Pretty sure its not gilded, but one imagines he sorted out his printer - let me know how the quality compares to the original

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
Not sure where (if anywhere) this belongs, but came across these and thought I would chuck out a heads up. Sold out at the moment for the full set, but a few more coming into stock soon - they are also making a cheaper set out of plastic or wood (upcoming kickstarter)

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
The Kickstarter box included a hardbound book, wax and seal. It is a sweet package. However, I think this is an awesome deck, so being able to get an ungilded version through Amazon for the listed price seems a great deal to me. I personally really like this tarot. I am sure it is not for everyone though.

Wish I could get the gilded version with the coin and all that.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
Update: a very generous UC friend (Hi, Bradius!) very kindly sold me his extra set from the Kickstarter campaign, so my wish has been granted! Woo-hoo!
And... Holy Crap, these are amazing!
I'll be keeping my eye on this project creator. They know how to put together a fantastic kit. The deck, the companion book, the coin, and the wax & seal... all presented in a high quality, illustrated box. Truly amazing.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
Congrats on getting Brad's extra set! Please do note that this project was quite late in delivery and took over two years to complete, though it was well worth the wait. Just a heads up.rousselle wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 10:50 pmUpdate: a very generous UC friend (Hi, Bradius!) very kindly sold me his extra set from the Kickstarter campaign, so my wish has been granted! Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
For those interested in this deck but didn't want to pay the high shipping/VAT costs, I found an even cheaper version which ships from UK and maybe Australia with free shipping worldwide. USD55.75.
https://www.bookdepository.com/Visconti ... 929&sr=1-1
And if there's any serious Tarot collectors who are interested, Lo Scarebo is having a sitewide 20% discount which ends 23 May 22. Pity no Visconti Modrone though.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
Since this came up in another discussion, I thought I would bump this for new members. Lots of great photos included and a link where you can purchase one from the creator. This is more an historical deck in my opinion rather than a tarot. The foil is a bit weird as it merges with the historical underlay, but I kind of figure that is likely how the gold and silver leaf would kind of work, but I dunno. This is one huge deck. Handling is not it's thing. but the bling factor is off the chart.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
I'd somehow missed these. They look incredible. Wish the gilded version with the various extras was still available. Can't really justify the price as is enough to pull the trigger.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
I am on the lookout for a gilded one but the non gilded has enough foil and bling that one could hardly ask for more - not that such a thing every stopped me from wanting more…
I do have the non - couldn’t imagine not having one or the other…

Full transparency, I threw an offer of $105 on this earlier. If anyone wants to beat it, go for it. This was my own limit. We'll see what the seller comes back with, if anything.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
I really like the boxed set. I don't have the new version that isn't gilded. That said, I think I would be quite happy with the new version that isn't gilded. The book though is a nice addition. I am just glad Lo was able to get some more produced. Get whichever one you can.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
Looks like it sold for $170. Haven't seen any other historical data for sales of the box set. Would be nice to have a gilded copy, but if the non-gilded version has foiled cards too and a softcover booklet, I'd say it's worth it at ~$60.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
In case anyone is interested in a comparison side by side.
Regular is smaller and less detailed but handles better and shines more in comparison (probably because the gilded one is more polished and has a glossy finish that attenuates the bling at first sight while on the regular deck the foiling pops a little more)

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
checking it out, but something seems odd - as large as the non-gilded is I was surprised above to see the gilded was larger, then I checked my non-gilded for detail and it seems to include full detail - wondering if the non-gilded above is a knockoff?
Mine fills the box top to bottom, and the boxes are same size, so pretty sure something amiss….
one of my non-gilded:
they measure about 9cm by 19cm

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
I would exclude the knock off considering I bought directly from Lo Scarabeo.
My cards are 7cm by 13,5cm so maybe they did a second format? (while on the product page still it’s written 9x18,9)
Box is original, no sign of a different format anywhere. Inside of the box seems perfectly made to accommodate the smaller format. So either Lo Scarabeo is selling counterfeit or they finished the original print and they made a second smaller batch. Which still feels weird considering the new size isn’t written anywhere.
Won’t complain because it’s different from the gilded one, at least sizewide
My gilded is indeed 9cm by 19cm
Update: wrote to Lo Scarabeo asking for clarification

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
wasn’t aware there was another version, but one has to imagine if you got it direct there is - surprised at the loss of detail though
The current one on their site shows them to be full sized…. Perhaps yours were an early run or even a slipped through prototype…

If it’s a prototype it would be cool. I guess only Lo Scarebeo could shed some light. Let’s see if they reply.

So they made it worse to make it better? Your direct comparison shows how less detailed the foiling is compared to the larger version.

Re: Visconti Modrone Tarot
You have to wonder if the translation is losing something - surely the cards have - not happy to see quality slipping over there, and hiding it in the same box without making it clear they are now smaller and less detailed is pretty slippery
The box does still say Museum Quality and the site still lists them as full size
I guess the museum quality is a flexible term: https://museumofbadart.org/
