Thank you for the feedback! The numbering and pip marks in the corners are quite distinct from the central pip displays. Each one in the middle gets lager, with different amounts of detailed work - but when I play cards I never actually look at the central marking in order to directly determine the card number - do people do that?

I can only speak for myself, but yah, I determine the card from the central pips.
If the artwork is intricate and awesome but it still maintains a very good readability or let's say recognizability, from my point of view, this is what differentiates a great deck from a good deck of playing cards. Corner indices are of course helpful to not having to spread the cards in your hand all the time in games where you hold a lot of'em (Canasta, Rommé).

I completely understand. This deck I have focussed on 'readability' in a way that I did not in Culturae Animalis. But it does still take a second seat to the design concept and art. I will have more to post on the concept soon that will clarify the main direction and uniqueness of the deck.

Hey all, I am here to share some updates on the progress of the deck designs and ask for your feedback and input. Please do share with anyone you think might be interested and let them chime in. So the deck artwork is almost complete and discussions are underway with EPCC on the details and creative features of the deck beyond the designs. I can share with you here now the main image - the hand-drawn artwork for the back of the cards. In addition I will share my first idea board for the limited edition seal for the tuck box. I am fully open to any comments on the seals so please do read through the notes and give your feedback on whatever elements you like. I will try to check in here more frequently from now until publication but if you wish to contact me directly about this deck or my last art deck Culturae Animalities (that will also have some newly revealed expansions coming), then please do so through my website (www.jackbrutuspenny.com).

Here is the back design, enjoy! And here is the idea board for the seals, in the shape of a Japanese folding fan. I look forward to hearing your comments!

The details haven't been added yet, but the custom seal is coming together with its unique features and feedback from the many people. The turquoise will hopefully be like a metallic foil and more details need to be added into those areas.

Will the back be borderless, like Culturæ Animalis?
I'm kinda split, I love borderless but this back might look better with a thin border as well.

I completely understand what you mean. But the back will be borderless, as will the card fronts, just as Culturae Animalis was. Another will be a strong reason for this and the cards will use this in their creative designs - the largest part of the artwork concept and the main part I think no other deck has ever tried before. I am honestly excite to reveal this element but am holding out just a tad longer for that so that I can hopefully do it clearly with prototypes as it is hard to explain in words.

So final run for the special seal sticker design. Based on the Japanese folding fan, feel free to let me know which you find more appealing - the top with simpler base colour only on the fan 'depth' folds, or a semi-inverse patterning. The turquoise is all planned to be metallic/have some shine.

Depends on your tuck box design for me. If it is busy like Culturæ Animalis I would say the top option is better to contrast it. If you go less busy this time I'd say vice versa, meaning the bottom version.

Edit: my bad, I forgot you already posted the tuck box draft above.
Now I'm undecided, haha. You go with busy again (which I like btw, you manage to have busy designs that still emit calm and poise). I revoke above and say go with the bottom version to not break the harmony.

I would say ultimately the blue sections of the fan need something, so no to top option, but I'm not sure if the bottom option is that something. Hope that helps.

Always good to hear feedback. Others have been voting and commenting and I try to take it all into account. Though I may go with one of these final designs - what 'more' would you say the turquoise depth cuts (blocks) would need? I played around with some text I wanted to include but the sharp different in space from the focal pivot out didn't lend itself to text.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I feel like it just needs some (uniform?) texture rather than a flat blue.

So I will create a new thread for the Sensu deck now that pre-launch is officially live at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ja ... enny/sensu

Here is the first rendering for the new deck we have been discussing. Thank you for your input and I may well be here more to discuss with you certain elements if things/questions arise.

Ahh, the thorn in my side - recognisability.

Also, has the UC functionality changed? I can't 'like' your comment, only 'dislike'?

It hasn't changed, you're seeing "dislike" because you've already "liked" it. Technically, it should be "un-like"

Don’t know what this is yet, so forgive the placement of the post, but I’m already looking for the buy button :)

Right? Apparently coming out this week. I'm trying to figure out more information but I'm sure Jack will provide it. I just hope there isn't a super limited tier we need to be present for at the start. It's hard to navigate that in my field.

hmm initially I thought it might be a release for NPCCD but probably not.

Do we have any confirmation that NPCCD will continue? There hasn't been a deck since 2020, when things switched to P52 coming out with decks instead (Odd Fellows with Lorenzo in 2021), and now this new deck from JBP for 2022.

I do remember Alex promising we would get a belated one when oddfellows was running - not sure if its still in the works though

Yep, I recall too about that comment but not sure. Maybe the NPCCD gets replaced with P52 collaborating with others and release in Oct? I'm just blabbering and I could be wrong.
