Re: Commoners playing cards (Ian Cumpstey) / KS
Exciting news! I own Ian's tarot deck but never thought to check whether he made playing cards or not. Lucky me this is getting a second edition!
I'm not as interesting as I think I am.

The tuck was my first draw to this deck - I like seeing it stroll by when viewing my P52 collection

On page 1 postage going from £4 to £6 (in 2020) is mentioned. 4 years later it is now £10. Shipping is killing the game (not the artist's fault)
I hope there is still a chance of Ian's Shimmering Seven being resurrected.

"Printed in Spain by Cartamundi" ... interesting.

I like these and am curious about the Spanish Cartamundi factory bit since they aren't starting up there for 6 months if ever, but the price with shipping comes out to $36 and that's a bit crazy for what these are.

I do fear the price is going to make this a tough campaign to land, low enough goal to make it possible I guess

I agree. I love his work but I did not back Pattern Garden and I won't be backing these as I feel the cost is excessive.

Gee, I thought it might have got close to funding in the next week (but probably not close enough)
As far as expensiveness - does anybody really thinking that these small designer/artists are making a killing
At the other extreme we have people paying hundreds and hundreds for other mass produced decks
It is of course fair for everybody to put a value on what any deck is worth to them

Re: Commoners playing cards (Ian Cumpstey) / KS
This is now the second KS I've backed that's been cancelled and I'm hoping I'm not a curse.
The cost wasn't even an issue for me - indie tarot decks are twice as expensive and no one bats an eye paying for them. Guess I gotta start getting used to the flow of this new community.

Re: Commoners playing cards (Ian Cumpstey) / KS
KS update wrote:I have decided to cancel this kickstarter. Essentially this is because for this to work for me there need to be significantly more backers. Or even if this project were to advance to just about his the funding goal in the next few days, I can't imagine there would be enough backers to make a big enough dent in the print run for me to be able to deal with. (the print run that would arrive with me from the printers in a couple of months' time would necessarily be of at least a certain size.)
So for those of you who are here and who are reading this: many thanks for backing. Your support is important, it's appreciated. I'm sorry this can't go ahead.
