@chach - Did they ship the cards in a non-padded envelope only surrounded with taped on bubble wrap? If so, that seems like an open door for dented corners. U-line sells bubble bags for the deck and a cardboard box just big enough to hold the deck. That seems like the best way to ship a deck. Surround the deck with a bubble bag; No tapping involved and let the cardboard box take the hit not the deck.

No they came individually wrapped as in the pic and the three were packed nice and tight in a small flat rate box. I have shipped the same way and have no worries about damage in such a manner.

This is what I got today:

So nothing too crazy (bummer) but seems like some good ones. How can you tell V1 from V2 NOC's? Also I think the green crown deck is also V1...

If the Crown deck box is not embossed, it is V1.

I don't know how to tell NOC V1 and V2 apart.

Awesome thanks. It is not embossed.

The only difference on the NOC's I can see, is on the bottom, the Yellow says "Manufactured by The United States Playing Card Company, a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation (NYSE:JAH)." Then the KY address.

The orange one just says "Manufactured by the United States Playing Card Company." The address, and then houseofplayingcards.com

So there is a difference, but no date or anything else really. Obviously they are either V1 or V2 because they have a normal tuck.

If the black wraps around the bottom of the tuck (assuming it's a sealed deck) it's v2, if it does not it's v1. Easiest way to tell. Otherwise v1's have a little thicker borders.

Got my package today. Packaging was good but two of the decks inside had significant damage. I shot a nice unboxing video only to find I never hit the record button. I was too tired to rebox the decks and shoot again so here are the pics.

Of the three I only have a Vaudeville deck and that was opened.
Image

Two shots of the bottom of the vaudeville deck. Not sure if you can make out the large crease across the bottom. I tried to take a photo of the damage to the Boardwalk Papers deck but it wouldn't come out so you could see it. Basically the deck is bowed through the middle from top to bottom. It almost looks like something round and heavy sat on it for a good amount of time.

So I got my 6 deck package yesterday and here's what I got:

Expert at the Card Table, v2 (since it's solid green on back of tuck, not card back???)
Boardwalk Papers
NOC, Black
NOC, Blue v1 (since there is no black on the bottom of the tuck???)
NOC, Yellow v2
Crown Deck, Red

I did have a couple of these already too, but some were new and overall I'm happy with the deal.

As as side question for those of you that also took advantage of this deal, is anyone possibly interested in some straight across trades for things that they got that they already had or weren't really interested in?
I would be willing to trade the NOC Black, NOC Blue v1 and the Crown Deck Red and maybe the Boardwalk Papers decks that I got.

I'm specifically looking for a NOC Purple v2 and a Summer NOC Light Blue (might be interested in other stuff too)

Thanks,
Mark

In all honesty, I would have been disappointed with this offer. Mainly coz the interesting decks I already have and the others...well bleh.
And considering my luck, I never hold my breath for a rarity.

So going by what he said that "you will receive a value higher than the price paid during the promotion". What do you guys think? Was it worth it what you paid with what you received?

I've never bought anything from TBC so it would have been worth it if I got one. I'm not really interested in NOCs and Crowns though, so I would have been disappointed if I got those.

Thanks, guys. i'm happy now that i missed this. With the ~15$ (6decks) 25$ (12decks) int shipping cost and maybe customs the overall price wouldn't be that great. Glad i saved my money.

Yeah, I mean, it was a gamble. I like gambling, and in this case I at least got something out of it instead of walking home broke.

Obviously was hoping I'd get the Nugg's, but the cards I did got are alright. I've been using the boardwalk papers and they aren't too bad. I didn't have any of the decks I got so I am pretty happy.

Yes, I think so, being domestic absolutely. At around $5.25 - $6 a deck shipped it's definitely a win. Added in the fun of not knowing what random decks will be included. I enjoyed this quite a bit. Out of my 12 decks, I ended up receiving several decks I didn't have. Even got a deck I had really wanted and just never got around to picking up, and I don't mean Boardwalk Papers I have a brick of those. That's pure joy right haha, unwrapping the little packet of bubble wrap to reveal a deck I've always liked and never gotten my mittens on. :D The others that I did already have, more is never a bad thing imho. Every deck in my box is useful.

I didn't get any Jnuggs. I may be one of the only people here who doesn't want any. I think they're pretty tragic in red and horribly ugly in blue. Just me though.

As for the decks I got, I am satisfied. The fact that two of three were damaged leaves me more than a little disappointed. More frustrating is the fact that they were packaged well and the shipping box was pristine so the USPS wasn't to blame. Whoever put them in the box ignored the glaring and obvious damage.

EDIT: Looking a the pics Chach posted, it looks like the Vaudeville deck he got has the same damage mine has. Sadly this makes me think this was offer was a way to unload some damaged stock and get something for them. Either that or whoever packed the boxes simply didn't care.

None of the twelve decks I received were damaged, including the Vaudeville deck. I did get an Orange Noc that had a slightly off color tuck, which was kind of strange, but maybe it had a window view or something haha who knows. From the photo it looks like the bubble wrap was a little too tight. I don't think it would have damaged your cards, but I guess it's possible to have gone beyond the tuck, maybe. Have you opened the deck and investigated?

Amusingly, this kind of "sale" is illegal in many jurisdictions. Essentially it's a lottery. Notice that they are showing pictures of and advertise a Jerry's Nugget, however there is no way for anyone to know if there actually was a JN in the packages. Under lottery rules in the US, they would be subject to all sorts of scrutiny and also have to provide an audit of how they randomized things and show that the prizes were actually able to be won. You also need to be able to "win" a prize without a purchase. It's likely that if someone reported this to the HOPC or TBC state AG it would be a problem for them (I'm not going to bother but someone else could).

Someone like Randy might want to advise Alex this sort of promotion isn't a good idea, especially as it's now being shown they are using this to get rid of "B" stock they couldn't otherwise sell. Oh, and they "guarantee" that you will get greater value in the packages than you pay. For those that received damaged decks or NOCs... do you really feel you got greater value?

DISCLAIMER: This is based on my knowledge of similar types of promotions being run in the past at Baseball Card shows and shops as well as M:TG tournaments and such promotions were eventually pulled and fines charged to the promoters... all in the states of CA and NV but my understanding is most if not all states have similar rules covering lotteries and prize draws. Here is a good link to the relevant CA state law: http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/lega ... /u-2.shtml

Yeah - I contact the Attorney General in California about Ellusionist's shenanigans with their contest last year. Even referenced laws and legal stuff and provided some evidence stuff. Turns out they ain't doin' jack.
(Letter basically said they would hold on to the complaint and if there was a pattern they may get around to consider maybe someday giving it a lookie-loo.)

What it looks like is something heavy sat on it just above the edge. It's definitely not the bubble wrap. I haven't opened them as it is my only unopened Vaudeville and wanted it for my collection.

@Volantangel... I thought about sending an e-mail but felt a little ungrateful considering the price.

Ok so my stash finally arrived ! I ordered 2 6-packs hence some duplicates.

2x broadwalk papers
2x green crown v1
1x red crown v2
1x yellow NOC
1x Blue Verve
1x Brazil deck
1x Bee Green Acorns (does anyone know if the 4 leafed ones are v1 or v2?)
1x lefty deck
1x 2012 Olympic deck silver
1x scarlet rounders

Not too bad a haul given the scarlet rounders, anyone wants to pick it up for a cheapish price?

The somewhat subtle one-way back is useful to magicians - CARC's main target group. It also helped distinguish V1 and V2 decks. CARC had a problem early on in that the cambric and ivory finish decks were undetectable from the outside as the tuck boxes had no distinguishing marks. This was corrected with later decks as they added the ivory and cambric text on the top of the box. Originally, they were putting stickers on the loose ivory decks to differentiate them. If you purchased a brick, the brick box was marked letting you know what was inside. You were in trouble if you mixed them up.
