Is the only difference the foiling and that red X that's faded on the newer ones? I'm just going off of what I can see in the before and after pictures.
Me dunno, sorry. My overall interest in KWP has over the years drastically declined and I'm not willing to keep track on marginal differences between the myriad of editions πŸ˜….
Best source of info is still his instagram feed, which unfortunatelly gets cluttered more and more since Jackson (or Parker) understand that the sheer amount of posts equals a steady growth in followers which become potential customers.

I received my new Haunted 8 decks today (limited and standard). I do think the handling is significantly improved. Is it at USPCC or Cartimundi standards? No. Also, one interesting thing is that you can see on edge that the deck has a distinct separation of cards in six groups of 9 cards. If you shuffled them though, that would be less obvious.

The silver foil on the back does add some really nice bling and does jazz them up nicely. That said, I already have 5 Haunted 8 decks from 2018, and just added another 5 for 2020, plus three more gilded on the way. I am feeling a bit bloated on Haunted 8's right now.

The silver foil does not come out because my old phone camera would just show a blinding flash and nothing else...so, best I can do of my 2018 and 2020 Haunted 8 collection so far...kinda crazy.

My Beowulf decks were sent out today, which means I’ll get them some time between Friday and February. I really like what I see so far. As long as Jackson can maintain this level of quality for his literary series, 2021 should be a stellar year for KWP fans.

Received my Beowulf today. I don't know the ancillary characters in the other suits, but this is one sharp looking deck with perfectly accenting gold foil. Jackson is thrilling me with this book series, and OZ looks to be another stunner.

I just received my subscription and standard Beowulf decks today. I agree with wingedpotato, Jackson hit another one out of the park. I have been looking forward to this deck since he talked about doing the deck a long time ago. It is a thick deck and the handling isn't perfect, but it is a stunning deck. The foil really does work nicely with the design. The foil is more subdued. On closer inspection, the foil is printed over the foil to darken it a bit. I am glad to see Jackson and EPCC working with printing over foil. Honestly, the standard deck is a steal. I am sure this will be another deck he keeps regularly available.

I wonder who are who for the courts in Beowulf, as well as the scene for the diphtyc jokers
Man, I don't really know about Norse mythology that well
And there is no card mentioning the names - Jackson should consider having this to his story themed decks, so those who are not familiar with the story can know who are who in the court cards

Wow, how in the world you able to get clear scans on heavily foiled cards? It's so beautiful

Its been a method ive been playing with. I try to make it a point not to add any filters to the scans to preserve the integrity of the printed card, however I have found with foiled cards a medium unsharp mask and a blue filter offset gold foil. Still playing with it, but they came out pretty well. Glad you like them!

Jackson, you should consider having an extra card listing the characters on your future story-theme decks

I love character key cards, but EPCC only prints 54 cards in a deck and I love dyptich jokers. I am trying to come up with a solution though.

But, isn’t the Arthurian Excalibur was printed by EPCC, right? The deck does come with a characters list card. Maybe times change that EPCC limits the printed cards?

Yep! We had an entirely separate run of just the one card and hand placed them in each deck ><

Whenever you have 54 story decks, just do another deck where all the cards are the character names for the previous decks. Like the 13th shorts deck. The 55th!

Or just plan out your next 54 story decks in advance. Simple, really :ugthink:

Oh, so that explains why the characters list card has a different back then the rest of the deck! And the back design on that card has a striking resemblance with the current back design.
