It really sucks to be stuck with an EB and no easy way out, specially for int. backer and the extra delivery cost. Could up one Underworld deck and have an extra Olympia to sell/giveaway, but this community prefers complete sets... so up two Underwolrd and assume a risk when trying to sell? Ugh.

Also, UPSCC printed means 2500+2500 decks, so plenty of those when the campaign ends.

I saw your comment and the answer, if you get a more elaborate one by DM, please share, Vitor.
Eoghann wrote:You'd think $35,000 could cover a second print run though. I mean if edgybros can do three decks with $32K...

Even Omnia is at $30K+ with three decks and most of the bells and whistles. noimsayin'?
Absolutely, but Omnia is EPCC, then again Edgy print with UPSCC, so no excuse. My guess? he was expecting the same success as with Muertos and got pressure from comments saying they pledged exclusively for Underworld. Not sure, but probably he wasn't happy lowering benefits (who would?).

Luna deck, of Fuego! campaign, was unlocked before getting to the stated amount, and everyone was able to split pledges... or add-on, as usual.

Not a good precedent for future campaigns, for sure.

I agree - this infuriates me.

I early bid in order to fund these unlocks. I would have less of a problem if it were across the board, but he's granting split cases to people who have bought bricks - why not to anyone who early pledged for more than one deck?

I hovered on cancel pledge, but I don't think he'd feel the slap in the face that I'm feeling from him.

Such “precedents” become precedents only if people let them that. Withdraw your pledges and you will be able to split everything you want next day. Keep your pledges and you will see the same disappointment in other threads next month.

Still tempted to withdraw my Golden Fleece pledge though. I see someone else already has.

Folks, the original goal is enough to do both decks, which is why I pledged for two - assuming - like with every single previous deck campaign that you could. If Steve doesn't change his mind on this point, I for one will be cancelling my pledge. I know he hit it put of the park with the last project, but he can't expect every deck to fund $100,000 - that's the rare exception, certainly not the rule.

Arguably $17,000 isn't enough for 5000 USPCC decks, but the after campaign sales should be adequate to cover it. Planning is everything for KS projects. He's nearlng $40k,and looks like it will by the end. That's plenty of money for 5000 decks with fulfillment. I know that I am simplifying and not even accounting for other items, but the basic pair of decks is well funded.

The precedence of not letting you split two decks but allowing it for bricks just doesn't seem right.

Yeah, thought of that but I don't seem to have the "practice what you preach" gene. You are right and that's what we should do.
However, I found a friend willing to have the second set, so ended up adding two Underworld.
Feel dirty nonetheless.

I cancelled - I might be back in at the end because we really are talking only a couple bucks here... and I do like.

But I feel good for now.

Wow, this spiraled out of hand quickly.

I should let you all know that in my correspondence with Paul Vasta, that I was willing to work with United Cardists to work out a compromise since you guys did help in the infancy. Of course it was too early to mention as I did not reach a conclusion to it yet. It seems that some has turned on me, which in fairness, is not without reason.

I will come up with a solution for my loyal backers and supporters.

I'm not sure to be honest, I might use it to buy a few vintage decks.

Sorry you're being forced to do what most projects have been doing since this whole funding thing started. Often with lower funding goals.

See what one well placed ( and timed) message can do?

Steve, I don't think anyone turned on you, they just felt they were ignored.

I hinted to what Steve just said (working with UC) in an earlier thread but as he mentioned, no details were ironed out and it felt premature to say anything. Glad he's willing to work with this community.

To play devil's advocate a bit: While working with the UC community is good, is it really that different from letting brick pledgers split and not the rest? It's still letting some (us) split but not others, so I don't really see the big difference there...

It could be so easy.

The fear of losing X dollars potential profit is causing a loss in Y dollars in potential profit by polarizing people to love/hate what he did.

Friends, this is Steve's second campaign. He is learning. He is working on this project in good faith. Other excellent playing card designers have also taken the occasional misstep and figured things out. Steve is listening, and he is working on figuring it out. Your proverbial mileage may vary, but I suspect that suggestions on how to proceed may find some traction here.

Just a thought.

Well then I suggest that you err on the side of extreme transparency and sensitivity to your backers.

My initial reaction? -> Awww man - seriously?
My reaction after hearing you were allowing some people to split? -> GRRRAAARRRRR!!

It would be one thing to give a bonus to people who purchase more decks. But many of us (I can't believe I'm the only one) increased our deck pledges specifically in order to help you achieve your unlock goal. I refuse to accept that my contribution is less "valuable" even though it's less money.

But I'll be one of the first back in the campaign if we get this ironed out in the right way.

My KS pledging approach is similar to what several people here have already mentioned.

If I feel that a deck is likely to barely make its goal and won't unlock any extras, then I'll usually just pledge for the one deck, unless I'm super in love with it.

If I feel that a deck is going to do well, and it looks likely to add one or two companion decks later as stretch goals, I will go ahead and pledge for 3 or 4 decks right off the bat. I do this knowing it will help unlock the stretch goals faster. In your case I pledged for 3.

I'm not going to add my complaints to those of others. I'm just going to reduce my original pledge to one deck, and probably add on only one of the new deck.

I'm sure you can see how this is irritating, and also probably not generating the extra income you might think that it would.

OK. Lay down the pitchforks and douse the fires.

We tend to use group think to the point of mod mentality sometimes. I just wrote Steve again explaining exactly what we're all thinking, and I feel certain that we will see a reversal of the add-on only statement before the day is done. We all learn by experience. We have all painted ourselves in the proverbial corner before, or at least most of us have.

Vasta41 broke the ice, I tossed in a couple of reality checks and Steve will respond. His first campaign went crazy, but expecting that to be the norm just isn't reasonable. Let's not scuttle the whole project, he came and showed us both variants long before the funding started. We might be feeling entitled justifiably, but we have to give him time to learn.

I disagree. We need pitchforks to poke him in the butt to DO SOMETHING.

I admit I reacted impulsively to the white knights defending and re-explaining every action in the Kickstarter comments.

Nothing we have said is so harsh. These are (as requested) "suggestions on how you can get more funding support", kind of what most comments are in these forums. Unfortunately, many felt this was a kick in the nuts when we were attempting to help reach the project goals by upping bids early so these comments are "OUCH, that sucks, don't do that".

However two days after cancelling my pledge, I feel ignored like my pledge didn't matter. Dare I say HE should be in contact with US, instead of the reverse with assurances that "something will happen". It's been days since he posted here with vague references to figuring something out, what kind of complex mathematics are we doing here? We've been kept in the dark.

You must not be keeping up. He posted yesterday afternoon after I contacted him the first time, and send me a note last night, that I answered very early this morning with a matter of fact statement that UC people felt like they helped get him where he is and felt marginalized, and that he had painted himself in a corner because every previous campaign has let people split their pledges *early or not.

Give him time to have a cup of coffee, read my missive and come by. As I recall he is a left coaster, which means it's not even 7am there yet, and my note hit bis mailbox around 6 my time, 3 his...

Latest update:

Hello Everyone,

After some careful consideration and listening to the response of my backers I have decided to allow for splitting of decks across the board at no extra cost. I feel that this would be beneficial for everyone involved but especially you, my loyal backers.

That being said, within the next few days, I will be also releasing an upgrade as thank you for being such awesome backer!

The clock is winding down so be sure to share this project with everyone you know!

Til Next Time!
