Re: "SILK" by OathPlayingCards
My blue silk de ls just arrived, so those in the US should be getting them any day, if not already. Thanks Lotrek.
I am not sure which version I prefer. I like them both!

I am still waiting for the blue decks to arrive (they are a couple of days out) but based on the photos, I think I would like the red one better. I really like the black and gold tuck.TwoPiece wrote:The red is better.

Re: "SILK" by OathPlayingCards
Just had a quick feel of both decks, the handling is nice with this set and the blue one seems to handle even better of the two. One feedback though is the tongue flap that's so hard to open, literally had to use a letter opener to pry it open between the little gaps from the side in order not to bend the tuck.

Received the blue deck today. Was with my five year old son when I opened the deck. We were both picking our jaws from the floor. Note that he's in kindergarten, no formal education about art, not much experience with playing cards, but he knew these were special.

You used a letter opener on a Lotrek deck!?!? Seriously though, the tuck was particularly tight on this and I had similar issues. I found tapping the top and bottom of the tuck loosened the cards inside enough to open the tongue flap. Also, putting the cards back inside without snagging on the interior flaps was tricky. I taught myself a new method of putting the front and back cards in at the depth they needed first and then sliding the rest of the cards in between them.

Re: "SILK" by OathPlayingCards
Yep, the deck is packed very tight and that is one of the reason the flap is so difficult to open. As for your method of opening the deck, after nearly bending a couple of decks, that is how I open most of my decks. I have a very thin and narrow blade and it makes opening flaps much easier.Decknowledgy wrote:Just had a quick feel of both decks, the handling is nice with this set and the blue one seems to handle even better of the two. Opening both of my DeNovo decks were worse than opening the blue Silk deck, I got them on the same day.

Re: "SILK" by OathPlayingCards
I was away with very bad internet connection so I didn't login here. I'm very happy you're very happy with both editions!
1) Regarding the different back and tuck for the Blue Silk: It's not because some people complained about the two colors of Damask. These complaints were justified because I had said that the Damask would be the only edition and I didn't resist the temptation to do it in blue. With Silk I could simply had said that I will do two colors and everything would be fine.
I just had done two completely different versions of the back and I could not decide. I liked them both! So I decided to do them both.
2) Regarding the top flap: The deck is not tight in the tuck however the flap's tongue is a bit wide in order to remain tightly closed without those cuts that the tuck case flaps usually have and pop up like owl ears.

Re: "SILK" by OathPlayingCards
On the topic of Red vs Blue Silk: I only own the blue deck but what I have seen in pictures, the Blue tuck just looks so much better. I also think the back design looks way better in the blue version.
I normally always prefer the color red over blue, but this one is the exception.
Also: holy shit this is a gorgeous deck.

Received the blue today, it's quite beautiful, I knew it was going to be my favourite of the two before I even saw the previews lol. If I wasn't seeing it with my own eyes I'd think foiling like this would be impossible. Here's my contribution to the attempts at photographing this deck:

I hate y'all, I hate y'all, I hate y'all, I hate y'all, I hate y'all, I hate y'all, I hate y'all in here!
You pushed me too far with all of your pictures! I just have to see it with my own eyes - I just placed an order on a $80 deck of cards...
My first Lotrek and when he finished his Bosch deck, definetly not my last one.
... next order - a pair of white cotton gloves.

I may have to get the blue deck, because the contrast in color is just better. Red has the better design, though

I'm a bit biased because when it comes to standard back designs I always choose blue over red.TwoPiece wrote:I may have to get the blue deck, because the contrast in color is just better. Red has the better design, though

For the Silk deck; I really like the design with the birds better + the added colour on the tuck + the contrast you mentioned = 3-0 clear advantage blue variant.
TL;DR: Yah, you have to get the Blue Silk

Short of topic: Cool review on the 6006, I liked that you weren't afraid to leave your comfort zone of decks and even had something nice to say about these kind of decks.
