Eheh so it seems everyone is suggesting me to go with EPCC. I will follow your advice. By the way, I'm also partecipating at this contest, and If I may win, EPCC will produce my deck.
If I lose, I'll try to crowdfund and produce it with EPCC anyways, but I want to win :)

So, if you want to help, vote for me (omg I feel a politician) > http://www.playingcardforum.com/playing ... !/new/#new" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Evil Deck

Hi there!

I'm still working on Evil Deck project, and I may had find a way to run the campaign on Kickstarter, I have a friend who is thinking to help me.
I also found a way to ship from USA, too.

We are planning what to do -first project for us both- but in the meantime I want ask you if you can help me with some forecast, so we can decide how much deck we can produce, the price, and of course if the Kickstarter campaign is the right thing to do. If I have to involve other people in the project, I would be a bit relaxed if I have some extra feedback.

In your opinion, how much deck I will sell with kickstarter? My idea is to print 1,000 Decks with EPCC, but I don't know If it's the right quantity.
Would someone of you back it? And do you have suggestion how much I should charge for a deck?

Any help is really appreciated!

Thank you very much!

Quantity is really up to you and how much of your product you want to be available to the mass market. Even if you don't necessarily sell all 1,000 during your campaign, you can always have them up on your website or eBay later. Generally, Kickstarter prices are lower than those that are re-sold later on. How much you charge depends on factors like what you think the product is worth, how exclusive it is, how much it cost to produce, how many neat features are on the tuck box, if you would like to receive any payment for your hours of work, and whether or not shipping is included. Some designers are considering going as low as eight dollars, but their decks will probably be much more widely available. For a quantity of only 1,000, your prices will be higher. Zenith and Tenebre had about 1,000 deck runs, and they were $20 and $18 dollars respectively. However, they also had very intricate tuck boxes and other exclusives. Most people aren't really interested in paying over $15 for a deck unless they feel it really captures their imagination and has never been done before. I'm just a consumer, so I can't be of more help (if I was any), but hopefully an actual designer will get on here and give you more advice.

Hey Guys! I'm not posting too much because actually I'm waiting the result of the DDDC, but I'm also working on some B plans :)
I am also really interested about CardLauncher, it could resolve many problems I have from Italy. Btw I'm going to print with EPCC and probably ship from Usa with a fullfilment center.
What do you think? I'm always hungry about your precious advices ;)

The Discourse contest didn't sound that great to me, doesn't the designer only get a fraction of the decks?

I think CardLauncher is a good way for you to go :)

Hi MagikFingerz, yes, you're right, I know I could earn much more with a campaign. But with the contest I may have 400+ decks printed by EPCC for free, it means I don't have any production cost. I don't have much experience in those project and it could be an "easy" way to produce a quality Evil Deck (It's my first concern at the moment) . It could be also a good advertising for me, I hope (I think it would also help me with the next deck I have in mind...and this one will be crowdfunded for sure ;) )

Anyways, I agree with you, CardLauncher seems really great, I'm pretty hyped about it.

Well, the only thing I can think of that might cause you problems is that all projects will fund in US$, and you'll have to be able to attach a US Bank Account to your project to run it, other than that I can't think of any problems. I need to update the thread, because I have alluded to this but not specifically states same.

Pending based on results of the DDDC over at the Discourse. If he wins, he relinquishes license to use the design, I believe.

Like almost all of the decks in the DDDC (Discourse Deck Design Contest) being run "over there", this deck's designer has come to me and asked if he can run his project's campaign on CL once the contest has been completed if they aren't the winner. Now, that being said the group of decks being used in that contest are already all designed to be printed by Expert PCC, so we can easily let them run on our system and in fact it's almost a foregone conclusion that at least two - if not three of them are going to try to get funded on CL. Would you rather risk them being barely funded on KS or CL? I think everyone will agree that if these decks are even close, it's a whole lot better for the backers community for them to be run on CL, again, simply because it means that the funds to do the production and fulfillment will be in escrow and pretty much all end up in our "Guaranteed Rewards Delivery" program. It's a win-win for the clients and the backers as well: if they get funded, they will get printed - and delivered!

Hi guys!

Yes, I am in the DDDC contest, the deck submissions ends the first of july, and you can vote between 1 and 15th july. Give me big support, okay? :)

What happens if I win? I discussed with the DDDC team, I will keep the license of my work, but EPCC will be allowed to print some Evil Decks on their own (that is not a big problem for me, I want fill the world with Evil Decks).
I will get 400+ Evil Decks I will sell directly from Evil Deck website. I will probably buy some others Evil Decks from EPCC if I have much preorders.

If I don't win, I my first option is CardLauncher (to be 100% sure I want see the website, but I am really interested in the project and at the moment seems the best way for me to go). I'm also evaluating Kickstarter, but as you know I'm in Italy and I have to work with someone in US or UK to do it, so, even if I have an US and UK friend who could help me, it's far more complicated. CardLauncher allow me to do this on my own, with the company and fullfilment center I would had used on KS anyways.

By the way Cardlauncher team is great (thank you Mike), I want to do something with them even if I win the contest. You guys have hyped me about playing cards and Evil Deck won't be the last one.

People asked me about prototypes: they may be on sale after the DDDC is closed (if I win) or be a part of the Crowdfunding campaign.

Cheers,

Giovanni

Giovannia, thewebsite is VERY raw - and "sandbox" mode (pre-alpha code) but available to look at now: Click here for pre-alpha version "peek"

I"ve posted it in "Something Wicked This Way Comes part 3" but you might not have seen it, since I only allowed people to look maybe two days ago, now. The alpha code should be online in a day (Friday) or early next week. Beta is supposed to be late next week or early the next week, and we hope to be 'live' in about 3-4 weeks, now - maybe less.

If you go there, there's a FAQ with "Known Issues" that you should read so you know what to expect and I try to keep that up-to-date, but I'm shooting at a moving target since they 'slipstream' code in and I don't even know it until I try something that I've done before and get different results. For example, I didn't even know that the partner selection was "already in there" until late yesterday afternoon when I tried to create another dummy project. It prompted me to select my production and fulfillment partners, for example. Give it a shot, you'll find that a lot of things still need work, and with "sandbox" quality code it's basically "white label" software with very few customizations, no branding (except the CL logo on the top left) and no partner logos, very few of the custom features I've asked for and none of the "Known Issues" fixed, as well - although like I said - that can change without me even knowing about it. We're having a videoconference today with myself, my wife (treasurer/banker) and Sher in Guam (partner & pre-launch 'captain' who guides people through the project setup and launch approval process). I'll know more then, and ask better questions this time. That actually happens almost exactly 3 hours from now (when I wrote the message)... A whole lot of things like the custom 'cart' type selection are NOT in there - yet, but of course they will be.

Looking great Giovanni! It's not exactly a review but it'll work great as a preview video when you decided to launch and while you're promoting it. I did notice the tuck seems to fit a little tight.

Hi guys, just want to say I won the DDDC!
So Evil Deck will be produced by EPCC and will be released as soon as we can.

I'm very happy and want to thank everyone voted or supported me!
