Though I can buy it, I'm glad I don't have fomo about this deck. If somebody were to make a review video about this deck, I'll just admire them from the video. Better yet I could just do screenshots of the pictures of the deck so I can 'own' them.

They really make it sound valuable ... not. Quote:
"
5. Prizes: One hundred (100) potential prize winners will each receive the opportunity to receive a license to one (1) of one hundred (100) collectible NFTs from the Bicycle NFT Main Collection. The license to the NFT will grant each winner the right to access the NFT media for a defined period. The license to the NFT will not confer on the winner any intellectual property ownership rights in or to the NFT nor the right to receive any royalty payments in connection with the NFT prize. Limit one (1) prize per person and per household. The approximate retail value of each prize is zero dollars ($0.00)."

Fascinating. I can't get on board with NFT's, especially with this kind of absurd pricing. Curious to see if it will ever sell out.

I'm not very inclined to read through the product page and stuff; someone down to sum everything up for me, as condensed as possible?
Did I understand it correct, that they don't actually sell the NFT but rather raffle tickets to have the chance to get one of hundred NFTs for a defined period? So basically you get shit and not even only the debatable NFT shit but for real no shit at all?

Not quite. With the General Collection you get: a physical deck + an NFT for that deck + the lottery chance for a NFT for a card from the Unique Collection.
However, the NFTs for cards from the Unique Collection are of considerably more valuable than the NFTs for decks from the General Collection.

Thanks for the clarification. Kinda ironic to have a general collection of a thing that is supposed to be unique.

well, at $300 each, selling 2329, making $698700 they likely dgas if they throw the rest away. if they did not mint all of the NFT's at once. if they already minted all 8008 NFT's then they might be in for quite a loss.

I'm not sure I quite understand what you're saying here. Is "dgas" a typo here?
And how exactly do you figure they'll be in for quite a loss? I probably don't just get your point here, so maybe you could explain.

Someone finally explained "art" NFTs to me, in a way I grasp it. Prior I thought you get nothing. Now I know you get nothing.

yes dgas is dont give a shit hehe.
so my understanding is that when you mint an NFT it costs gas. which is basically a charge, service fee. this is in etherium as well. in an post written by Lorenzo on his patreon, he explored making some NFT''s and said that the amount that it cost to mint an NFT was around $200, if i recall correctly. obviously you then need to charge above that to make a profit.
i believe they made 8008 NFT decks? you get a deck when you buy an NFT. so far they have sold 2329 according to the numbers above, making $698700. if they are minting these in small batches or as they are sold then they are making quite a bit of money and don't care if they sell the rest. if they minted all 8008 NFT's at the same time, gas fees would be around $1,601,600. you can see they would be at a big loss right now until they sell quite a bit more.

The scamy part is that you don't own the actual file or the rights to the file only the unique authentification certificate aka the NFT.

I am ignorant to NFTs but what does it mean to "mint an NFT" and why would it cost $200?

from my limited understanding, to mint it is to actually get it onto the blockchain. put it in the system if you will. so you have a picture or video and you are making it into an NFT.
the cost is in ethereum usually, or the currency of that particular system. currently the conversion is ETH = $2475.16. it actually seems to be down as the asking price of the NFT deck, .08 eth, is now $198. anyway the minting fee is set in ETH so the price would fluctuate. at the time Lorenzo was looking at it his fees were $250 per minting (i just looked it back up). todays fees i would say are less than that due to the price of ETH.
but if you got into ETH pre 2020, .08 ETH was about $16.
if you bought the NFT deck around january 1st you paid $295, today $198. you already lost 100 bucks. i imagine people who bought the deck either have enough money they do not care or have had ETH for a long time, at least pre 2021, when it was worth much less.
