I really like the toned down borderless idea. Please use it for the limited deck.

Thanks! I'll also like to explain why I want to design and produce this classic back.

1. Printing two colorful back designs (one with borders and another borderless) makes no sense for me. It should be one or another.
2. I like the full bleed dark background on face cards.
3. At the same time, I want to produce a deck with borders. And I have already found how. My courts with the white background look fine except Spades. I'll update Spades colors for a deck with borders, and we are good to go.
4. New back helped me to find some color balance issues.
5. There are some exciting opportunities to upgrade standard backs with borders (STD). Both LTD and STD will probably share the same foil pattern.

I like the most current renders, right above this post. Looks great, exactly what I would have chosen from everything you've shown.

Your art is good enough to distract me from the foil.

Also, my powers of observation are not so hot at 6 am. :ugthink:

But seriously, this is amazing. A few months ago we thought there would be no UC '19 deck.

p.s. It's still a sketch/proof of concept.

I feel this is the best one so far

I'm for the left side. Looking at the right side Jack it gets lost in the many backs IMO.

I vote for colorful borderless and classic bordered, for sure.

Thanks for your comments! Now I need to finish everything.

1. I'll delay sending prototypes!

2. Are you dreaming about other colors? Save any of the images posted on the previous page. Then open your image editing software and start changing HUE value  You don't need to have Photoshop to do it.
In FastStone viewer, it's "Adjust Colors" option: https://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

It's fun and works well for a classic back (one color). I like HUE 27 and 150

 Please don't post results here

Where is my Ace of Spades??? ooops... Ace of Diamonds here!

:ucstar: help me please! Should we use No.7 in the name or just 7. UC No.7? Any other ideas with "seven"? Yes/No? :ucstar:

Also, we can use another color for a Standard deck. I show this back with foil, but at this moment I don't know how to upgrade all decks :D Back design/Weapons/hands/pips color are in progress.
We can also produce one colorful borderless (LTD) with foil both sides AND upgrade STD by adding foil to the back. Lots of options, so now I need a quote from Cartamundi.

In general, I agree. Darker colors are fine if we use light color (or pure silver) foil for lines and inks for the background.

But If we print black on top of silver foil, it will not shine at all. For better results, colors should be lighter if we need big areas of one color foil.

Even for LTD green, I'll need to choose between two options: inks background + foil for lines or foil background + inks for lines.

I like the dark green and blue.
For the number, I support №7 too

Last for today proof of concept for LTD with holographic foil and some colors.

I'm gonna go melt some wrenches, nuts, bolts, and staples. Probably throw in some grass and leaves in the process. Should work.

I'm not sure if holofoil really adds to the design. There doesn't seem to be enough of it on the backs for the holofoil to actually standout, unlike Gio's Monolith where there's a solid, thickish frame to make it pop.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I would second this. The backdesign for me is already perfect. I would love to see this as an old school vibe deck without the foil. The holofoil on this design makes me feel like I'm looking at a Ford Model T with a flop effect paint job. Kind of contradicting for my asthetic.

That's why I am here  Back design is not perfect as it's in a sketch stage (2nd LTD + STD). If I finally create this 2nd LTD back, we'll have two Limited decks. I prefer to add colors for LTD and use one color only for STD. Limited edition decks are always experimental.

Sometimes small updates to a design change everything. I know how to improve LTD back and make it very classic, but still with colors — working on it now.

@montenzi, I really loved watching this whole process.

Since it's the 7th edition, and 7 is a special number in many cultures, do you think it's possible to do anything special with the 7s?

btw, Nº7 >>> any other alternative imo

I think the dark green borders (or borderless) is *so much* better than the bordered version of this latest round. And, I love what the foiling appears to add.

When I first come to this thread, the first page shows up and it is simply breathtaking how far we have come (in a good way) from the already great beginnings. They now pale by comparison to the current renders. Oh, my, oh, my. Can't wait to have these!

Thanks! There are 12 * 7s on the back already :D I really want to use 7 in the name!

Yes already. We need to get this Kickstarted quickly I think if we are going to get the decks delivered before Christmas (Western, not Eastern or Greek Orthodox Christmas - which is in January).

Let's say Kickstarter in August. Cartamundi will print decks in September-October. They print custom decks at least once per month. The artwork must be ready before Kickstarter. All files should be submitted and approved in advance. Cartamundi will print boxes. There is nothing to worry about. It's a plan.

p.s. ohh boxes! It's an easy task
