Almost hit the "Buy Now" button a few times, just can't justify the price tag of $250. They really look great and I think he did a fantastic job with them, but the price is just...ugh.
As far as a display box, top notch and awesome! BUT...as a collector, I buy for interest and for investment. I don't buy decks that I don't like the looks of. And I'm very cautious about buying things for my collection that I couldn't turn around and at least make up my initial investment with. This is a great example.
Torn. I love it, just can't pull myself to do it. Same with the acrylic display cases. Price is just too inflated for me.
Yep, I have to agree. Donna finally pulled the trigger on the 2-deck swivel 'tray' from Uusi for us back during the Pagan campaign, and I'm going to use it to display their two gilded decks for a while and then (hint, hint, hint!) swap one or the other out with something I've been teasing VERY hard in another thread that has something to do with "Something Wicked"... I'm feeling this one is going to sting a few people and make the rest of us smile quite broadly! I have a feeling about that first hint close enough to being both light and dark at the same time still fits about as well as anything else I pulled everybody's chain with there. Could be hiding an oil well or a gusher over here - you never know, I'm just a sly old fox.
As I recall (and I didn't bother to pop the KS campaign up and verify) it was $135 with one of each light and dark Pagan decks during that campaign, but goes for $250 on their website at uusi.us - which is quite a difference! I'd LOVE to go $250 for the "Friends and Family" brick box, but it hasn't been offered here in the past couple of campaigns and I think Linnea has given us enough hints to figure out that it's not likely to be even in "deck #6" whatever that turns out to be as far as the theme. Unfortunately unless you got yours during the first two decks, you missed those - which is a real shame! The other side of that one is that it has to be a big pull on Peter's stash of that ancient old heartwood redwood - it's just some amazing stuff! That being said, I'd still love to have one, no question about it, I just can't justify the cost unless they offer it for $250 during "deck #6" campaign and everything they have said leads me to believe that just isn't going to happen. Peter has busted his hump for us all for so long I'm surprised he hasn't grown redwood roots at this point...
My wife loves things that make a stylish and classy display at the house, but I always think "that could buy quite a few decks" myself. Now that she's started actively chasing down things on eBay for me and adding items to my watch list, we're both tending to look early and look often. Actually she found the double canasta deck (early 50's) that were sealed and I showed them off in the "Look What I Added..." thread.
OK, we've wandered all over the place - let's get back to the discussion about Jackson's "Sherlock Holmes" campaign...
