Are UPC or SKU of interest? Ace code seems like it might not apply to the majority of decks, and it isn't really something you'd want to filter by. It might be better to put in the description?

I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts.
Maybe a hidden-by-default "more details" section would be useful here?

It would also be nice to have sub-categories for features -- what if I want to view all smooth-finish decks, regardless of manufacturer?

As more and more time goes by with P52 frozen in carbonite, I think it's worth thinking about some bigger-picture ideas :ugthink:

Membership -- I think It would help a LOT to offer a "power user" level for somewhere along the lines of $1-2 month (even $10/yr?). I do NOT think any database-related features should be paywalled, but paying users could maybe have a "donor" icon? Ability to have more than one "personal collection" that they can name themselves and can be seen by all users? The optimist in me would like to think at least a few people would enjoy supporting the site once it's clear P52 is gone

Sponsorship and partners -- I'm not sure if I only mean financially here, clubs like 52+J and EPCS could drive new users and help a ton with older decks. EPCS operates World of Playing Cards, which for my money is the nicest-looking playing card info site out there. Other people like (off the top of my head) The Congress Guy, the BicycleCards.com person could also help a lot with older decks

Older decks -- Which leads me to my next point, P52 had a massive blind spot regarding older decks. Having more old decks listed would (maybe?) encourage interest in them! If this is implemented I think ALL users should have a separate (if desired) "older deck" wishlist, which may in fact act as more of a "favorites" board

On sponsorship and partners, my interest in harness racing means that I cannot survive without the world leading classicfamilies online db
For a long time they were sponsored by a large breeder/horse stud farm and when the farm withdrew the db looked like dying but the harness racing authorities thankfully realized what an important and irreplaceable resource it was and the industry body became the new sponsor

It would be nice if the card manufacturers like Cartamundi could come to a similar realization about P52 and become involved here - I know this is unlikely what with their current disregard for their custom card arm

We definitely need some sort of theme tags as well -- right now the Yellow Submarine deck is up there but searching for "Beatles" finds nothing

Probably the biggest feature I wish P52 had was the ability to create sub-collections within my own collection via tags or somesuch. So I could group MY decks by "fantasy" or "history" or "luxury" or "pop culture" any time I wished. I don't want to dump feature requests on Manu, but here I am dumping.

The site is built with Next.js. A couple people have actually offered to help with the development!

Right now the thing I need the most help with is adding decks. That's the biggest bottleneck if I'm just adding them myself.

As an incentive, I've added a credit line on the deck page:

Deck Collect 07.jpg

I genuinely appreciate all the feature requests. I'll be adding Print Run, Series, and Tags fields. Also, don't forget that we're not limited by the options in the dropdown menus. You can type anything in there and select "Create". Just be wary of accidentally creating duplicate options.

Screenshot 2024-03-08 at 12.15.19 AM.png

As a side note, I borrowed a scanner today and it definitely improved how quickly I'm able to add decks.

It's a bit annoying that the decks aren't clickable on the main page -- and it would be nice to hide the intro/waitlist for logged-in users

I also edited the red Avengers deck and it looks like the image got messed up? I also had trouble trying to replace only the back image for Fades V2, and could not add a deck with only a year (no month/day)

I could post a link to the site on the KWP Discord, someone there may want to help?

More ideas:

Adding decks without images -- ideally combined with some sort of auto-generated color and name instead of the current blank X rectangle

Standardized deck name formatting -- Fades v2 or Fades V2? Bicycle Rider Back Red? Rider Back (Red)? (Red) (Rider Back)?

Search bar at top -- it's very annoying to not be able to search from the home page (or click on decks)

Filter > Filter & sort? No sorting options yet

I would change "Account" to "Settings" -- I keep clicking Account when I want Profile

Border/borderless -- sort border into white / off-white / color?

Drag-and-drop images to upload?

I 100% want pagination, but could we view more than 20 decks at a time? I have a tall window that ends up very empty:

manu wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2024 9:45 pm Are UPC or SKU of interest?
To be clear, my idea here is that I should be able to type in (or even scan?!) decks I have with barcodes (most/all USPCC, T11 releases) and be shown said deck

I was out of town this weekend, so this will be a small update.

Some quick quality-of-life wins: "Account" is now "Settings", there is a search field in the navbar for simple text search from any page, and the decks on the home page are now clickable. The home page will have more changes once we're out of this closed beta, hopefully in the next week or two.

#1 complaint right now: can't add a deck from the search/browse page -- would be nice to have a pop-up(?) with year, back, collection status, etc. I would also like to see which decks I have in my collection during searches

I would really like to have a third image slot for card backs -- what do people think of this?

Stats on the front page -- number of decks? Active users? Recently added?

Missing fields for themes, colors, and gilding color. Manufacturing country?

Could you change "Air cushion" to "Air-Cushion"?

Designated links to KS campaigns / official store / UC thread? / other sites? (Macstrat, WOPC)

Designated space for any text on tuck side / flap / bottom?

User avatars?

Nice to see you on here Russ! Something I've noticed with P52 going down is that some familiar faces in the community are poking around here with curiosity and helpful attitudes. It's what the community is all about and it makes me happy to see it despite the circumstances.

I was thinking the same thing around having designated spaces for KS links, UC forum page, WOPC, etc.

Having an additional images section would be helpful, not necessarily a rigid third image for the card backs. That way we can add any deck-related imagery like how P52 was.

Yes to all those fields. It could start off with the bare minimum fields shown with a "+" icon that lets you select additional fields from a drop down to add. That way the section wouldn't be cluttered from the start with too many blank spaces. Thoughts?

I'd love me some stats. Is there a way to clean up the links? P52 used to have users in chronological number order, same with decks. But now they're randomized which is fine but doesn't look neat and less copy paste friendly.

The decks aren't being added chronologically like some/most decks on P52 were. Just sayin'.

Apologies. I did not mean chronological. I meant numerical. So something like https:///deckcollect.com/deck/1, followed by 2, 3 etc. rather than https://deckcollect.com/deck/b489f2dc-8 ... 70c53f6a23

WJPCC > Wangjing (WJPCC)
King Star > King Star (KSPC)

Thanks :D

I think we need to separate Manufacturer into cards and tuck -- right now viewing Oath shows both

Also, I'm not sure who else has access yet, but SoCal has told me it's okay to use scans from his site to upload :ugthink: There may be some nice ones in past auctions?

Anyway this is already so much nicer to browse than P52!

Several cool new features today!

Now when browsing search results, you can hover over any deck to see some quick actions. You can add a deck to your collection, wishlist, or favorites right from the results page, without having to click into the deck. This will only work if you're logged in, of course!

Screenshot 2024-03-12 at 6.49.44 PM.png

Profiles will now show Mod status, as well as how many decks they have added (huge thank you to hsbc for the incredible work adding decks!)

Screenshot 2024-03-14 at 6.44.59 PM.png

Last but not least, we now have the Print Run and Tags fields.

Screenshot 2024-03-14 at 6.44.21 PM.png

I've also made several other minor tweaks and improvements. For example, empty fields are now hidden in the deck's details.

Sequential IDs have a few drawbacks, unique IDs are usually considered best practice now. That said, I agree that the links are a little longer than I'd like. I don't think it's a huge deal, but I can look into implementing neater urls in the future.

Thank you, hopefully it will just get better from here! Card backs and more than 20 results per page should be coming next!

As always, I want to encourage the current mods to add decks when they are able. If there is anything that is making it difficult to do so, please send me a PM! Also, I believe I have invited everyone who sent me a PM, but if I missed you please send it again.

Can you either merge the "Bicycle" tag in Features with the new "Bicycle-branded" tag in Tags, or delete the new tag? Also please move the "Kickstarter" and "Patreon" tags from Features to Tags :D

I also think the description should be moved below the infobox -- thoughts? On a phone, with a long description you have to scroll waaaay down to see the main info

It would be nice to see a list of creators, manufacturers, etc. And users!

I really hope it's okay that my main contribution to this thread is an endless flood of feature requests
