What happened to Kickstarter decks this month so far? They all need serious help.

Better, but maybe in the middle make it seamless so the division between the two is not so obvious? Let me know if that makes sense.
EDIT: Congrats on hitting your goal!

There is absolutely no reason to have the words Pirate Carrds or Don Maitz's name on the bottom of every card, that's major overkill. If Don Maitz wants to have his name on every card, then fine, your artist so get creative with it. I'm going to pass on this one until we have a back design and until the words are removed from the faces.
Also if you have the money Nick, that's great, but we don't know that to be true. It's not like we haven't heard that before.

Superb artwork. Would having the copyright on just the tuck and either a gaff or the Ace of Spades not be sufficient protection? It really detracts from the deck. I quite like the quotes but also do not like having to re-arrange cards when playing due to no lower pip.
On a side note, I passed on this on kickstarter because all I saw was the tuck and did not explore further. Regardless, you have achieved your goal, so congratulations and if you have fulfilled three prior projects must know what is involved by now in terms of costs and funding. Really lovely artwork.

A lot of the artwork is portraits of real people... and they will be posting their card on facebook, etc... so the artist wants that info (copyright, pirate carrds) on the front with the images. Each card is basically a stand alone, but also part of the deck. I understand all points of view. We do like how the design is right now and think it satisfy's most parties. If you noticed, we did change the layout. The dual sided back is still on the drawing board, we would love some opinions. This is just low resolution and the texture isn't mirrored, but any thoughts on this concept? Thanks, we are doing our best and appreciate your advice.

Couldn't you just have pictures of the cards with the copyright text? This would not only facilitate people's need to post their card on various sites (giving them a picture without them having to take one themselves) but also relinquish the need for the copyright on the actual cards.
It seems very strange to me, this is the first deck I've ever seen where the artist wants to put some ugly text on every piece of his work. If virtually all other decks have had zero problems with copyright without having "copyright" on every card, why would this one be any different?
PS. I should note that I'm not a backer so I have no stake in the matter either way.

Your artist friend doesn't understand copyright law. As long as that text is there I will not back or buy. It's ridiculous.

Hahah if I wanted to really copy the artwork from the cards, I can do it even with Microsoft paint.. It's just like how I refuse to put a watermark on my photos, what's more a commercial product..

So give those people their images and they can post them wherever they want and remove that stuff from the faces of the cards, easy enough I think.

@Nickace9 - That's fine. You can use that image if you want too. Well, looky there you have a functional deck of cards with good indices and all. Post that back on your Kickstarter quick and you might see a spike. Just know that your fan is going to look like this 13 times over. Which is pretty boring. Thanks for compromising on some issues. Your artist might be the next Shane Tyree. He does like pirates...

I designed hundreds of Captain Morgan labels and packaging in a span of several years. I remember many meetings at Seagrams when people would just stop talking to admire Don’s artwork. He was truly admired by everybody involved in the design and the production of branding and packaging for Captain Morgan.
