yea, same here - It was announced to be available sometime in October, but I *think* I recall seeing somewhere that release has been pushed back another month; either way, I'm glad to see it FINALLY seems to actually be in the works this time around lol :D

I seriously have been anticipating this deck for waaayy too long! can't wait :D

Sadly it was also confirmed this will be US Game Systems again. Good news is there will be an uncut version which is a MUST.

MODS - can we get these 3 threads merged?
Yeah, that would be a good idea. Otherwise we'll have a 4th thread in 2019 when it's supposedly finally, actually, seriously, going to come out!

A transformation deck is a distinct type of design approach in which the pips are deliberately incorporated into a custom design and make up the elements of an overall image or scene. For a deck to be considered a true transformation deck, the pips need to remain in their standard size, color, placement/position and orientation as they would on a standard deck; otherwise, when the pips deviate from what is standard in any one of these aspects in any way, the design is then only considered to be a semi-transformation.

You can best see this in these examples:

see how the pips all maintain standard placement/position & orientation - this is a true transformation design. An example of a moden semi-transformation deck (still a WIP that has yet to be released) can be seen in the designs of the 5th Kingdom Deck where many of the pip shapes are almost hidden in the images/scenes.

Thank you very much for the lesson. That is really cool and must be a royal pain in the ass to do that for all cards and keep a cohesive theme and style.

You can also read up a very good write up by EndersGame on Transformation decks here. Also listed are some of the modern decks you can still buy.

Not to hijack this thread but IMO the best example of modern day transformation decks are Emmanuel Jose's decks: http://emmanueljose.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
These are a bit of a different style but I'm looking forward to them. Especially since Emmanuel went AWOL many years ago :(

I really love the 5th Kingdom deck idea. If properly executed, it could be a magnificent deck.

Oh yes, for me as well. Reading that he was Ben Jone's inspiration for the Pipmen transformation deck really kicked me into full-on serious collector mode. Trying to find Emmanuel Jose's decks have been something of a personal quest for me. Managed to get all except for Clipped Wings. Cheapest I could ever find on ebay was more than I was willing to pay then.

If you follow his instagram or FB, you can see he's got 3 other decks done. 1 was fashion, 1 was sports, I can't recall the theme for his 5th. Now sadly it's all dog and cat papercuts. Very nice no doubt, but oh to see those 3 decks in some sort of print.......

I do know that TheGentlamanWake is planning to do a review on at least one transformation deck somewhere in the future in his youtube channel. I do hope that it gets released soon. Also apperantly Sunish (Guru Playing Card Company) is working on a transformation deck.

Coming very soon! (Early 2019)

I love how he declares that Early 2019 is very soon! Early 2019 is very soon???? What kind of timeline is he working on? Ah well, considering it's taken nearly 2 years for this deck even to have a launch date, 4-5 months can be considered very soon! :ugthink:

But still no update/news of a rough estimation of when we could actually expect this deck's release; only reassurances that it'll be "coming soon" which, we all know could either be any day now, or months later lol

with GPCC's Motley Pack, 2019 seems to really be shaping up to be the year of transformation and I couldn't be more excited for it lol :D bring it on! :ugdance:

Good evening friends,

Thanks so much for the feedback.

The Royal Mischief Transformation deck was all ready to head to the printers back in Oct 2018, but a somewhat "controversial" card had to be swapped out at the very last minute! (It took over a month to develop a worthy replacement, and I actually like the new version better!) Both versions will eventually be posted on the deviantmoon.com page.

Thanks for your patience! ...It looks like a Q1 2019 release is eminent. I will keep you updated as we get news from USG!

Regards,
Patrick

Were you ever able to get the Royal Mischief V1 deck you were after?? and if so, will that deck also be reviewed too?? please :D

I did NOT procure a v1. I have the v2 with indices. I will review those too. Really I would love to do all three in the same episode. But I need that v1 to make that happen. Even if someone loans me an open copy.

Way late to the party on this one. Was there a already a pre-order for this deck, or is that just a placeholder for the eventual release on the DM website?

We are still waiting for an update from the publisher! The release is eminent, according to them :)

Yes, we will have signed uncut sheets available for a limited time on the deviantmoon.com site, along with hand inked secondary use styled art cards.

Thanks again for your support!
