Have you tried playing with such highly customized Hanafuda or Hwatu cards? Can't be easy. At least for the poker cards, you usually go with the indices when playing, but these don't have that.

I can handle playing with most of them pretty easily - a few get crazy enough so I need the cheat sheet next to me
That last hwatu set is actually pretty standard in the content, and has the month names on the cards, so thats especially easy to play.
I think Night Parade Fusion is one of the toughest - even with the markings for assistance…. Worth the trouble though - nice to mix things up…

How did you get the Snoopy Museum deck? I can't anything less than $50 on ebay and that's not counting shipping.
One’s available now:

Just scored from Japan - been looking for this one since I first found Tengudo…. They had it up on the english version of their site and I had foolish dreams it might be in stock - back then all inquiries went unanswered and I planned to stow away on a ship one day so I might visit in person and perhaps stumble upon one.

Less shiny, and less square footage, and less in japan than off ebay in the US - I spotted it on ebay and just knew it would be on zenmarket for a pittance in comparison…. when its a seller from Japan its almost always the case.
They make a few variety of the keychains - this is the nicest of the plastic cased sets - still on the lookout for a metal case - perhaps I only dreamed they existed…
Can’t remember when these were made - I figure 70s for this type of thing

A lot of decks waiting to get posted, hopefully shortly I’ll manage to make some way through the backlog - looks like a quiet few weeks coming up at work…

Another bunch on the way from Japan - some One Piece dice and one heck of an old deck
Will get on the photo job when they arrive and start piling through the backlog - the train is about to get moving again and we have a lot of stops to make.

Another example of ebay sellers listing things that are on zenmarket with the standard predatory markup:

That particular deck from Matsui is from his second quality line - so the Matsui Tengudo name is not the only thing to pay attention to when buying his decks. Most of his are in wood boxes with some very nice rare exceptions.
I always hit this page first to see whats up with a deck I don’t recognize:

I think this deck can benefit from some gold ink highlights (would go where the grey texturing highlights go). Would it be possible for you to upload the original pictures somewhere where I can print a deck and experiment with painting over it? I would imagine choosing the right cardstock for the ink matters a lot.

The last deck done at MPC - this one could benefit from some gold ink or foil as the originals featured quite a bit.
It’s a playable deck, though a few of the tens take a close eye to discern.
This one was done with a thin border - I have a different deck ready to print with a thick border next which allows for some easier alignment and more even looking borders for varying aspect ratios.

Welcome aboard
I zipped up the images for all four decks as a set - hanafudaReprintSet01.zip - the one you are looking for is kaikinki-hanafuda19 I believe.

stock and finish will make a difference - I would have a chat with MPC (makeplayingcards.com) to see what they have for you

Cool site. Like how you organized the decks. Wish P52 had a subcollection feature similar to that.

I do too - only reason I made it was I was frustrated with the broken sort once you get past 1000 decks

I'm at 589, so no issues for me, although I have had my custom sort "reset" once or twice in the past.

I believe the Botan/Peony brand would also be a machine printed (e.g. not stenciled-colored) deck.

Thank you for the upload. I think the ones I was looking for was chihou cards.
One additional request (if it's convenient for you), would you mind sending the pictures without the red boarder, and square pictures (without the rounded corners)?
my plan:
- print off the cards on my own card stock with a custom boarder (but square, instead of rounded corners)
- I will draw with gold ink the highlights onto the print
- I will wrap it around the old traditional way with gold foiled paper and glue
All the traditional wraparound cards are square corners thats why i made the request.
Once I'm done with the process maybe I can upload some pictures here to show
Thank you

I don't have the right paper or glue or brush yet but I did a trial run on painting them gold. Also hand wrapped 3 of them for practice.
I am confident that I can replicate the original hand wrapping technique to recreate the hand rail. Next step is to wait for the right paper and glues to arrive and learn stencil dyeing

Thanks for the information, I got the right papers from Japan and currently are being shipped over.
I think what you described was the older technique that Oishi used to make hanafuda. The Matsui cards are all made with stencil dyeing technique which is slightly different from the wood block printing.

They did the wood block for the black outlines, then stencils for the colors, then a block again for the silver/gold from what I’ve seen.
