front of them because looks is what we are mostly here for, aren't we? In regards to handling, I'd still consider them way too soft. For me personally WJPC is the most balanced in all regards. USPCC is handlingwise still on top but I guess if there is THE one thing we all can agree on, it is that their borders are the worst, haha. And of course some dislike the rough edges of USPCC decks.

Harvonsgard, do you think if Cartamundi used Fournier stock - we could be on a good thing?

I doubt they move to Spain for that but it certainly has something to do with the Fournier plant. Last time I spoke with Jirs (which was ages ago though) it didn't sound like they want to move away from B9. Why should they anyways? I'm not as active across all platforms anymore but when I was, I sensed that a lot of folks hold B9 slimline in high regards.
