Wrote this over on discord.

So I think we may be adjusting the model for sanctuary. Goldsmith has not been the success we would’ve liked. I think asking folks to move off of Kickstarter has been one challenge. The price point obviously another. The Cartamundi major delays also complicate things.

I think as of now sanctuary will be a KS release. There will be an option to purchase a set that is in keeping with the goldsmith deck but there will be other less expensive options too. Folks who backed goldsmith will also have some free stuff in appreciation.

Some WIP shots.

I really don't think it's the project -- consumer spending is down on luxuries now, and it's probably only going to get worse :(

I understand there are macro economics issues. But groundskeeper just saw 2400 backers pledge an average $193 for a total of $465k for a comparable deck project based mostly on very luxury items to propel that campaign to number 7 deck campaign of all time just behind iron spades and mint.

Curious how the cards look in comparison to a version with no horizontal black lines.

Luxuries are one thing but if you get basically (no disrespect meant) industrial products sold as luxury, that's on another page for me.
Being a former print job manager (calculating, planning and supervising book production) I know a thing or two about subtle differences in a print product. Selfish as I am, I always want a good bang for my buck. Having a Cartamundi cold foil deck never counts as a luxury good for me so, I for my part, won't pay premium prizes for them unless I'm blown away by the design. As much as I loved e.g. Eye of the Ocean, I would never have bought the Astra Polaris deck for the price tag it came with, if I would not have been able to sell the Quartermaster deck for a premium which covered my complete campaign pledge and even left me with a nice plus in the piggy bank.

Groundskeeper offered a very open menu — 788 backers on the stand-alone luxury deck; Imagine doing that with Goldsmith. I think it's not too late to salvage the project, as you're already pivoting with the next releases, why not pivot on Goldsmith as well? I think the main thing would be offering current backers to change their orders so we wouldn't get pissed. I wouldn't change mine btw.

It's been a great vision, if not overly ambitious.

Ive started collecting all Omar's sets, and yes I have ordered Goldsmith, but only on about the 20th look because of the way it was packaged. I don't really want 2 identical but the backs version of a deck, and don't really have much use for a case that small and the coin is just going to go in a drawer.

In short, yes given the choice I would have just picked the best version (at least the one in my opinion, usually the black version). If there was a prismatic or similar then maybe I'll get 2 (as there was for Groundskeeper, Im in for green and prismatic deck).

Im not the biggest fan of Kickstarter as a method of finding new customers (cant say Ive ever looked for something on KS, its always been a link from somewhere else), but for Goldsmith...I just don't think many people even knows it exists.

The case holds the coin so... there's that.

I mean there's that :) initially in groundskeeper I was pledged for a nice wenge 3 deck display case...but then they added the prismatic deck which wouldn't have fit (lack of planning on Wyrmwoods part I suppose) and I dropped it and the normal 2 decks it came with and just went with the special green and prismatic.

I dunno I like having choices(who am I to say what is the best choice for someone else), and less so having to buy things I don't really want to get ones I do (unless there is a significant enough discount that the other things dont really alter the price)

In any case Im very keen to hear what Omar's plans are for moving forward with his various projects in the next few months.
