From the shots on the website, the Fathom deck (great name) is one of the first from the big companies in a very long time that shows some real originality and customization! Well done! I'll pick up a couple of those once the site settles down.

Having Daniel Madison on board is cool. While his "aura" of being the tortured soul might be a little forced at times he is very talented and I like watching him do his thing.

That's the big surprise? What a let down... This can wait until EOD for me today... There's higher priority decks I want to get before this...

Does anyone know if they have this "spend $50 and get a LTD deck for free" only during this pre-sale?
The new Fathom deck is not a limited release.
It will be ,surprise surprise, released on Black Friday (Nov 23rd)

In the past these specials have lasted a couple of days. 48 hours sounds about right.
The LTD is a nice deck one of my favorites

isnt DM always on board with E and T11? both Artifice trailer and Sultan trailer featured him so i dont think this is news per say. and god please no more players how do you even call that back a design.

Lol. But to be honest, I do kinda like the look of this new deck. Too bad ellusionist didn't plan for this event properly, even though they had ample time.

I agree - the deck looks very nice. Very inclined to wait until Black Friday when the bonuses may be higher and purchases will qualify for entries into their annual holiday contest!

But I thought they were using The Cloud that would prevent any of this....

My thoughts exactly! Plus, I believe this is just a pre-order for the deck.

i assume E doesnt need the money to start mass printing the decks. So when do i get my decks if i pre-order?

I think it's time to add a new batch of techies to deal with all these "crashes/bugs" in the "new" cloud system. Or at least do maintenance/upgrades before a sales event so you don't have angry/frustrated people sitting at a computer screen for hours on end. Sounds easy enough, but i'm not a comp whiz so I dunno.

This was just posted by Ellusionist: Thanks for your patience with our site issues. We're fixing the problems as we speak. If you're worried about missing anything, no worries: The new products are unlimited releases and the LTD special goes on for at least the next two days.

Having just done something similar on a (much) smaller scale, I can say that it is very hard to predict exactly what will happen when you have a large number of people hitting a site all at once. There are far too many variables to count. (My real-life job is web development, btw, so I've been around this stuff a lot). With that said, for the size of company and amount of dollars they have to work with, they should be able to afford some serious server horsepower. In most instances these days it's not so much the bandwidth that is the issue, but the ability of the servers to keep up with hundreds or thousands of simultaneous requests. (Google "wiki denial of service" to learn more)

With as many fans as they have, I'm sure their traffic was dramatic. In some ways they probably made it worse for themselves by being so vague with their teaser. I bet that if they had said "a new deck on Wednesday" they would have gotten a lot of people interested in a deck, but by being vague they probably got far more people in there that ultimately have no intention of buying anything.

The site is back up! It really looks nice. Much easier to navigate.

Their new deck is beautiful in my opinion. I'll definitely be ordering these.

There are also some new things in the accessories section! The wristband is awesome.

I'm wondering this as well, as Ellusionist has changed the wording before to suit their needs.
It says currently "Free deck of LTD with any SHIPPABLE order over $50"... since the Fathom deck isn't considered shippable, I could see them not including the deck with that order. Also even if your order is above $50 and it happens to include the Fathom deck, since that deck would hold up the entire order, I could also see them not including it for that scenario either...

Fathom decks are shippable items regardless of when they ship. Downloadable items are not considered shippable.

Are the Fathoms pre-release, or pre-order? I thought pre-release, which means they would be selling and shipping a certain number of decks before the full launch.

They are selling the Fathom decks for 48 hours and then they will release them fully on the 23rd. It is unclear whether it's is a pre-release or pre-order.

Under the navigation bars it has three news items:

It has been confirmed that this is a pre-release.

They're still down. I would like someone from Ellusionist to come here and explain why this keeps happening. And don't bullshit us about how interest and demand were a lot higher than expected and they didn't anticipate their site to crash. I think most of us here suspect E knew all along this was going to happen and they went forward anyway. In fact, I think they're using this as a ploy to generate traffic to their Facebook site......
