yes, must be marked as merchandise and put the value of the deck itself... I mean... let´s say the average price of a deck of playing cards at the wall mart? lol $4?

VERY nice deck art!

I hope to win one at 15th, but since I have no luck at contests and promos I buy one just now.
To good not to have... in my very little and very recent card collection.

Oh you'll have sex alright, just not the kind you want.

*edit* Ah, I see Chach beat me to the punch already.

I have to say, Lorenzo, if this is something you just whipped up quickly, I can't wait to see the finished version (hopefully soon). I agree with others and hope you don't have to tweak it too much because its pretty awesome as it is now.

True. The way I understand it, it's ok to mark as gift for a reward on a crowdfunding platform, because technically, they are gift, and not purchase. But a direct sale like that, you can't. But I'm not a lawyer.
Like Lorenzo noted, for CrowdFunded items, you can list the market value, average say $4-$5 per deck, but for retail sales, they have to say that (not 'gift' because they in no way are) and amount paid at retail - as I noted, without shipping - although I have heard of one country that does charge duty on the shipping fee.

I never knew, but found out looking at this that there are still at least 14 countries in the world where it is illegal to ship playing card decks. Seriously, not 19th century here, 14+ years into the 21st century and Syria, Iran, Iraq and various others just don't allow you to play with cards, period. I'll have to go fix up my ToS to allow noone in those restricted companies (by the State Department) can join only to donate, no rewards can be shipped there. It's also 18 or over to join and 21 where that is the legal age of majority. We can't have 13+ kids, although I think KS prohibits them without their parents from being able to run decks, at least. Not sure, it's got to be someone financially responsible and yes, I understand kids get married at 17 or even 16 sometimes - especially here in the south, but - we'll do it on a case-by-case basis, but it's not approved as a rule, it's an exception.

Yeah there's actually quite a lot of stuff like that, I was amazed when I sold off a bunch of watch parts on eBay a year or so back. Lots of countries did not allow you to ship them there, Italy was one such country, so we aren't just talking countries out in BFE. IIRC USPS has a section that lists all the restrictions.

Same here in Czech Republic. It really makes no sense for them to charge VAT on shipping. I've also been charged for items that weren't shipped to me but were part of a big order as I require to present the invoice so they charge based on the invoice value and they don't care what's in the package :(

Yeah I'm not picking these up. Much love to Lorenzo and his work, but a hiked up $25+shipping price per deck is ridonkulous to me. Yes, it's extremely limited, and the design is super pretty and cool, and I really really really want it... But I'll just wait for a cheaper, more economic version.

I think the court cards look a bit skinny, but that's my opinion.

Picked up both decks but really hoping I can get a second No. 17 either from Lorenzo's reserve or getting one for free from CL. Or maybe Mike will lift the 1 per rule a little later?

Depends, let's see how the sell, I'm thinking that 300 total just isn't enough to go around, but - you never know. If I let anyone have more than one, it will be UC members.

If the second version is suppose to be better then I'll probably wait on that instead.

He'll be putting another (v2) version together in January or thereabouts, after all the Heretic fulfillment is done, and it's looking like that will be mid- to late-September to even get going. The problem is that even when the decks are printed, it's a 3- to 4-week float using "ocean freight" just like we were all waiting on Paul Carpenter's Zenith. I'm sure we'll see a few early examples and Lorenzo will have a few air freighted into Stockholm, but it's being fulfilled from Michigan here in the states (by Lake Michigan Mailers for US 5-digit ZIP code land and IMS for everyone in Canada or overseas). I think I explained this already, but IMS has been doing all of the international consolidation and fulfillment outbound to Canada from Detroit (trucked to Windsor Ontrario and shipped using Canadian postage, return address, etc). Same thing happens in Britain with everything sent to London for distribution, etc. It works very well, and we're looking to put all foreign fulfillment there so we can leverage economies of scale make ALL overseas (and Canadian) shipping go down 15-20%

It will be clearly different, though - this is the only printing of the original CardLauncher "launch decks". Scarlet Pearl is being reimagined for potential crowd funding as well. It's going to go to a 72-card deck with 17 gaffs or something like that. That would take 1 1/3 sheets per deck no matter who prints it, Expert, USPCC or Apollo. If you want one of the first printing, these are all there every will be. I suppose you can argue that I 'created a rarity' here, but that was not the intent, the intent was to have 500 decks to give away to new backers on CL during the first 24 hours, and maybe first week. We'll see.

OK, everybody all at once: "who's Apollo Printing Card Company?". It's a division of Arlington Printing and Playing Card Co, LLC better known as Gambler's Warehouse, and they have both digital production (Kodachrome process somewhere like MPC's HP Indigo printer) for 300-850 deck projects as well as standard Heidelberg sheet-fed presses or 1000+ deck series. They have printed decks for years, but only recently got into the custom cards market. Their first deck is the Black Legacy by 4PM Designs. All things being equal, they offer everything MPC does, but it's "Made in America" for the same or better price with the same time between artwork submission and printed decks are ready, and could short-circuit the process into a 5- or 6-week from funded to delivered because GW's fulfillment people pick up stuff from that warehouse every day, and digital proofs are available in 8 to 10 business days. That means if things are 'right', by the time your money is available from PayPal, WePay or Amazon Payments (and we WILL do Amazon Payments, it just didn't make it in time for the "code lock" 30-day before opening freeze so I get everything perfected before launch, then we can make more mods to the code.

If somebody really wants an extra Deck Nr 17, maybe buy it and let me know? I'll refund the extra shipping, don't see any way around it because it keeps inventory for me and I can't play with it any more.

I love the art, I wish the court designs respected modern conventions of playing cards.

#1 I think the King of Spades should be looking to the right, instead of having his nose squished against the spade.

#2 Some games have one eyed cards as part of the game, and the design doesn't respect that.

#3 In a perfect world, the Jack of Hearts, Jack of Spades, King of Diamonds have one eye showing from their profile. And all the court cards a looking left except the King/Queen/Jack of Spades and the Jack of Clubs who are looking right.

Maybe these points might be considered for V2.

It's obviously killer artwork, but it's more art than killer cards with great artwork.

This is a decent primer: http://designshack.net/articles/layouts ... ing-cards/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
